Here Comes The Bigot....
Bride-to-be Alix Genter was recently thrilled to find the perfect dress for her upcoming wedding. She'd brought her whole family with her to pick it out -- her mom even made muffins to share with everyone and her father brought champagne to "Here Comes The Bride", a local New Jersey bridal shop.

But the next day, the shop called Alix to tell her the would not do business with her after all, and were cancelling the order. Why?

Because Alix is a lesbian.

The owner had noticed that when Alix filled out the order form for her dress, she crossed out the word "groom" where it was on the form and wrote in "partner," and added her fiancee's name. The owner of the store, in her voice message turning down Alix's business, said that she didn't want to be involved in an "illegal action" -- despite the fact that Alix plans her wedding to take place in New York State, where it is fully legal, and despite the fact that civil unions are also permitted in the state of New Jersey.

In an column in the Philadelphia Inquirer, the editor gave the shop's owner a chance to elaborate on her position somewhat:

"They get that way," she [said]. By "they," she meant women who were fed up with men because "men can be difficult," and so now they "experiment" with female relationships because they're tired of having men boss them around.

She [talked] about a friend whose wife left him for another woman. And about a young family member who was molested by a same-sex adult male. And about a gay man who once plunged a knife into a chair in the restaurant where she worked. And - she finally lost me here - something about the Navy SEALs. "It's a lot of drama," she said.

The public is responding the best way it knows how at the moment -- by leaving scathing reviews on Yelp.

There's something about the second coming of Christ* being born from a Jewish virgin, and also the Antichrist rebuilding the Temple in Jerusalem, and even though the rebuilding is part of the Antichrist's eeeeevil plan to eradicate good from the face of the earth, Christians should go along with it because it's necessary to go through the whole shebang in order to complete the cycle and bring about, uh, I don't know. The theology started out tossed like a bad salad and then got spilled on the floor, and now the dog's eating it.

But the short version is: A certain strain of Christianity has an entire sequence of events mapped out in order to bring about Christ's kingdom on earth, and Israel is part of it because many of the events have to happen there. So that particular strain of Christianity supports a unified Jewish Israel... because it's going to bring about the Antichrist, who's going to hasten the world toward God's kingdom.

tl;dr Rapture evangelicals are batshit.

* Or possibly the Antichrist is going to be born from a Jewish virgin, somewhere in Eastern Europe. SALAD. NO, REALLY, SALAD.
