Today's FoxTrot is the latest in a continuing storyline about Roger visiting the North Pole on the Polar Express after drinking bad eggnog.
The latest strip refers to the fact that it's too pricey for Santa to employ elves, so he's had to outsource the jobs to the Chinese. ![[info]](http://www.journalfen.net/img/userinfo.gif) weekoldsushi takes offense as s/he is Chinese.
Wank ensues. There are arguments about the Chinese economy, and xellchiri manages to work in a Homestar Runner reference in there.
It doesn't take long before Hitler shows up, andGodwin's Law Godwin's Law </a>is invoked.
And the 'best comment award' goes to this post.
But wait, there's more on page 2! littlemiss_pms brings up racism, and is shocked, SHOCKED by the whole thing. And mrs_peabody ties it all together by bringing in some election wank.

So I'm browsing my email the other day, and I discover ( this )
Forget the whole HP/Buffy crossover idea. It's more the fact that the author has decided to make some of her Mary Sues characters into SLASH FANS. In the HP universe. And they get Willow to fix their computer so they can READ MORE SLASH. *sporksporkspork*
The sad thing is, she's not that bad a writer. It's just the freakish subject matter that makes me stabby...
ETA: I take it back. She is that bad a writer. But she could probably improve with a really good beta and a lot of practice (and perhaps some more likely universes to play in...)

The 4th Wall Law: Whenever an author drags in RL concepts (e.g. slash) that patently do not belong in the universe being written about, even if the story in question is an AU, that author will be forced to bang their head into a glass wall repeatedly until the concept of the 4th wall sinks in.

I get the FoxTrot feed on my LJ, and this morning, this comic was posted. I shrugged as I'm not much for mat on my best days, and 7:30 this morning certainly wasn't one of those. But anyway, it shortly descends into wankiness about the math.
There is a Heinlein quote, and realadrian decides to throw their mathematical weight around here. Accusations of illogical behaviour, stupidity, and inaccurate mathematics abound.
It has been going on all afternoon, and promises to keep growing (exponentially perhaps...*g*).
