So I am a member of a community on LJ that is doing a Dollhouse rewatch from the original unaired pilot "Echo" all the way to Season Two's "Epitaph Two: The Return." You can find the community at dhouse_rewatch. Tonight we watched the original unaired pilot "Echo" and I've decided to do a weekly post about the series. (If you're interested in joining, the schedule will be one episode per week. The episode is aired at 6PM PST/9PM PST on Friday nights. There are two discussion posts: the first is while the episode is "airing" so that people can talk about it while they watch it and then a general discussion post afterwards.

Just because, here is my original post about this episode that wrote July 17 2009 when I first watched it.

post #36: did i fall asleep?

So I just finished watching the original pilot episode for Dollhouse. The one that Fox rejected because test audiences found it "too confusing and dark."

Spoilers aside, I really liked this look. I am going to try to watch the thirteenth episode either tonight or tomorrow.

Sometimes it's ok to pimp yourself out. Post a list of your top five fic-favorites you've written, regardless of fandom or the reason you love them. This isn't about the BEST things you've written, but what you LOVE most. Then tag five other people to do the same.

01. Mouth - Dark Angel, Max/Alec, FR13. This is one fic that essentially wrote itself. It's Max/Alec angst dealing with the fact that Max wants him but won't admit it and is using him and his feelings to help her find a cure for the virus and they both know it. The fic turned out exactly how I wanted it to.

02. Nightmares - Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Fr13, Buffy-centric. This is not my typical style of writing and it was a plot bunny that attacked me and I had to write it. If I remember correctly I was on the train on my way home from work and I wrote this. It actually turned out just how I envisioned it.

03. Phantasm - Buffy The Vampire Slayer/Supernatural crossover, FR13, Faith/Dean. I had been reading this book full of a lot of creepy imagery that I just couldn't shake. This story was inspired by said book and it's the only story that I've ever written that actually creeped me out a bit with the direction it went.

04. Dreaming - Harry Potter, FRM (sexual situations, language), Hermione/Bellatrix. I love the idea of Hermione/Bellatrix paired off together and this was one of my first fics with this pairing. I really should do a minor re-write of it to fix minor errors but it is still one of my favourite fics that I've ever written.

05. Resurrection - Buffy the Vampire Slayer, FR15, Darla/Buffy. This was probably one of the hardest fics that I've ever had to write but it was also one of the most rewarding fics. It went completely different from how I'd originally intended it when I got the prompt from [info]femslash_minis but I ended up loving the end result.

I tag anyone who hasn't done this but would like to.

Post 31: Whatever happened to using our imaginations? (open)

Over the last month or so, I've been reading a lot of Harry Potter fanfiction and I've started to notice a trend that I find troubling. I haven't really seen this in other fandoms, so I don't know if it's something that is specific to the Harry Potter fandom.

The trend is that when someone describes something that someone is wearing, they will most often link to a picture of the outfit that they have either envisioned the character wearing or a similar outfit. I have seen people requesting in the reviews for an image of an outfit. Some authors will have the link in either author's notes at the start or end of the fic (or chapter), while others will link to the image in the text.
