Well, that's helpful.
They probably thought that CCS was a Pokemon "Gotta Catch 'Em All" ripoff series, thanks in no small part to Nelvana's butchering attempts to make it one.
But thinking that the theme was "homosexual relationships"... no. You fail CCS forever. Or at least until you can contemplate thinking without labels.
