Okay, so the [info]otw_onlinecon is just about wrapping up now and all the challenges and games are still ongoing...at least for a little while longer! In other words, you should go play! The most recent one is Stories EXTREME (which already has some wonderfully crack-headed entries)

The alternate current challenge is "Bad Manips (and the Stories that Love Them Anyway)." Now...the instructions say this doesn't have to be a bad manip; it can also be a good manip to go along with a cracky premise, so if any of you want to do an illustration for "The Heart of the Sea" (which is probably the first - and only - Snape/Lupin MerPreg in existence), I would accept it with open fins arms. *g*

Back to the [info]otw_onlinecon, though...amongst the still-ongoing challenges is ICONS! (requesting and gifting) (Note: all the action is taking place on the LJ comm at the moment, but there are mirror onlinecon communities over on IJ and JF.

1:42 pm - OTW News, plus the new t.v. season.
OTW, baby! The Organization for Transformative Works is starting to gather steam.ad the first of the big informational posts which includes the current list of committee members on LJ's [info]otw_news site, or on one of its mirrors (I'm responsible for the GreatestJournal mirror, which you can - and should! - add to your GJ reading list, if you haven't done so already.)

In other news: Bionic Woman, mostly questions )

Ugly Betty, definitely with spoilers! )

Spoilers for Reaper )

Other Shows )

And that (along with my previous post on LJ and IJ) is about it for the new season's t.v. viewing except to say:

Tonight is SGA...yay!
Next week is SPN...yay!

11:10 am - Snapenews Information
Hi! The editorial staff of [info]snapenews has set up shop now at all four of the main journaling sites (IJ, GJ, JF, and LJ of course). We haven't yet decided if we're going to mirror at all of them, but for the moment, if you are a Snape-centric artist or author or essayist or icon maker - or if you know of a Snape-centric community that we should know about, please let us know in a comment here.

Pleae check out the friends list of our watcher journal ([info]snape_reporter) and let us know if:

1. You should be added to that list because much of your content is focused on Snape
2. You've pretty much abandoned HP and should be taken off that list
3. Your main posting journal is no longer going to be on Livejournal (and if that's the case, pleae let us know where it's going to be)

Thanks!

7:46 pm - A Rec (...and LJ wreckage)
First...a rec! The Years That Walk Between (Snape/Draco, Draco Harry) - an excellent post-DH story by [info]femmequixotic

***

  • On not locking LJ posts by [info]penknife (note: I'm not locking my posts - fic or otherwise - either)

  • a sadly believable parody of the LJ admins answering our questions by [info]pushdragon (over on greatestjournal)

  • An Open Letter To LiveJournal and Six Apart from [info]bubble_blunder. Will it have any impact? Debatable. But I signed it, nonetheless.

  • First seen in [info]amireal's journal: The tech gossip report about Brad leaving LJ/6A and moving on to Google, which most of you have seen (...and the very mature response from LJ's vice president, which...okay, no matter to whom it's directed, it's probably not the best post he could have made.)

    ***

"Well I [definitely won't] allow child pr0n, but if someone wants to write a story about bumbledor giving it to harry potter up the arse, then that's their choice." ([info]squeaky19, site owner of insanejournal, here)

    12:08 pm - Birthday roundup...
I'm home (Prophecy reports to follow sometime later this week)

My birthday (yesterday) was lovely. [info]amelia_eve, [info]cordelia_v, and [info]leni_jess took me out for a birthday breakfast. Gifts were sent to me from [info]spiderine, [info]labellerose, and [info]furiosity. And fic was waiting for me on my various f'lists:

  • A Snape/Minerva ficlet from [info]titti

  • A Snape/Kingsley story from [info]meri_oddities

  • A Filch and DH-Spoilery-Character drabble from [info]slashpine

Oh, also? insanejournal and greatestjournal sent me happy birthday greetings. LJ did not. Even in the world of auto-mailings, LJ fails.

  • "Home is the Sailor" (Snape/Luna. 7140 words. Summary: "In his effort to prepare for any eventuality, Snape finds an almost perfect hideaway. However, he soon discovers that he's not alone. " Written for Reversathon.)

  • "What Yet Remains" (Snape/Hermione. 7650 words. Summary: "As memories of the War start to fade, a relationship begins to develop between Hermione and Severus. However, it may not be wise to put all memories of the War aside." Written as a pinch hit for the sshg_exchange.)

  • "The Choices We Make" (Snape/Lupin. 700 words. Summary: "The Headmaster was always right." Written for the Snupin Darkfic Fest, with the prompt "If I had to choose between betraying my country and betraying my friend, I hope I should have the guts to betray my country.' - E.M. Forster)

  • "A Cunning Plan" (Snape/Harry. 3300 words. Summary: "When the War finally ends, Severus Snape finds himself in the peculiar position of being too popular. Begrudgingly, Severus accepts that Harry Potter might just have a solution to his problem." Written for the eZine Slytherin Kiss.)

  • "Incentive Plan" (Snape/Harry. 2410 words. Summary: "With lessons like this, Harry will almost certainly never learn Occlumency. However, the value of education isn't only in its results." Written for Daily Deviant's June 2007 Challenge.)

  • "Once Upon a Time" (Snape/Lupin. 700 words. A...fairy tale. Written as a gift for Stasia.)

6:37 am - FIC (HP): "Home is the Sailor" (Snape/Luna) - NoSpoilers
    From Reversathon 2007

Title: Home Is the Sailor (here if you want to read it in situ or click below to read it here on my journal)
Author: Belinda Purewimple (aka, Beth H - [info]bethbethbeth)
Pairing: Severus Snape/Luna Lovegood (or rather, pre-Snuna)
    Rating: PG-13
    Word Count: ~7140
Summary: In his effort to prepare for any eventuality, Snape finds an almost perfect hideaway. However, he soon discovers that he's not alone.

It was a singularly beautiful day in late June when Luna - still too young by almost half a year to have an Apparition license - asked her father to take her back to Hogwarts. )

    Happy Mother's Day.

In honor of the occasion, I have a (totally unrelated) little dueSouth story (F/K, mostly a PWP) that you can read here.

Also, if you've been spending all your waking moments wondering what the *real* motto of the RCMP is, well...this should clear up any confusion you might have.

    7:25 pm - Semi-Random Notes
(Note: If you're reading my lj, too, the only new thing you'll find over here is 'Gosh, AuK, it looks like those pesky Devils are through to the next round." *g*)

First on the agenda, I've posted a little Due South story to [info]ds_flashfiction for the "Hourglass Challenge." Of course, when I say "little," I mean 50 percent longer than it was supposed to be, but luckily for me the word limit rules seem to be interpreted very loosely over there.

    Next? X2, of course )

I don't think it'll spoil anyone to hear that I went out and bought ::mumblemumblemumble:: dollars worth of comics (X-Men, Batman, Lucifer) when the movie ended. I'm blaming Becky. She had nothing to do with it, but I'm blaming her anyway.

And speaking of "Access Denied": is it just me, or have some of the recent discussions about artists' ownership/control of their own creative output been giving anybody else flashbacks to the days when they were reading The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged over and over again? Or...hmm...maybe nobody else ever read those books over and over again in the dim and distant past.

6:19 am - Maybe it's time to start mirroring my LJ entries here, eh?
Am I the last person on earth to notice that Midnight Blue's "Mirror of Maybe" has apparently been kicked off ff.net? Or yanked off ff.net. Or something. In any case, it's no longer there: just a big ol' "Story Not Found" notice where it used to be.

However, the moderators of the MoM yahoogroup (which a minimum of 2,764 people knew about before I did) just uploaded a new file. It's an out-of-sequence chapter (i.e., part 2 of chapter 18 has yet to appear), but, you know, at least it's something.

And while we're on the subject of "did everybody know about this but me?" - I found a wonderful site on the MoM group links page: True Porn Clerk Stories, which has the online journal entries of a clerk at a video store from February 28, 2002 to November 26, 2002. Very smart, very entertaining, and...well...a lot about porn.

In other news, when my roomie returned from Vegas this week, she came bearing gifts. One of the gifts was...a bottle of water. But not just *any* water. No, this was a bottle of water from "Star Trek: the Experience" (which she visited only so she could find souvenirs for me). And the water? Bottled in Vulcan, Canada.

Yes, I am easily amused, thank you for asking.

10:03 pm - Because there can never be too many people playing...
Since my friends lists on LJ and Journalfen are *just* different enough, it struck me that I should post a link here to my April Fool's All-Fandom Cinema Revival AU-Premise Challenge.

The (mostly nonexistent) rules for the challenge can be found here (although I've since added a sub-category for "it's already written, so you can just shut up, dammit!" stories).

If you want to add an AU premise to the list or a manip or a link to an already existing story, please do. The more, the merrier!

    Well, there might!
