I know Thor is specifically red-haired and red-bearded (I've spent... quite a bit of time on Wikipedia trolling around the Norse mythology posts for mostly unrelated reasons), but I don't think he's a redhead in the comics.

Also, apparently there IS some unfunny involving some of the villain names, but I don't know how true it is.
