Must have fanfic. Spirk/Snarry/both ... No matter what anyone other than me says, Herschelle Gibbs is a darling. And Graeme Smith is a nasty piece of work. Was, Is and Will Always Be. Everyone should follow Albie Morkel's twitter, only for the inadvertent Super-LULZ --- both pics and tweets. A real trueblue entertainer, albeit involuntary :D :D Graeme Swann's twitter is very pleasant to read :) Dalai Lama's is one twitter I will never, ever 'unfollow'. The moron I was interested in following/terribly worried about only opened his this week, that unmitigated nitwit ! Don't ask ! Now, to fanfics ... ... |

Is my mind permanently in the gutter/USpolitics/both gutter-and-USpolitics or is this twitter update I just read - from a slightly oblivious silly ass - 'If you love the bush follow @kingscamplodge for daily sighting updates..' really hilarious ? Especially as I have no doubt the post-er didn't think it funny :D Thank heavens for the Dalai Lama ... At least his twitter updates are comparatively sensible. 4/17/11 04:34 am - Ah yes, it was IE...
And all this time, while I fretted over the problems I had whenever I tried to post in ij, or open specific friend's pages in ij - forget posting comments ! - it was 'Internet Explorer' messing with the process. The difficulties happened intermittently for dw as well, and it all made me slightly unhappy and unable to interact in those places. And now I am using 'Safari', and I can actually do all that which were being stopped up by that damn 'IE'. Well ! I am using Windows, and I expect IE to behave ! If it doesn't, and I find out, then I don't have any qualms about abandoning it. Not at all. My oven has died. I want to get a new one. I don't know whether to get a plain oven or one of those new-fangled microwave-and/or-oven functional thingies. I must decide before it is Monday morning. I can't live without a functioning oven ! 4/8/11 05:06 am - A few days ago, India won the 'Cricket World Cup'. Nice....
So, Gary Kirsten is now the best/most valuable coach in cricket. He actually turned the whole of the Indian team nearly sapient. And Allan Donald is definitely the best bowling coach, having coaxed the NZ bowlers - except Daniel Vettori - to near-sapience, too. They would do well to go home and rub everyone's faces in this, because when they were playing, theirs was the best team their country ever had. Till vested interests turned most of them into dirty words and some into targets for knowing too much. It only remains to be seen if it is humanly possible for South Africa to appoint someone even more ruthlessly evil than Graeme Smith as the captain of their national cricket team. Btw, Gary Kirsten should never, ever coach the RSA team. Not if the poor darling values his sanity - or what's left of it - after having coached the Indian national team to a 'Cricket World Cup' win. Personally, I am pleased that India has won this cup before. At least, in 1983, when Kapil Dev's team won the 'Cup', the outcome of the tournament hadn't been 'decided' beforehand. This year, the only snags in this tournament were (i) England's unpredictability (Viva Swanny !) and (ii) that Pakistan had to spoil the party by playing the semi against India rather than the final. Now that second one in particular put many people's noses out of joint, innit ? Especially that of the organisers and involved 'associates' Tut, tut. ;D ETA : No one should ever try to escape the consequences of natural laws - for example, Newton's Third. It doesn't work :D :D ... |
3/19/11 07:26 am - My mind is unsettled these days...
Getting the current newses from/of Japan feels like watching a particularly doom-laden horror film. Some places are evacuating their citizens ; India certainly is *heroically resists referencing certain rodentlike tendencies*. People of certain other places (especially one starting with 'U') are freaking out bigtime on facebook ; although, having mentioned facebook, I see that mentioning 'U' before that was quite redundant, really (a few years ago, and the freak-out would have been on 'myspace'). I'm sure they are freaking out elsewhere, and everywhere else, as well. Personally, I'd like to get exact news of what the situation is, but one may get that only from people at the worst disaster- (and possibly impending disaster-) sites, and they are, I guess, too busy trying to resolve the situation to come online for informing me in particular. The few people I know from/in Japan, and their families and friends, seem to be alright. So far. So far. I've had a slightly disturbing week myself. Complete with a wrongly calculated phone bill which almost freaked me out. This has been resolved yesterday. I've watched a film that made me feel somewhat disturbed. It was '8 mm'. However, I did feel it was very well presented. Very truthful. I also rewatched 'Moby Dick'. I love whales. I especially love Sperm Whales. They are completely amazing beings :) However, I did bath my now somewhat-grown-up kitten one day. It was the best entertainment I've had in a very long time. At the first splash of water on him, he jumped onto the porcelain Goddess, screaming bloody murder. I pulled him back and poured a little more. I did feel it was necessary to wet him thoroughly before I could lather him, and I really needed to bath him properly because he seemed to have picked up three or four fleas. Or ticks. Or something small, dark and insecty that moved about within his thankfully-not-too-thick-fur and made him scratch himself a lot. So, one more mug of water, and he jumped up to the window, locking his claws on the sill, panting. The window, I'm glad to say, has slats of glass all through, thank goodness. Especially as this is the first floor bathroom I'm talking about. He hung there determinedly till I pulled him away. Another splash of water, and he jumped onto the door - which has sort of panel-ly ridges - and hung from there. This particular ridge was around chest-height to me. From there, he climbed to hang from the door handle by both hands/forelegs, and this was on the other side of the door to the point he was dangling from. I was reminded of special effects from films where people are seen to fly as for a split second during the transfer, he didn't have any of himself supported by anything. It was also all very noisy, because he was screaming continually of threat/s to his life and limb, and I was laughing too hard to keep it silent. Anyway, I pulled him back and next he was running and slithering around the bathroom while I sat on the floor and laughed helplessly. And then, he noticed a shelf, built in, around head-height to me, and holding the cleaning thingies. And jumped. And reached it. I stopped laughing and stared, amazed. And thought that if there was a 'Catolympics', Paolo (that's his name) would have been a sure shot first in the standing high-jump and possibly even pole-vault categories. Anyways, before he could claw further up and start tumbling and/or puncturing the cleaning bottles and things, I pulled him off and decided to hold him close all the while for the rest of the bath. He did bare his claws a couple of times after that, but the remaining part of the bath went without incident. Much, that is. Except the point where he nearly started licking the soap off. It was fun. I was laughing all day afterwards. Btw, Ireland won the match yesterday. That was lovely :) :) :) I'm having potato crisps now. I might not feel like more potatoes later, though ... ... |
3/7/11 06:16 am - Things in my mind ......
Google is really, really all kinds of wonderful in many ways, and the translation system is totally awesome - for my particular needs ... ... but, ... whenever I type in something to search for, it comes up with all kinds of suggestions by itself, and if I'm careless in clicking, something in the subcategory of my search begins to happen. This wasn't bothering me till yesterday - much, that is, except the occasional swearing on my part - ... ... but then, there is this person I'm googling by full name (let's say 'X Y'), and I google him frequently, and suddenly yesterday I see - for the first time - an option which is 'X Y dead' as number 3 ... and this being not actually the case, I ... Dammit, that just hurt ! Why on Earth doesn't google just suggest the correct spellings while something is being typed for a search rather than suggest options like ... like that !? Btw, one out of two ain't bad :D *Evil Cackle* And it's the one I wanted more if it had/has to be a case of 50% of what I wanted :D :D I'm developing a really serious soft spot for Eric Bana. I actually watched ST2009 the other day because of him :D (I'd resisted watching it till before that because I couldn't acclimatise my mind to watching completely different people playing the characters I grew up watching). I loved his 'Anchor' in 'Finding Nemo' too. He really does a great caricature of the Australian accent there :D :D And of course, I find him devastatingly lovely to watch. Somewhat disturbingly lovely ... er ... I'm reading f-pages today. After more than a fortnight. I was actually suffering from withdrawal :D albeit a little bit, but still, withdrawal. I have just started reading them, and will try my best to comment as much as I can. I love you all, a lot, and I hope you are all well, and I hope everything with you gets better and better :) :) 'K, going off from here to read f-pages now :) Will check on remaining comments as soon as possible. ... |

1/9/11 04:43 am - I want to scratch my eyes out now...
I was looking up the prospective 'Ice Age 4' film by searching through google. I do like the three that have been released so far, even the third one, which I found to be slightly odd in sort of parodying Moby Dick in one little part. But mummy dinosaur saved that film for me. I really like her :) 'nyways, getting back to the one I was looking up - well, I landed up on a little news snippet which really put me off somewhat. I mean, if it is going to start off with the main characters as still life :D then I think I'll stay away form it. But, then came the comments to this piece of news. I don't want to detail them, because I ran away after a very, very quick glance. But if anyone wants to read them and join me in my horror, please go and have a look. (/absolutely need to read correctly written English Now !) There really should be a way to stop really weird people from being on the 'net *Sigh* ... |

12/30/10 08:13 am - *Thoughts* and ......
Gary Kirsten, luv, Would you kick Veeru's and Sachin's asses for me, hard ? With a solid boot on, of course. I never thought I'd ever say this XD But yes, Well Done, Sreesanth !!! It is the right thing to do when you give to the deserving :D It was early this decade I realised that I had, till then, had to look at (and learn about) the world outside my culture through the eyes of uncultured, ill-literate lying thieves, confidence tricksters, frauds, robbers and even those that were entirely criminal in every possible sense of the word. I will not be reduced to doing that again :D Consequently, apologies for my well-informed viewpoint/s should never be expected. And oh yes, I will go a long way for two (sets/not of) things - mine, and me. So yes, anyone who attacks/has ever attacked what I consider mine (which includes people I consider friends) - RL or 'net - should be very, very careful for the rest of my lifespan. I am trying to choose a picture for wishing a Happy New Year. Oh, btw, anyone who can guess where the picture I used for my 'Christmas Wish' was taken gets 100 points. Umm ... I'll make it 1000 :D Go on, guess. ... |

'Tower of gifts' and 'box of chocolates' from lj user winterwater. 12/6/10 05:31 am - 'The Greater The Number Of Words, The Less Their Significance' |
11/21/10 05:28 am - Pimping :)adventdrabbles This is a comm for the holiday season, starting Dec1 and running to Dec25 (or 31st if you wish). The idea is to write one drabble for every day. A drabble is defined as a story of 100wds, but we don't mind if you don't keep to exactly 100 :). You can make it a drabble series or have different unconnected drabbles for each day, or a mixture of both, totally up to you. Drabbles do not have to be Christmas related, but seasonal might be nice, whether it be snow (for those of us in the north) or lounging on a beach as far away from snow as physically possible (from the post by beren-writes here) ... ========= And now, for my update for today : HBO showed 'A Single Man' some time back. It was beautiful. It Is beautiful. It is one of the best films I have ever seen. There's something so natural and gentle and elegant about the way Firth portrays characters - it is entirely hypnotic. And the music was totally lovely. All in all, one of those rare few films I really love watching. I would love to watch it again, but not now. Life is a bit of a bother at the moment. And finally - I don't like idiots. I dislike pompous idiots even more. I especially dislike it when someone says something that proves that said speaker doesn't know shit about the matter and then when referred to real expertise, turns around and poses as an expert. As I said, idiots. And I don't like associating with idiots. 'm not in a mood to accommodate idiots. UGH ! ... ETA - I can't update ij. It's eff-D up ! So, no updates there till it straightens out. |

11/4/10 07:22 am - About me and a rec...
Good Lord, guess where I found a quite young Jude Law ! In Jeremy Brett's 'Shoscombe Old Place'. No wonder he got back on to the Sherlock Holmes bandwagon :) I hated that film, btw. Absolutely. Anyone other than Brett as Holmes makes me feel completely confused and icky. Oh well. And I am now applying for a scholar's programme anyone in my position would give an eye and an arm for, and have a snowflake's chance in hell of getting through, but I'll finish the application anyway - following which I will get back to being depressed because I don't have the remotest chance of getting through. I seriously, seriously need to get rid of some comms in lj I no longer want to be associated with. But I have no time to give to doing that nowadays. I can't believe that's actually true. Btw, reccing this lovely post at DW. Go read it, everyone. ... |

10/4/10 03:27 am - I am re-learning so much...
It is being a difficult time. Mentally, for me, I mean. Me - am fine. Mine - all fine. Except for the normal everyday little contretemps that occur to everyone. But I am having to discard almost everything I have been told since I have seen for myself how entirely wrong all that was. Socially, that is. I don't particularly want to set out all that I have seen and learnt by myself and which has made me discard most conceptions I was taught since being born ... But it's a big shock all over. Much too big. It's taking a good deal of time to sink in. Not good. Not good at all. However, I do feel all that had hardened me up a bit ... And yet, even after all this, I am still capable of worrying sleeplessly for someone I don't know personally (but know a good deal about) who behaved pretty badly (but not criminally) and then, getting caught out, tried suicide. And, I very much fear he will try it again. Still too much of a softie, am I ? In other news, I have a month old kitten I am doting on. He was born on the 30th of August :) :) :) ... |
