Dignity!cat was really happy and relaxed that day, which you can tell by the complete lack of 'I glare at you and/or your camera' pictures )

ETA: 'Banning skinny models' is a somewhat bold statement for a magazine that contains like two-thirds advertising space for which the policy change does not apply. But whatever.

ETA: Zenphoto should work now again.

Not lot of new pictures, not a lot of things to tell. My cat hair allergy is getting worse. That worries me.

I watched The Fox & the Child today. Wasn't very good, but it had beautiful pictures of snowy landscape and animals, so it wasn't boring or annoying. Scary in parts, though.

Okay, this is important: You really should watch Tricks when you have an opportunity. Preferably twice. I just watched it again, and I loved it the first time, but I only understood why I loved it so much the second time.

My favorite movie for 2009. And no, I'm not overhasty in making that claim.

D!cat, herons, scenery )

This is fun, I think: Jigsaw Deluxe. If playing jigsaw under time restraint kills you, there's a relaxed mode for you. But they are fairly easy to solve even then. You don't have to go for 8x10 with the freakily shaped pieces, you know. *rubs eyes*

03:57 pm - Lizard time!
I visited the castle again. I mean, actually I went there to sit in the sun and finish "If not now, when" and I still haven't found the promised heart-warming optimism inside and it was over far too early, but it's a really awesome book anyway. Back to Sookie Stackhouse now.

But I made pictures of tiny sunbathing lizards too, which is a bit easier now that it's cooler and they are a little bit slower in every respect.
Lots and lots of lizard pictures )

Today's random cat is tropical-clinic!cat again )

I'm taking a break in reading Sookie Stackhouse novels. In the meantime, I'm reading Primo Levi's 'If not now, when?', a story about a Jewish watchmaker gone partisan in occupied Poland. I've read half of it and it is absorbing. Though so far I didn't encounter much of the hope and optimism it instilled in the reviewers they quote on the back. But then, there are a lot of pages left yet.

And yet another random encounter cat. So pretty. )
I heard a passing by old lady say to her companion old lady that only girl cats can have a color mix like that. Is that true?

I'd like some of that that if they find a way to get around the "injected in eyes" parts and if they find a way to make it it work only temporarily. Like, for a few hours. :D

And yes, I know, Onion, but American voices is about real things. I swear I saw an article somewhere.

No creatures, just boring scenery )

I finished Club Dead today, the third Charlaine Harris book. Still great fun. I haven't seen True Blood yet. So, In my head Bill looks like Louis (from Interview with the Vampire, I blame the sideburns), Eric looks like Haldir, only smaller and smarter perhaps, Pam looks like Nell Campbell, Sam like Monk from Streets of New York and Sookie like Lola from Lola runs, which is a bit weird because I know Anna Paquin plays her and I love her to bits. I guess Sookie is just such a 'surrounds herself with trouble magnets and keeps solving their problems even though she's not quite sure what she's doing' character that she became Lola in my head anyway.

I bet this will change when I actually watch True Blood, which is pretty much why I'm writing it down.

OMG help! There are actual mushrooms growing in Helena's flower pot! The earth was dry, but I only noticed when I was watering her. Though it is possible that she's standing in a pool of water on the ground and only the top layer of earth is dry. I don't know because the pot is kinda stuck in the cachepot since I gave her new earth in April and I was reluctant to try to get it loose before she's enrooted. I guess I need to pry it loose and have a look now.

But what about the mushrooms? Is this bad? Is this something I did? Maybe it's the new earth? I gave her fertilizer sticks for the first time, too.

Is this bad? I mean, mushrooms in the forest aren't bad unless they grow on the trees either, right? But maybe they are messing with her roots? I'm worried.

Please advise me if you have any gardening lore. Is this my fault? Is this harmless? Do I need to do something?

P.S.: Helena is a Dragon Tree, if that helps.

Pictures of all sorts of pond scum. I think some are nice. )

More box cat. Mostly because it's hard to catch her outside the new favorite cardboard box, but also because of cuteness. Plus picked up People!Cat. )

D. made them, but with my camera, so they're more mine than hers in my book.

I think I covered 34 Km with the bike today. The farthest I went before was 22 Km. I feel like I'm doing something wrong in not doing anything sightseeing-like on arrival, instead of just going back. But then I'm not planning where I'm going so I don't have much of an idea of what there is to see. And besides I'm still not too fond of other people.
Oh well, I'm sight-seeing on the way all the time, and I'm making my stops to sit in nice places and read and make pictures and listen to music and stuff.

Oh, do I need to translate that into miles? That's 21,1 miles and 13, 7 miles respectively.
Actually it was too hot for heroics like that and I started feeling a little weird on the way back, but I paused in an air-conditioned Subways and that helped.

I just watched Sztuczki - Tricks - it was lovely! [Oh, you can turn off the music on the site with the little blue button with the note on it. It took me a while o figure that out]

If you have an opportunity to watch Tricks, you should. It's funny and weird and clever and doesn't take itself too serious. It's a story about a little boy who tries to make things happen to return his missing father to the family. Well, and it is also the story of the bossy, overwhelmed older sister who struggles to run the family because no one else can. I realized I really have a weak spot for this kind of character [see also: Nani Pelekai and Katara and I bet there's a lot more of them].

Dignity!Cat has a new favorite box )
