If she had qualified the statement in the least, like "up to several thousand" or "can cost several thousand" I wouldn't have had to call her out.

What was actually written:
can run you hundreds of dollars a month to RENT

Uhm...

I think you're really trying way too hard to dismiss her comment and are missing the point in the process. What is side-eye worthy and sloppy is really your handling of this. You're ignoring a lot of the parts that are part of the cost - no, the device itself isn't everything, and no, you can't use just any for any patient (wish you could, really, that'd have saved my family a couple thousand a few years back). That idea of yours alone is complete and utter fail.

Eh, I think they're both a little sloppy with their CPAP declarations.

(And no, I don't work for a medical supply company. But I've been using cpap.com for years, and "forget buying one thats a few grand" is inaccurate, even taking associated equipment needs into account. Yes, there are machines that cost over a thousand dollars, but comparatively few...and most of them aren't even reviewed, at a site that's wonderfully, helpfully review-happy).

My dad has one, and yeah, it was not that expensive. It's still a pricey piece of equipment, but not prohibitively so.
