The first specialness of the open-comments era arrives at last, and it's a goober of the religious variety. And it condemns writers! Whee!
OK, on to the substance. And a big announcement.
Yours truly will soon be added to this page. Yep, Skean Dubh, one of the best Celtic bands in Colorado, invited me out of the blue to be a part of their wonderful musical tradition, and I'd be an idiot to refuse. I'll be playing at open session at their Beltane next Saturday, and it looks like I'll be playing at the Sterling Celtic Festival June 4. That is, if they don't decide I'm wretched at practice today and tell me to get the hell out. Hee! Seriously, NERVOUS over here, because these guys are damned good.
I also got a new drum. Not a bodhran, a djembe, and he is beautiful and even though I went with a Fiberskin head he sounds great.
I didn't win the Metro State writing contest after all, there was a mix-up with the scoring. BUT! Once the scores were retabulated, I won second place in fiction and third place in nonfiction, which is a better distribution by far since it means I placed in both categories I entered. I'm putting out a chapbook since a bunch of people have requested the works (either to read them 'cause they're good, or to cut them down because their own pieces didn't win). It includes some other stories that may or may not be worth reading. As soon as I get my only digital copies back AHEM SNAPPLE I can get that done. It's free if I can hand it to you, $5.00 including shipping if I can't. But honestly, it's only worth buying if you're unsettled just reading it on the website.
Then apparently I got published a couple of times here at Metrosphere, like, hello, I submitted several months ago and never heard a word as to what they were accepting, so all the stuff that I could have been submitting to other venues has just sat there waiting to see if first rights are available or not. But that's how the fiction business goes, I guess.
