Illinois Republicans Kill Police Recording Bill
There was an Illinois bill to allow citizens to do audio recordings of police doing their jobs (video-only recordings are already legal). Republicans killed the bill.

One of the bill’s detractors, Rep. Jim Sacia, R-Freeport, said the bill opens the possibility for citizens to alter audio recordings of interactions with police to make them look bad.

Rep. Jim Watson, R-Jacksonville, agreed.

“We should not be creating an atmosphere where people enter this ‘got you’ mode and try to tape law enforcement, trying to catch them (doing things),” Watson said.

Why do I think that Sacia and Watson don't think entrapment should be illegal?

Here's a thought: If people trusted law enforcement more maybe that wouldn't happen as much.

If they aren't doing anything wrong, then why should the police care? Isn't that what they are always telling us every time they want to pass a new law that allows US to be searched or spied on?

And by "doing things", he means police misconduct. Because we definitely can't have cops being caught doing things.

We should instead be creating an atmosphere where police can enter this 'i can beat you up and tase you and you can do nothing' mode without repercusions.

Cause priorities.

Remember, innocent people have nothing to hide. So if you value your privacy, you're not innocent, and thus they can do what they want.

Cause priorities.
