    Honest fandom question
This has been vaguely bothering me for a while. When does an RP character become a Sue? The usual guidelines of how OOC she warps the characters/universe don't exactly apply, because I can't control anything outside of her little sphere of the game (which overlaps greatly with several canon characters, and I usually play subordinate to them), and I can't control how any canon characters treat her.

The problem is that she's becoming very important to several of them, who also happen to be among my favorites. It's not entirely my fault; in almost all cases, the characters were cut off from the people they were close to in canon, and because the characters were getting that isolated, I offered them the chance for more interaction by befriending my character. She's also become a major confidant for one character, because she has no connection to his problems, and she sometimes knows more about important events than characters who have more reason to know about those events (though that's a common occurrence with characters in our RP), because she pokes her nose into things too often for her own good.

Maybe it would be easier if I organized things into lists.

    Sue traits
    -intelligent
-very close friends with fairly secretive characters
-at least one character trusts her more than his canon "family" not that they've done jack-shit to earn his trust in this game... /bitter
-some canon PCs seem OOC around her
-could probably get away with being a bitch to several characters (and that's about to get tested...)
-based on me (because I'm still a n00b with RPs and didn't want to make it any harder than I had to, and I think we've diverged)
-American in England (but except for some disappearing homesickness angst, that's not too noticeable, I think...)

    Anti-Sue traits
-overly-inquisitive, to the point of putting her in personally uncomfortable situations several times (and fucked her up mentally once)
-not magical at all in a world with a lot of very powerful magicians (most of her friends are magical in some way)
-not hooking up with anyone in-game
-feels genuinely sorry and guilty when she does hurt someone
-in general, mistakes do come back to bite her, because I think they should

I've talked with people who know more about the particulars, and they say that she's not a Sue, but some of them also have an interest in keeping me in the game with her. So, other opinions and/or advice?
