moriath posts to otf_wank. There is much wank. Should you sign comments? Everyone wants puppies to die horrible deaths because they don't leap to action? kittenmommy is highly amused with the wank, won't stop wanking, and is deeply wounded we do not care about animals?

I really don't get the point of signing comments. On mailing lists, sure since all you got there is your email identifying you but with JF/LJ your name is already attached to the message. I also don't get when replying to someone, copy and pasting the entire message into your reply. Again on mailing lists and on forums, sure since they're set up differently but it's not necessary here. (Reply to this)(Thread)

I've spent most of the day offline trying to get Pokey the PC running again. My iBook hates Virtual PC and Windows XP Pro, and little Pokey decided that he didn't want to start up this morning so that I could print my homemade Christmas cards from Publisher. I only mention this because wasting spending the whole afternoon working on the tedious reinstalls of everything gave me time away to think rationally about this whole kerfluffle, and I realized that I behaved quite badly (and stupidly and wankily) from the very beginning all the way through to the end. The most rational thing I did was decide to walk away from the wank before it could escalate any further - a decision I should've made a long time ago. Anyway, I feel that I owe the wank comms an apology for behaving like such an exquisite asshat. I'm sorry I began all of this by posting that post to Fandom_Lounge, where it was so wildy off-topic. I honestly don't know what I was thinking. I was so enraged by what I read that my immediate reaction was to spread the word to as many people as I could. Unfortunately, I didn't stop to think rationally about it first (you know - whether the outrage against the kids "getting away with it" had any merit, whether Fandom_Lounge was an appropriate venue for posting it, etc.). I briefly considered deleting the post, but I thought that would probably only lead to cries of "bahleeted!!" and further wank. If people think it should be deleted, say the word and I'll be happy to do it. I also must apologize for not using a cut. I'm not a JF or LJ n00b, but I still sometimes forget. Most of my posts are in reply to others. I don't usually begin discussions and when I do, they're usualy short posts that wouldn't require a cut. I'm not accustomed to using cuts and it honestly didn't occur to me to use one for that. I'm only human, after all. I'm very sorry that some people got the whole article on their flist and (understandably) freaked out. Rest assured that I've learned my lesson. Above all else, I feel really stupid for not remembering one of the most fundamental rules of online interaction: Do not post when you're so angry that you can't even see straight. I was angry about what was done to that puppy and I (stupidly) began to take that out on people who didn't respond the way I thought they should. Due to my outrage I was ready for a fight, and sure enough I found one. But it was stupid of me to fight with people who basically agreed with me but had problems with the way I was expressing myself and with the (inappropriate) forum in which I chose to express it. Several people even pointed this out to me, but by then I was so far gone in the wank that I ignored it. I needed some time and distance before I could look at it rationally and realize that they were right. I also feel stupid for being so obstinate about refusing to stop signing my posts. I was indeed told a while ago that that signing one's posts isn't considered good form on JournalFen, but I shrugged it off and for a while nothing more was said about it. I didn't realize it was such a serious breach of etiquette. As for having 11 cats and a dog, I'm not going to justify my life to anyone, and I certainly wouldn't expect anyone else to justify their lives to me, either. Aside from the fact that no one owes anyone (well, at least not complete strangers on the 'net) a justification for the choices they make in life, that's not what the wank comms are for (in my opinion). In closing, I want to say that I'm really sorry for all of this. It was pure stupidity from start to finish, and I feel really dumb for beginning it and continuing to feed it. This is the last I'm going to say about it here or anywhere else, because I don't want to begin the whole cycle of wank up again. And now I have to go resume my battle with Pokey the PC, who does not even want to install Publisher, let alone run it. (Reply to this)(Thread)
