Thanks for the caps. I woke up to tons of "secrets" about the whole debacle posted on TGWTG Secrets on tumblr but I hadn't seen the original "joke" tweet until now. Except now I wish I hadn't. :-/

Although as someone downthread has posted links to stuff Holly's been tweeting, the "joke" apparently was not the cause of his termination with CA although I doubt it and his gross behavior on twitter really helped his case at all.

Checking the forums gives a rough timeline of rape joke involving fellow contributor JesuOtaku -> possible depression on Spoony's part leading to odd behaviour that may or may not have preceded the joke -> Spoony is called out for the rape joke a month later by fellow contributor Obscurus Lupa -> Behaviour worsens radically -> Spoony suspended for four weeks -> Behaviour worsens even more -> Fired, videos removed from site.

The behaviour in the forums almost deserves an UFB post of its own, with certain (repeat) posters trying to prove that OL was "goading" Spoony in his depression, duct-taped to pretty much every misogynistic insult you've ever heard. Lupa herself shows up in the comments for a while, and some commenattors mention fellow contributor Phelous being involved in the reaction to the rape joke as well, but all I saw about that was his name coming up. There are a lot of people at this site, I'm not going to check ALL their Twitters. I leave that to someone more stubborn than me.

It's possible the subforum might follow the videos on the dive off the site, so anyone screencapping should get on it now. Luckily - though to whose luck I cannot tell - Spoony's own forums are down for what looks to be unrelated reasons, and his posts have only been video posts from E3, though you never know if a discussion might be going on there all the same.

Judging from most of Spoony's RTs on the subject and Lupa's Tumblr posts, the original issue stems from him allegedly stalking/harassing his ex-girlfriend Scarlet, whose reappearance on Twitter apparently sent him into a reactive spiral. And Lupa, after months of standing by silent while Spoony made similar jokes toward their fellow co-workers, finally couldn't stand it and referred to the JO Tweet that started this situation.

TGWTG forum/Twitter admin Holly Christine revealed that neither Lupa nor JO filed a formal complaint with Channel Awesome over the incident, so the decision must have been reached independently:

Ugh, how awful. Spoony always seemed a little full of himself and a tad unstable, but I had no idea he was hiding this much douchebaggery down inside. Dude, depression does not give you an excuse to act like a lunatic. Trust me. I know.

LK went off on spoony a lot. Apparently spoony's behavior at E3 a couple years had really caused major issues for him trying to set up interviews with developers, etc. due to being connected to them. What was the big issue is that he said he hoped that Spoony would shoot himself and the next day's headline reads "Failed actor kills himself".

Which is kind of confusing really, given the wank at TGWTG that seems weighted toward the site and Lupa, or at least that was how it was last I checked. I'm not saying people aren't showing up to argue the other side, many of them awful, but that it's sad how you only have to step one, two step away (the The Escapist's forums, in this case) and suddenly the whole thing is weighted in another direction.
