Yes, god forbid a man flirt with a woman. It is the most evil of all evils. Tis the calm before the storm. Oh, and it's always men that act that way, never women, because women are angels capable of no wrong.

But hey, feel free to feel superior.

If your idea of flirting is to make crass jokes about the sexual life of women you've never met, then you're disgusting.

Also, nobody's denying that women can sexually harrass men. But this is not the case here, so why are you mentioning it?

I believe the technical term is 'derailing.'

Oh for fuck's sake.

It's a joke. A sexual joke. Big deal.

a) Go look up the definition of "sexual harassment" in the dictionary.
b) This is a joke for victims of REAL sexual harassment, too. Eyh, woman, your months of suffering are just the same as hearing a sexual joke! \o/// Really!

How many sexual jokes a day must someone endure before it becomes a big deal in your book? And from whom? Is it okay for just anyone anywhere to make sexual jokes to perfect strangers?

a) I personally agree that this case probably doesn't qualify as sexual harrassment - though the fact that the Santa guy seems to imply this is a joke he repeatedly made could possibly tip it onto the harrassment side, but I'm no lawyer so whatever. However, even if it's not harrassment, it's still vastly inappropriate and offensive.

b) Sexual harrassment does not have to be long or repeated. A single occurrence can be enough to qualify. Also, even if such jokes are not sexual harrassment by themselves, they certainly contribute to creating an atmosphere where it's considered all right for women to be constantly targeted by remarks about their sex life and what it should be like. And that is certainly bad.

Why is are you treating making lewd jokes at people like it's some kind of inalienable right you have? Imagine if every woman felt she had the right to come up to a guy and even just pretend to knee him in the balls for fun. Hey, it's just a joke, calm down!

Yes, this is a totally reasonable comparison.
After all that Santa did pretend to punch that woman in the fac--- OH WAIT.

I have a friend who is constantly hit on, even at work. Her work entails her wearing baggy winter clothes, no make-up and constantly smelling of animals. The sheer amount of men coming onto her, especially the persistent ones, have made her want to quit her job at times due to how anxious and uncomfortable she feels, just wondering if some guy is about to be hit on and how he'll take being rejected. Some of these guys have been fucking persistent, which just scares her.

This is where the "oh, it's just a JOKE" mentality takes us. One joke becomes many becomes constant come-ons. We don't want to fucking deal with that all the time, and we don't want to deal with the ANXIETY that comes with all that.

So yeah, kneeing a guy in the crotch seems about the same. Imagine going through your day - even at work - constantly wondering or afraid of being kneed in the balls. That's what it's like.

You know what? Yes. It is. As a woman, I feel damned uncomfortable every single time someone publicly makes a joke towards me. Because it happens so often an individual joke reminds me of the million times before and it builds up.

It's 'just' a sexual joke- but it's not actually funny to be leered at. OK?

The people who get to decide what a big deal it is or is not are those of us who actually have to feel shitty because of it.

What "crass jokes"? There was one mildly suggestive joke. One. And it was by no means "crass".

Yes, just one joke... among many. Again: how many such jokes a day must someone endure before it becomes a big deal? Because believe me: it's NEVER just one joke or remark - not where I live, anyway.

And yes, to me, it's crass. It's crass because it reduces the woman's entire life to her sex life, and because it implies that prude and/or vanilla women are not as fun or interesting as more sexually liberated women. This is truly unrefined and disgusting commentary, thus it's crass.
