The Gubermint is trying to keel me? Send halp!
Over at the neuroscience comm on LJ [info]dreamsailboat posts to the following provocative query:

"Question: if you were aware that the usa was responsible for a hidden CNS chemical warfare holocaust
within itself from corruption and crime, which newspapers would you go to with the story?

or what would you do?

(other then go back to the corrupt government
which is activily trying to murder you
for what you know and have witnessed?)"

The responses range from "seek help," to "no, really seek professional help."

(This one seemed unfunny to me. But if you think it belongs at OTFW let me know.)

I thought it was going to be funny. But by the time I got to the end of the comments I wanted to smack the OP with a brick. It could be that I have been cornered by one too many conspiracy theorists lately.

I found it outrageous enough to not be annoying. If the OP said it was happening in the Middle East, as a prelude to war with Iran, I think I'd find that paranoid and obnoxious. This is just grade A batshit -- but then, I don't know many conspiracy theorists.

I was stuck in a pub with one the other night and the drunker she got the crazier her theories got about the internet and who has information and that they will get you or something.

I remember when I heard my first conspiracy theory. I was just a little girl at my hippy uncle's house. He was a surfer and grew his own green and leafie and every time I walked into his house, all I would smell is weed and cheap joss sticks. I was sitting with him and my brother and my Uncle started ranting enthusiastically about the secret alien base in Nevada and how the American Government were hiding it (you all know the story by now, I'm sure we've both watched X Files). I was a really tiny kid, though, and I was sort of brought up to trust and believe adults cause, well, my parents weren't quite as strange as my uncle was. So I was hiding under tables that night. It was bad enough that Close Encounters of the Third Kind scared the *crap* out of me. Now my uncle had to tell me there were hordes of the big-eyed fuckers in America.

Sometimes I go to the Jeff Rense site and boggle at the insanity. This is what happened to all the hippies you know. If that doesn't tell you of the dangers of drugs, I don't know what will.

(Sorry about that big rambling comment. Fuck, it's huge!)

Except for the surfer part you just descirbed my childhood. I think I see the root of my problem now. :D

Actually no my father is suprisingly cool and with it or an old hippy and he doesn't smoke anymore now that he has the diabetes. My crazy alcohlic uncle though? Totaly fucking whack job theorist.

See, my uncle is a really cool guy. Just a bit credulous, is all.

But that didn't help stop the nightmares of big-eyed dudes. Actually, it did, sort of. The internet kinda cured me of my fear because I saw how nuts all these 'contactee' people were and realised that with all probability nobody had been abducted in the first place.

If the government is going after intelligent people, dreamsailboat has nothing to worry about.

ps -for the ignorant- suggesting that someone who has been exposed to chemical warfare wear a tinfoil hat, is no different then saying you want to murder or mentalicide them, as this would trap chemicals in the head and cook them, seriously, that is rude and nazi.

I'm reminded of the Get Fuzzy strip where Bucky insists that a situation was "really Belgium."

Also, this thread has just made my morning. Especially this.

Ahahahahah. Aluminum foil amplifies radio signals? Best. Thing. Ever.

I wonder if tin foil would work better.

I think Fuzzy might've stole that from Dr. Who. Or the other way around, depending on when it was dated.

Time Crash, 'cause it makes me warm and fuzzy on the inside.

how bout a coupe instead of a vote? most democracies have them every couple years, alternating with voting? 200 years without a major revolution seems really wimpy to me. of course the military should do do it, not civilians.

Coupes are pretty cool, though I drive a 4-door at the moment. Lower insurance rates, easier for car pooling... though not quite as sporty.
