Dunno if you've heard, but the Northeast US got hit with a freak winter storm this weekend. The snow was heavy and wet, and since it's so early, the trees still had leaves. Long story short, lots of branches broken under the weight, which led to lots of downed power lines. We were without power for just over 24 hours, and it was Not Fun. Especially as we have electric heat. But power's back for us now, and it's getting restored across town. Plus a family friend had power all of yesterday, so we went over to her place for a hot dinner and to charge up our cell phones.
Also, at least in our town, Halloween trick-or-treating is postponed by the town until next Sunday, which I think is a nice gesture. Though it's not so helpful when those updates are sent by phone message, which the people without power probably can't receive...
