Did anyone else find it absolutely hilarious that President-Elect Obama promised his kids a puppy during his speech last night?

Also, I recently watched the first episode of Transformers: Chins.

I have to say, it's pretty freakin' hilarious and I think I love it.

Oh, Blitzving. ♥

We went to see Wall-E on Saturday (...I think) and it was very cute and the adorable little kid in front of us cried twice and that was also very cute.

I got a :CueCat. It is neat. And easy to declaw. And useful!

I just finished episode ten of Loveless and I'm waiting for 3 and 4 of the manga to come in the mail. (Although Amazon hasn't indicated they've shipped yet. Grr! Amazon! Hop to it!) Yamato and Kouya are SO CUTE OMG. ♥ I love them and I want to hug them and give them matching cute cellphone danglies. (The ending song to the anime is also enunciated very beautifully and I kind of totally love listening to it.)

I like my new hours. I can stay up later! And sleep in later! ...of course, I also have to be at work later, but I don't really mind. And I am kind of glad I get off at six, because apparently that's when they turn the air conditioning off and oh my god it has been hot lately.

So, yes, I've kind of started getting into Loveless. The manga is adorable and cute. The anime actually tells me who is what gender, which makes the manga make more sense. The anime is also ridiculous and overdramatic. There are so many Dramatic Winds and Scattering Blossoms that I keep exclaiming "...I'm pregnant." which is giving my Dad a complex so Mom has banned me from watching it when they're home.

Yes.

Anyway.

My team at work got Most Improved for the month of April (which has National Volunteer Week or something in it), so last Wednesday they took us off the phones for four hours to go dig out blackberry roots and plant trees on a hill to provide shade for a salmon-bearing stream in Mill Creek for Adopt a Stream.

I am sore (but not sunburned!) and happy. I've also contacted the warm water dog pool in Edmonds, and they seem like very nice people who are interested in the safety and health of the dogs and people who visit. I'm going to see if I can go see them tomorrow morning to get a feel for the experience and to get some more information.

Computer, computer users, and Things That Aren't So Bad. Rant. Ranty McRantrant. )

In Game-of-FFVII-Where-Everybody-Is-Named-Sephiroth News:

GameFAQs is my friend at finding out who the hell I can put in my party, lemme tell you.

Choose your party:
-Sephiroth, come with me!
-Sephiroth, join us!
-Hey Sephiroth, over here!

THAT GETS OLD FAST.

Dialogue is hilarious, though. I just got the chocobo lure materia and crossed the swamp where the Zolom lives so I think we're just about to meet Elena. Crisis Core was a lot more true to the original game than I remembered and it is a joy finding everything they COPIED IDENTICALLY except prettier.

Anyway, I'm halfway through laundry so I'm going to go finish that up. So I can have clothes. To wear. Which is good.

ps. The vast majority of fandom for Loveless is...special. Also, apparently, can't read. But I suppose I should have seen that coming. Also, del.icio.us is awesome.

pps. By the way? Firefox? Uninstall and uninstalling are actually words. I promise.

HEY. DID YOU GUYS SEE THIS? http://community.livejournal.com/lj_policy/1935.html

Pleasant surprises! From LJ! ...have we gone back in time?

I...I actually have an urge to renew my paid account. This seems to be genuine head-out-of-assery. I very much hope this trend continues so I can continue to throw money at LJ, which previously, I found enjoyable.

The other day I had a dream about [PEOPLE FROM WORK] trying to figure out the root cause of [ONGOING ISSUE FROM WORK]. I woke up, went, "Augh, having dreams about work." and then went back to sleep. The next day, I went to work and checked my email. [ONGOING ISSUE FROM WORK]'s root cause had been figured out and there was now a prevention for it, if not a cure.

...augh, having prophetic dreams about work?

Ah, well.

[info]oui_je_danse throws fantastic tea parties. And doesn't mind if I randomly start nosebleeding while sitting on her couch! (Stupid cold.) Company was good, tea was good, fud was good, and now I've finally seen the Kiera Knightly version of Pride and Prejudice. (In which Mr. Darcy seemed as amazed at her lack of boobs as all of us, judging by the way he kept staring at her chest.)

I'm seeing a serious need for icons from this Youtube video. LOL internet, you see.

Stupid calls today. Killed my handle time. Had almost an hour of involuntary OT today and took my lunch way late, but after my last call ended we had a DNS failure and the queue leaped up. Ha. *dodges bullet*

SakuraCon is this weekend!

I have a chiropractor tomorrow morning and I'll be heading down after that. If you are in the North Seattle/Shoreline area and you need a ride, give me a holler? I have Google Maps and I've been there a few times before so I figure this makes me invincible.

I'm wondering if I should toss my Pyramid Head stuff in the trunk and bring it...it's my lovable cheap costume that I prefer to growl at people with on Halloween, but it would be disturbingly fun to put PH helmets on cosplayers and take their pictures and I kind of totally want to do that. *snerk*

...you know what? I really like the part where I get paid tomorrow, but don't have to go to work.

(Did anyone ever actually use the free online play from WotC? *coughs*)

There is a difference, you know.

Wizards of the Coast is owned by Hasbro, my favourite giant soulless corporation. Hasbro sells me ponies and robots that turn into cars! Hasbro has a children's health charity. Hasbro provides excellent customer service. LiveJournal keeps getting sold to random people who make a whole bunch of changes, get in the news a few times for pissing off their userbase, then sell it off to more random people with dodgy motives. (Anyone else hear about those SUP censorship rumours? Any substance to that or was it just in soviet russia LJ hates everybody but brad?)

This sounds better, though.

---

I have been sick now for a full week plus a day. Today was the FIRST day I felt better instead of worse when I woke up.

I also had a chiropractor appointment. And a walk in the sun when I went to mail Bookmooch packages.

I feel so in love with the world right now. It's that whole 'able to breathe through my nose' thing.

Look! Dancing animal videos! AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME dancing animal videos.

Excellent joke re: Walla Walla onions right here, folks.

And now, off to hang out with some awesome people I don't get to see nearly as often as I'd like.

Please ignore the fact that I totally wrote LiverJournal.

Although, honestly, that sounds hilarious.

I had a four hour call this morning and that kind of totally sucked.

I'm also sick, have had a sore throat since Friday, had a bloody nose last night, my neck hurts, and I have random periods where I can't breathe through my nose.

Somebody give me a hug? I can't sneeze on you if it's an internet hug! There aren't even any germs!

ps. But Beast Wars came in the mail today and I have laughed until I genuinely lost my voice. I do hope it comes back tonight so I can...uh...work tomorrow.

The Rodney McKay Principle of Consumerism as applied to LiverJournal by [info]darkrosetiger (and a more explained translation from Russian user [info]furiosity here)

Important line from that second article: Translating a Russian interview into English directly will make pretty much any Russian sound like a complete dickwad, because cultural expectations are completely different.

But really, it helps if that individual is a complete dickwad to begin with.

Mr. Anton Nosik? I want to vomit in your shoes. I hope you die in a fire. I honestly hope you die screaming and burning. You bought LiveJournal, you did NOT buy its userbase.

But hey, I'm just a terrorist and a troublemaker! Never mind the fact that I've been a paid user since the time of invite codes, I'm clearly not the kind of person Anton Nosik wants on his precious moneymaker.

Now give me that misplaced comma so I can shove it into the part of your brain that thought buying an American company without learning any goddamn thing about the American consumer was a good idea. WE DON'T LIVE IN SOVIET RUSSIA. GUESS WHAT. NEITHER DO YOU. Now stop with the Laurell K Hamilton School of Dealing With Criticism.

7-4, Fridays and Saturdays off.

Which, is awesome. It's not quite as awesome as 9:30-6:30, but awesome in it's own way. Plus, I LOVE working on Sundays so this is super sweet. =D

This does mean I'll be taking a sick day for SakuraCon, though. I haven't taken a single sick day yet, though, so I think I can afford to splurge for one. Hee. But this also means I'll be too frazzled for NorWesCon, as it's right in the middle of changing shifts. Boo. Poor NorWesCon.

ALSO, ALSO, ALSO, [info]oui_je_danse YEY. I'll be late, but I'm totally coming. :3

Mom started watching The Dutchess of Duke Street. It's...uh, trashy romance novels in tv format and oh my god netflix account I will never leave you.

My LiveJournal paid account expires, I think, this Friday.

I am not renewing it.

In fact, I'm changing Semagic to have InsaneJournal as the main logged-in journal.

LiveJournal's new overlords has decided LiveJournal is now the exact opposite of what [info]brad originally designed it for and hoped it would become. Here's Brad's response to this change.

In case you haven't heard, which isn't too hard to believe considering the staff only reluctantly admitted it in a comment buried in the 100th Day newspost, LiveJournal has decided to remove the option of Basic accounts. All accounts are now either ad-supported or paid or permanent. If your account userid is below 15136000 (look at the number in parenthesis next to your username on your profile), or as the FAQ puts it "Basic Account is an option available to accounts which were created before March 12, 2008.", your account can convert back to Basic.

Everyone else? Fuck you. LiveJournal has decided it no longer needs to listen to the userbase, tell the truth to the userbase, show basic respect to the userbase, or provide the bare minimum of acceptable customer service to the userbase.

The justification for this change?

"From a product perspective it was more about creating a new registration process that was easier for new users to understand."

That's right. Apparently, we're all too fucking stupid to make our own decisions. Three choices is just so hard! Thank GOD LiveJournal is here to think for us! Now our choices are much simpler! Give them money or give them money! Awesome! Man, we should hire them for the next US presidential election!

I am no longer interested in being a customer of LiveJournal. I am interested in actively discouraging people to sign up for any social networking site BUT LiveJournal.

At this point, I would rather get a MySpace than continue with LiveJournal.

I am very upset and very disappointed. I can also count HIGHER THAN THREE. GODDAMNIT. IF YOU WANTED MONEY, JUST SAY SO. AUGH.

...uh, I'm not watching the My Little Pony movie again. Just in case you were wondering.

But we did take our very first LaptopConnect calls today. It didn't go too badly. =D

Our network works, our hardware works, our software works, it's mostly just the gazillion settings and programs on the individual computers that are the problem.

...or the customer hasn't hit the giant orange "Connect" button yet.

*snickers*

Although, seriously, mumbling truckers on speakerphone I could do without. Anyone on speakerphone, really. It's really hard to understand people on speakerphone. >_o

Twice today we had people where I was completely unable to tell if they were doing a yes-grunt or a no-grunt. Please, please, please say "Yes, my computer has booted up." or "No, my computer is still booting up." don't just go "(unintelligible mumble/groan/grunt/wail/thunk/banana)".
