You gotta be someone who isn't in JE fandom. It doesn't operate within the boundaries of normal human logic.

No matter what she said, the rumors would have persisted.

If she had said "yes I'm dating him," people would have called her a liar/attention whore/wanted to kill her.

If she had said "no I'm not dating him," people would have called her a liar/suspicious/wanted to kill her.

The best thing she could have done is what she did - shut the fuck up and wait for it to go away.

	Yes, she's clearly not getting off on this at all. Nor does she pretend to be the fount of all wisdom on things Japanese/not correct people who assume she's Japanese herself. I agree. Jrock fandom is like this, too. Tell the truth and you get called a liar/evil/rapist (!! yes, because not being Japanese and thin means no one could ever want his cock near you /eyeroll) /etc etc. Which would tempt one to lie and publicly backtrack/deny, but then guess what happens.

Jrock and Jpop fandoms are a catch 22. Either she dated him and it's NOBODY'S fucking business or she didn't, she's apologized for lying, and move the FUCK on.
