This is where the playlist for my fanfic, "Cause Some Trouble", can be found. When each new chapter comes along, the playlist will be posted right here. Warning for fic spoilers! The newest additions will be posted first, so be wary when scrolling down if you're a new reader.

Updated: 9/27/10
UPDATE 10/11/10: Playlist links are currently defunct. I had to remove the videos from Youtube. One of them got busted for copyright violation, and my account would get deleted if they busted another one.

What's new, JF? May. 9th, 2013 @ 09:03 pm
Wow, I don't come here as often as I used to. Sad.

So what's new, guys? Is anyone still here or has everyone migrated to Tumblr and the like?

I've been in Florida for the past year and a half, learning Zumba and being mistreated by an elderly relative. Luckily, the latter is ending next week. The former will continue FOREEEEVERRRRR (or until my knees give out, hahaaaaaa).

Also, have y'all heard of this iOS game called Cause of Death? It's literally the best thing ever. It's only available on iOS devices, currently (though IDK why, it's from EA and you'd think they would want all the extra $$$ they'd rake in if it was available on Android and the like). I have a lengthy meta post worked up about why this game is the best ever. Needs editing before I post it, but then you shall see. You shall SEEEEEE! And then all y'all with iOS thingies will be rushing to snag it from the apps store.

So... how many of you saw Jurassic Park in 3D? I did! In IMAX 3D, no less. It was the greatest thing I have ever watched, srsly.

Anyway... yeah. It's good to be back, JF!
Where am I? D:: pensive

Art imitating life, or some such thing Mar. 14th, 2013 @ 01:14 am
So like, way back in Chapter Four or Five of CST, I had Kuei and Zafirah and Basam go sandsurfing out in the desert. And just now via Tumblr, I find out that sandboarding is an actual thing people do??

Also: tonight, I took a Zumba class with BETO FRAKKING PEREZ, the creator of Zumba Fitness! He hugged me! ZOMG.

"Ar-go f*ck yourself!" Oct. 19th, 2012 @ 11:35 pm
So I just got back from seeing Argo and it was an amazing movie, totally lived up to the hype, etc etc. But let's think about what really matters here. Imagine being the person who wrote the screenplay that the CIA used IRL. You're all "OMG yay my precious screenplay is finally getting its time in the spotlight! My dream has come true~~~" and then, shortly later, the project falls through. And then years later, you find out that THE C-I-FREAKING-A was using your screenplay to smuggle stranded diplomats out of Iran in the middle of a hostage crisis.

Time for some nostalgia! Sep. 16th, 2012 @ 03:18 pm
So recently, due to an event which will get its own JF writeup in the very near future, I've suddenly felt compelled to revisit my two first fandoms-- Invader ZIM and The Phantom of the Opera. And to kick off this high-school/early college nostalgia trip, I decided to rewatch all of ZIM, including a couple of episodes that I'd originally missed due to Nickelodeon's weird scheduling and air dates near the end of the show's run.

For those of you who missed it, ZIM was a very.... very strange show created by Jhonen Vasquez, who is kind of like Tim Burton's evil twin brother. They have a similarly dark aesthetic, but I think Vasquez takes it further than Burton usually does. Most of Burton's movies, while dark and creepy, are still family friendly. ZIM, though.... well, I'm amazed Nickelodeon aired it at all, to be honest. Let's not even get into Vasquez's comic book series.

Today I'm going to watch the pilot episode. I haven't seen this show since at least my freshman year of college, let's do this!

Fun With Fishes Sep. 1st, 2012 @ 02:41 pm
So this isn't a fanfic update, as it ought to be, but rather a story of something very unusual that happened at the beach yesterday.

I was hanging out in the shallows and I noticed a school of tiny silver fish swimming nearby. I squatted down to try and get them to swim over to me, but they didn't-- all except for one. I looked down and saw a darker-colored fish swimming in front of my navel. I put my hand down to see if I could bring it up closer, to get a better look at it, but it disappeared. I thought it had gone, but then it appeared again and I realized it had gone behind me. I stood up and it stayed right next to me, swimming next to my legs. Sometimes it would dart around behind me or between my legs, but it never swam away. If I moved, it moved with me. It must've stayed there for aout 20 minutes, and it probably would have stuck around longer if I hadn't needed to leave.

I have no idea why it was doing that, but I've never seen anything like it before. Farewell, tiny fish, I hope you have a good life!

WELL WELL WELL! May. 16th, 2012 @ 10:05 pm
I just watched the first episode of TRON: Uprising and I have to say, Disney has an interesting show on their hands!

Cut for one minor spoiler )

In other news, the Zumba fun continues in full force! I went to another class tonight with a different instructor-- new-ish guy who's only been teaching for a year, but he's great. And I might have a ridiculous crush on him or something WHAT WHO SAID THAT LIES AND SLANDER. Anyway, I'd mentioned to him in a Facebook message that I was working on some new Zumba choreography and he suggested I demonstrate it for him during class this week. So before class he put on the song that I'm using and I started my routine, and then after a few second he jumped in with me and was dancing to my choreo with me. HOW ABOUT YES.

My Pokeymans, let me blog you them Mar. 29th, 2012 @ 02:52 pm
Okay so, back when I was a wee little tween, the Gameboy Color came out and I persuaded my parents to get me one. And the first game I got was Pokemon Red. I loved that game but I could never figure out how to beat it. And last weekend, I discovered a website where I could play the old Pokemon games online. I think you can see where this is going. And since my JF has been pretty inactive lately, I figured I'd put this here blog to good use while reliving my middle school days.

So here we go! This is...

KOOOOOOOOORRRAAAAAA Mar. 24th, 2012 @ 11:11 pm
So if you didn't hear, the first two episodes of Legend of Korra have been airing this weekend on Korra Nation. And I just finished watching them. Reaction?

FLAWLESS PERFECTION. More coherent thoughts to come later. For now, all I have is uncontrollable flailing.

Life is pretty damn good right now Mar. 17th, 2012 @ 07:54 pm
Yes, today was pretty much a flawless victory all around. I did TWO Zumba masterclasses. That's two hour-and-a-half classes, although the second was closer to two hours long, so I was basically dancing all day long.

The Sporking: Return of the Spork Mar. 11th, 2012 @ 10:15 am
So! It's been a long time since I tore apart a bad movie on this journal, but now I am dusting off the old spork to take apart a true horror show of a rom-com called "The Proposal". See, living here with my grandmother for the time being, I basically have to watch whatever she wants to watch. And what she watches are romantic comedies. Lots of them. I have problems with most rom-coms; I don't have a problem with stories that are focused entirely on romance or relationships, that I have no problem with. But in general, rom-coms are sexist, badly written, cliched garbage loaded with stereotypes. There's one or two I enjoy, but most of them are crap.

This movie... oh ye gods. Let's dive in, shall we?

Dancin' my ass off Feb. 6th, 2012 @ 01:26 pm
Oh man, today's Zumba class was amaaaazing. Ailton, our instructor, was like extra crazycakes today, I don't even know, and I was ON FIRE, srsly, I was so on my game today. And towards the end of the class, Ailton was like, "Okay, last one!" And whenever he says "last one" or "one more", what he actually means is, "Three more, plus cool-down LOLOLZ".

AND ALSOOOO WE DID THIS SONG. And that was super exciting because "Caipirinha" is the Zumba song. It was the official song of the 2010 Zumba Instructor Convention. So getting to dance to it in class, OMG DYING I JUST CANNOT I've been wanting to do that song in class for about two months. Look, look at this, here is a video of Ailton and a bunch of other amazing people demonstrating the Caipirinha choreography back when the song was brand spankin' new. (Haha, I almost didn't even see him in that one. I was like, "Wait, where the hell is he??" He's in the front left; I didn't recognize him at first because a) his hair was longer when this video was made, and b) he's wearing long sleeves. He never wears long sleeves in our class!) Here he is with some random loser (LOL kidding, kidding, Fabio Barros is frakking epic) co-teaching the song in a masterclass.

AND THAT'S THE SONG WE DID IN CLASS TODAY ASNFDNVKBV/cskvlw wow.

ZUMBAAAAaaaaaa Jan. 30th, 2012 @ 11:35 am
So yeah I haven't posted much lately because my life has been kind of complicated lately, so y'all haven't really heard much about my Zumba adventures. I posted about it last month when I was wibbling over my not-so-secret-anymore secret desire to become a Zumba instructor. Which, by the way, no longer conflicted about that. Kick reason to the curb and do the impossible, row row fight da powah etc, LET'S DO THIS I am totally getting certified as a Zumba instructor. Not sure when, but it is so happening. I've already choreographed my first routine, even (keep an eye out for a video of that coming soonish).

But yes, I feel like rambling about Zumba this morning, because today was a big day in class. Because

today

I was dancing

AT THE FRONT OF THE CLASS

RIGHT UP IN THE FRONT ROW

JUST BEHIND AND TO THE RIGHT OF OUR INSTRUCTOR/FEARLESS LEADER, AILTON ANDRADE

DBSF;ejv ewDSHJFGDj;vbd OMG

Because when the class started there were only like five people there including me, and there was only one other regular there, so the other three were all too intimidated to dance in the front row, so I stepped up and went to the front. Then when other people started arriving late I was like, "Pfffft fuck dat I am not giving up my spot, hell no" so I stayed at the front THE ENTIRE HOUR and it was amazing.
