Same here. Sometimes I don't think these people read the same series I did.

But then again, I didn't pick up on any chemistry between Harry and Ginny either until all of a sudden Harry's chest monster was raging like a beast, so maybe I'm just oblivious.

I didn't pick up on most of the supposed chemistry between characters in this series except for Ron and Hermione and Sirius and Remus. In fact, I totally thought Remus and Tonks were both gay...

It's not just you: As someone (whom I wish I could remember to cite properly) said, "Harry had a number of significant emotional moments with several characters. None of whom was the girl he married."

^ Are you kidding?! What about in OotP, where Harry and Ginny share a moment in the Library over the chocolate easter egg Mrs. Weasley sent him. Or the moment at Grimwald Place where Ginny reminded him she knows what its like to be possessed by Voldermort and reinsured that he isn't possessed.

If those are not "significant emotional moments" Harry had with Ginny then I don't know what is. O_o

I don't remember the OotP scene, but if you really want to call Ginny telling Harry to get the fuck over himself an "emotional moment" (rather than a heated one), I can only shrug.

I can cause read this Page 500:
"Then You-Know-Who hasn't ever possessed you." said Ginny simply. "When he did it to me, I couldn't remember what I'd been doing for hours at a time. I'd find myself somwhere and not know how I got there."

Harry hardly dared believe her, yet his heart was lightening almost in spite of himself.

and the Chocolate in the Library Pg 655:
"I wish I could talk to Sirius," he muttered. "But I know I can't."
Ginny continued to watch him thoughtfully. More to give himself something to do than because really wanted any, Harry unwrapped his Easter egg, broke off a large bit and put into his mouth.
"Well," said Ginny slowly, helping herself to a bit of egg too, " if you really want to talk to Sirius, I expect we could think of a way to do it..."
"Come one," said Harry dully. "With Umbridge policing the fires and reading all our mail?"
"The thing about growing up with Fred and George," said Ginny thoughtfully, "is that you sort of start thinking anything's possible if you've got enough nerve."
Harry looked at her. Perhaps is was the effect of the chocolate --Lupin had always advised eating some after encounters with dementors--or simply because he had finally spoken aloud the wish that had been burning insed him for a week, but he felt a bit more hopeful...

...dude, he was happy because he was afraid he was constantly being possessed by Voldemort and Ginny confirmed he wasn't. I actually loved that scene because it showed that they'd become friends and moved past her crush (that she acted on pretty embarrassingly, but hey, kids!), but then their relationship just became another standard hetero hookup. Digimon ending, heyo!

Just making a point that they did have some emotional moment and Ginny make him feel better letting him know that No voldermort wasn't possessing him and gave him some friendly advice about wanting to contact Sirius which also made him feel better. :)

That's nice? No one's saying they aren't canon, just that they had little to no romantic chemistry, which can be said for most of the canon pairings in the series. I mean, those scenes really read more like good friends than "blooming love". JK Rowling really should have just stuck to the story and kept away from romance, that would have made for a much better story.

Nah. Harry never noticed her and thought her ideas were silly just like he did with Hermione.

*still maintains that Luna was too good for all the boys we've seen in the series*

I love how this thread has been overrun with Harry/Ginny shippers acting immature and insulting people who ship other pairings/didn't see their OTP coming ten miles away. Some of you act just as bad as the other side. Protip: Just because Harry/Ginny is canon doesn't mean all other opinions and interpretations are invalid or that people can't ship other things.

No chemistry?

"I think dating opportunities are going to be pretty thin on the ground, to be honest."
"There's the silver lining I've been looking for," she whispered, and then she was kissing him as she had never kissed him before, and Harry was kissing her back, and it was blissful oblivion better than firewhisky; she was the only real thing in the world, Ginny, the feel of her, one hand at her back and one in her long, sweet-smelling hair--

DH, ch 7

That's fucking stupid. It's a story about Harry's life and all the forms of love that help him grow, that means familial, friendship, and romantic.

Did you understand the point of the books at all?

Heterophobia and butthurt FTL. I had my yaoi (Ken/Daisuke, Hikari/Miyako) AND het (Jyou/Mimi) Digiships sunk too, but I don't hold whiny and petty grudges more than TEN years after that.

Forgot to add yuri there, huh. But my point stands: it's been 10 years already, damn.

And also, female lead/male lead IS a textbook super typical hetero couple, so IDK why is it "sooooo different" and "soooo much better" from "female lead/male lead's friend" and "male lead/friend's sister".

...yeah, okay, deleted angry comment because I felt like a tool after posting. But I really think calling "heterophobia" is a little ridiculous when straight pairings are ALWAYS the norm.

Although holding onto a ship grudge for 10 years is pretty ridiculous, too. (Why are people still arguing over HP ships?)

It's okay! But I also don't like how some people seem to believe that hetero somehow means "inferior" or "stupid" no matter what else is it about. Maybe that's because as long as I like the dynamics in the pairing, IDGAF about it being het, yaoi or yuri.

And yeah, bitching for 10 years because of something that in the end is so damn small... it's useless. I did whine for the ship sinking that "affected" me, but in the end, it's just a fictional ship. No need to get that worked up.

I agree both because straight pairings are always the norm and because this isn't heterophobia, it's plain ol' misogyny. Ginny's bad because she's a bitch/slut/woman and Harry would be better off with someone else.
