So, misery loves company. That's exactly why I'm sharing this with you lovely folks.

Hypersurfaces on LJ went to Wiscon, which is "hosted" by her university and attended by some of her peers. Lo, it did upset her, and made her write a long rant on Something Awful forums (rant mirrored here on SASS forums, SA's meta-wank forum) where she is a member. Said rant includes insults not limited to: fat people, feminists, fat people okay with being fat, POCs, transpeople, children, and those wacky new-age folks, and are accompanied by pictures of said people with sad little faces drawn over them, because Hypersurfaces is witt-tay. Other Wiscon attendees find it, get upset, and take action by finding and posting her rl info (posting is also done by the SASS goons after the thread gets taken down, however, and clearly the Wiscon organizer disapproves of the fandom side). One Wiscon and university attendee sends Hypersurfaces an e-mail that they will contact her prof (or dean?) unless the thread gets taken down.

With the possibility of getting in trouble, Hypersurfaces asks SA to take down the thread (they do) and apologizes. (I read it before she deleted it; she apologized profusely for I believe the entirety of the rant, said it was completely out of line and begotten from some emotional reason (who knows), but now it's gone). En route, there are threats also made that threaten her physical harm and other letters sent to her employers, accusing her of sexual harassment. Whereupon I assume she deleted her earlier apology and instead posted this, where she apologizes for insulting the kids, but not the rest.

In any case, the debate within fandom all comes down to this: "~~THERECANBEONLYONE~~ What do fandom community standards say about in RL trolling? Shithead went and made us miserable, sexually harrassed us, outed us to potential dangers, etc. Was she really a fan, and therefore we should consider the standards? But if she wasn't, what should we do? Do the 'standards' protect anyone from being an asshat? Or is it just a matter of keeping your Harry Potter porn quiet from the boss? Etc."

And then all of this is reported by PyrateJenni on Unfunnybusiness (modded by PJ), except with a whole lot less detail. The post immediately goes downhill, as many disagree with PJ's summation or take offense to her seemingly random, yet specific, inclusion of Coffeeandink, and she responds to. every. single. comment. angrily, even if they don't disagree with her! Soon enough people who are in the know-how join the discussion, and everything explodes in schlicking (or fapping) fury.

Your wank is unfunny and to do with racism, which is not funny? FAIL

You are heavily, unashamedly involved in beginning and perpetuating the wank? FAIL.

When people point out your fail, you get defensive and snippy, insinuate that everybody else is WRONG in their interpreation or knowledge of the rules, and post an annoyed, passive-aggressive comment about how they are WRONG? FAIL FAIL FAIL.

ghostmaster is similarly unimpressed by the overuse of passive-aggressive smiley faces.

Frankly, no one cares what the actual wank is about. The few hardy souls who do click on the link discover an extra-special bonus dimension of fail: anyamarcos has provided the real first name, location, and other identifying information of the target of her ire. And apparently also reported his Internet Shenanigans to his parents. OR SO SHE SAYS.

Mods delete the original otf_wank post, as well as the subsequent i_wank redux, a) for linking to personal info and b) because said target of said ire is still in high school, and so might be underage. anyamarcos says he's over 18, but then anyamarcos is demonstrably a dumbass, so draw your own conclusions.

Some garden-variety HP wank of the "JKR sucks because she didn't cater to my tastes so I'm gonna be pompus and lecture her on how to be a better writer" persuasion is posted. There's some kerfuffle over whether it's really wank or not, but a true treat comes in the form of this thread, in which napalmnacey informs us that the series is "a goddamn mess" because JKR explicitly spelled out in book 7 what should have been obvious from at least book 4. peachespig tries pointing out that it's the fans who are the mess, not JKR, if it had to come to that point for them to finally accept reality. This starts off loads of Not Getting It and much of the fap fap fap.

There's plenty of good shit in there, but my favorite parts:

At any rate, wank or not, the nest of Doctor Who mice who live at wank_report jump in and decide that there must. be. wank. somewhere. (The mod in question puts out a call for a new mod who ships Doctor/Donna, because she doesn't want to read "that shippy stuff". It's not like looking at her icons gives one the impression that she only cares about Rose or anything.) Doctor Who: everyone wanks.

Secondly, someone notes that nostalgia's anon meme is "One big wankfest on why every Rose fan is batship", &c. _morrigan_ is yet another person who is surprised at how many people didn't know the term "miscegenation" before the wank. And I was one of them.

elian and dana both point out it's mostly used by Americans, with dana expressing some annoyance on the subject.

melannen is in turn annoyed by all those people from other countries saying they don't see why they should know/use an American term.

And let me say here that I was never more glad that the closest I get to this fandom is watching the show and laughing at the macros at I Has a Tardis.

So now after editing the report and posting it here I wanted to point out that wanking is still going on, but because I'm poor at explaining it, I will leave it up to you to decide where it belongs, because...

This meta wank report is not meant to be a proper meta wank report. It doesn't follow the traditional structure of a wank report. This is because of my poor writing skills. What cathowl is doing, is fapping with his imaginary toys and putting on a public masturbation show the likes you have never seen. Please, won't you watch cathowl fap?

If the wank is going too slowly for you, cathowl doesn't care. cathowl can fap with his toys as fast or slowly as he likes ~~until he is done getting off~~ I also don't care if If you don't like the tone of my wank report because I am a special snowflake.

Frankly, zannechaos, the mod doesn't give a damn. And neither does anyone else it seems. Nope, we were all too distracted by Nazi tits to realize we're losing the community to that damn stupid_free.

With "why are you even a member?!" accusations flying (in this thread and another one), it's only a matter of time before the "elite card" gets pulled, someone fails at life, and there is a TLDR discussion on what constitutes "funneh".

This is why we can't have nice things, Clairvoyant Wank. Seriously, Actor Terrence Howard and my report bring the wank.

Short Version: I find an ONTD post entitled ""Actor Terrence Howard: 'There Will Never Be A Gay Rapper'" There is wank involved. I post it to CW because I'm not sure if it goes to FW. People get upset about the wording of my post, I guess (that's what I saw he was saying, but whatever). Fandom Wank forgets itself for a moment (we are here to mock, not bring the wank) and spooges all over everything.

The quote that started the whole thing:
