Current mood:*sporfle!*

I have no idea what's going on here...
I'm not in the SPN fandom, and don't watch the show, and have no godly idea what the hell the mice are talking about, but this kerfuffle brewing in the comments of the anonymous wank report has been amusing me today.

...also, I'm a bitch too because I laughed at the delicious.com account.

I'm not in the SPN fandom, I do watch the show, and I can never figure out what the hell anyone's talking about.

I am, however, familiar with the dreaded Nora Charles post, which probably kicked the delicious.com thing off.

Courtesy of my friendslist, I'm also familiar with her post on the horrors of cruelly mocking people with plant fetishes. Hey, it made my day.

Ha ha haaa, I can see why people would be pissed about the tree-marrying thing, but, ummm.. plant fetishes? I write giant robot pr0n and I think that's kind of wierd. Of course I am also now curious about it and want to know the mechanics of such a fetish. Hooray for the intarwebz!

Yeah, I saw her point about them saying they didn't care about same-gender marriage but she totally lost me with the plant fetish. I did see an interesting movie on Veoh about people (all women, actually) who love inanimate objects. I'm sure there are tree-loving folks out there. *refuses to make obvious cucumber joke*

You have now piqued my curiosity. Where is this video of which you speak?

I saw it on Veoh. Here's Part 1:

http://www.veoh.com/browse/videos/category/activism_non_profit/watch/v18316421QMCntr9Y

Though apparently it was placed there from YouTube, the title is "Married to the Eiffel Tower."

(Youtube says something about it being the "corrected version" but I'm not sure which one I saw if there are two.)

Wasn't there a woman who "married" the Berlin Wall too?

Yeah, she's in this video too.

(I knew I had been on the net too long when my friend told me about this video and all I had to say was "Is Mrs. Berlin Wall in it?")

I...what?

Because marrying plants is SRS BSNS. I'd hate to see her thoughts on Aishwarya Rai allegedly marrying a tree.

On a somewhat related note, [info]caito has an icon of Sugitchi in bridal gear.

...so is there any real legitimacy in her reading of that j2 story, or are the dogpilers the correct ones? Because her description is terrifying.

I haven't read and won't read the story, but some of the dogpilers are known wankers from the HP fandom.

One of the dogpilers is a good friend of mine. I'm shocked to see her in the middle of this, and acting so condescendingly to someone who was triggered. I think I'll read the story and see if the reaction's legit, even though SPN RPS isn't exactly my thing.

I'm surprised by one of them, too, because she was on my flist for a very long time and always made a sane impression. I'm not surprised by one of the others because I and other friends have had dealings with her before.

Okay, I just read it. IMO "correct" is somewhere in the middle. No way is it an "arranged marriage" fic. But I don't see it as harmless shmoop, either. The family members do guilt-trip the hell out of Jensen. They do tie him up and toss him in a tighly covered truck bed for what's implied to be a very long trip (I found this part a bit hard to read, and I can easily see someone being triggered by it). And yes, his mother (or Jared's, I don't know the RPS fandom and don't know the mothers' first names) is mainly upset that he was forced to stay in the truck bed for the duration as the intent was only to kidnap him for part of the way and let him ride up front thereafter, presuming he wouldn't have any other way to get back. If that's schmoop, I don't get out much. Also, Jensen does wake up with Jared forcibly holding him down, and when he says "get off me", Jared doesn't. It then moves into consensual sex. And clearly J&J love each other, and the families love them, beyond the kidnapping there's no abuse here.

It's not non-con, but I can see someone maybe hanging a dub-con warning on it, and I can see someone asking for a warn for the kidnapping, maybe.

I think kidnapping in a fic being characterized as "fluff" horrifies me more than any dark!fic I've read.

Reading a bigbang fic is definitely going above and beyond, so thanks for taking one for the team!

That casts Nora Charles' backpeddling about this being a "distorted mirror" reading of the fic in an interesting light. I wonder how much of that is just an attempt to avoid wank.

I do not understand why people think this sort of behavior is funny.

It's funny how responses can change one's view on a post. I could definitely have read that first link as being a bit condescending and whatnot, but having several "UR STUPID" comments makes hers seem much more reasonable.

From one of the Nora Charles links:

It's an RPS AU, which means it's an m/m fic about original characters, and the characters have been "cast" with the names and likenesses of real people.

Okay, I really don't get the point of a fic like this. Why not just put a little note at the start saying "imagine that this is a TV show with the characters played by actors X, Y and Z"?

...yeah I don't get it either. Trying to figure out a fic like that seems like to much work for fanfic reading to me. But then, I'm lazy.

At least I hate Danneel for legitimate reasons; ie she's fucking Jensen Ackles.

Heh. I can sort of appreciate that kind of honesty. Clearly the mouse is touched in the head, but it's not nearly as obnoxious when they're so upfront about it.

I know, right? I just wanted to pat them on the head for being sane about why Daneel pisses them off. Normally, SPN fandom appears to have so little common sense sloshing about in their gene pool.
