» What are user pictures? How do I upload them? User pictures are icons or avatars used to represent yourself, your moods or feelings, your interests, etc. They are displayed in numerous locations on JournalFen, including your userinfo page, your journal, the friends view of people who list you as a friend, comments, support requests, and the comments pages of your entries. In certain situations, you are given the option of selecting the user picture you'd like to use, rather than only displaying your default user picture. To upload your user pictures, go to http://www.journalfen.net/editpics.b The picture must be a .GIF, .JPG, or .PNG. The actual picture can be no larger than 100x100 pixels, and the file size cannot be greater than 40kb. The image file must be on your local computer, or be accessible via a URL. After entering your username and password, click on the "Browse..." button beside the file box, and go find the image on your computer. Alternately, you can select the URL option and the type in the Internet location of your image. Submit the form, and your default picture will appear on your journal (as long as the journal style you have chosen supports user picture display), on your profile, and when you make a comment. To set your default picture, enter or change keywords, or delete your pictures, go to http://www.journalfen.net/editpics.bml To see all of your pictures, log in and visit: http://www.journalfen.net/allpics.bml. Last Updated: » How many user pictures can I have? The number of pictures you're allowed to have at any one time depends on your account type. * Free Accounts: 10 pictures * Early Adopters: 20 pictures * Paid Accounts: 500 for Paid Basic, 1000 for Paid Premium * Permanent Accounts: Various number of pictures If your paid status expires and you have more pictures currently stored on the server than your account type allows, your pictures will remain on the server. However, some of them will be marked "inactive." Which pictures will be marked "inactive" is dependent on the frequency with which each one has been used in the last two months in your own journal. Posts to communities and comments are not taken into account. Your default picture will remain active, along with the pictures you have used most frequently in your own journal, for a total of twenty pictures for Early Adopters, and five for users with Free Accounts. Inactive pictures will remain visible in all old entries or comments that you made using them. However, you will not be able to choose to use the inactive pictures on new entries or comments. In order to restore the inactive pictures to activity, you would need to return your account to paid status. If you decide to upload a new picture when you are at or over the maximum for your current account type, you will need to delete pictures until you are at the correct number of pictures for your current account type and have made room for the new picture.
