An example of how "on the left" doesn't necessarily make you not a prejudiced asshole
The most disgusting blog post I've read today. This week. Hell, this month.

A quick scan of her previous posts show that this is hardly an isolated fail on her part, but I felt a deep need to share the pain.

and dont even get me started on the fallacy of cis-privilege, or the fact that mainstream feminism has embraced the trans-phenomenon so completely, to the detriment, i believe, of feminism, and to women as a sexual class [...] or that transwomen are exercising not only their male-privilege in insisting that their dreams be made into reality, but exercising their first-world privilege as well, by tying themselves to the medical establishment literally forever, to get their hormones, dilations, and emergency treatments when something “goes wrong.”

    Stay Classy, Arlington!
Arlington, TN is a rural-ish 'burb about 20 min. northeast of Memphis. As you might expect from the word "rural", folks tend to the red side of the red/blue state divide.

And their Mayor, Russell Wiseman, has recently revealed himself to be one of "them": And by "them" I mean "A member of the "Obama Is A Muslim" brigade. And not of the John McCain-flavored "He's not a Muslim. He's a decent family man" stripe.

Nope: of the "Obama deliberately timed his Afghanistan speech to disrupt 'A Charlie Brown Christmas' as a shot at Christians." stripe.

    Seriously.

Wiseman made the statements on his Facebook page, where he declared Obama to be a Muslim. Only people on Wiseman's "friend's list" had access to the post. He has more than 1,600 friends on Facebook.

"Ok, so, this is total crap, we sit the kids down to watch 'The Charlie Brown Christmas Special' and our muslim president is there, what a load.....try to convince me that wasn't done on purpose. Ask the man if he believes that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and he will give you a 10 minute disertation (sic) about it....w...hen the answer should simply be 'yes'...."

Of course, when the local media caught wind and started going "Wait, WHAT?"...

When contacted Thursday, Wiseman declined to comment about his Facebook posts.

"It's ridiculous for someone to send my Facebook post," Wiseman said. "You guys are trying to make a mountain out of a molehill."

"Mountain out of a molehill." Riiiiiight. Imagine how batshit he'd have gotten if Obama had interrupted The Ten Commandments or Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer?

    the feminists always ruin everything
In Australia, the new Opposition Leader has been selected by his party, after some turbulant leadership issues (mostly over climate change policy). The man is Tony Abbott, he's a social conservative, strict catholic, he is against abortion and contraception, and he is a climate change sceptic.

To say I loathe him, is and understatement, and I never thought he'd make it to leader. But there he is. The only positive is that he's not going to be popular enough to Australians to be voted in as Prime Minister come the next election. (I hope, I pray).

Miranda Devine has a column in the Sydney Morning Herald. It appears she thinks Abbott is swell, and all those women who hate him are just uber-feminist bitches, well, you can read the column to see for yourself. Now I loathe this women as much as Abbott.

    ----
Apparently, Tony Abbott has woman trouble. Despite the fact he has three daughters, a wife, two sisters and a mother who adore him, the popular perception of the new Opposition Leader is that women can't stand his blokeish, confrontational style.

Abbott's so-called woman trouble is with a particular subset of female - the aggressively secular, paleo-feminist, emasculating Australian broad, for whom unabashed red-blooded blokeishness is an affront of biblical proportions )

Right... I think I'm losing all respect for Whoopi Goldberg. But then again, maybe I'm reading too much negativity into this, in light of the Roman Polanski bruhaha and all the Hollywood people I've lost respect for, so... I don't know where I stand on this, except that I think this could get ugly.

''Brooke Astor's son: I'm too sick to be imprisoned'' )

I'm stuck on the whole "I don't deserve this punishment" spin on this. What the hell?

I don't know about anyone else, but I don't think he "deserves" to have any charges dismissed. Maybe given a different sentence than a penitentiary, in light of his health issues, but he doesn't get a free pass just because he's ill, elderly and a war hero -- he still committed a crime. He doesn't sound the least bit repentant, either. I understand that he's very frail, but I still don't think he gets a free pass just because he's practically on his deathbed.

(Also, psst - Whoopi Goldberg? That humiliation and ugliness was his own fault, not the justice system's.)
