Vid insta-rec, x2. upload post is at barkley but the two vids are by a whole mess of people, and they're AWESOME. Canadian Actor Bingo is, well, just what it sounds like. Ever wondered why all the guest stars in SG1 looks sort of familiar? Turns out you've probably seen them in, like, eight other shows. Like Grace Park, who's in BSG, and SG1, and Dark Angel, AND Jake 2.0. Or Kandyse McClure, who's ALSO in BSG, Dark Angel, and Jake 2.0.

Interesting things you can find out from IMDBing stuff: Dark Angel never credited an actor they didn't use in at least two episodes. I don't know if that has something to do with the sequential plot, or if they just liked familiar faces, but I think it's cool. Also, Kandyse McClure used to get credited as Candice, which: oh my god, so much nicer, CHANGE IT BACK.

The other one is vidded to a dance mix of the Boulevard of Broken Songs mash-up (which, wow, is some provenance: a vid to a mix of a song made up of other songs.) It's SG1, SPN, Firefly, and Farscape (which I don't know at all, but it's all good). The vidder describes it as "They are very hot men who walk alone. Dance, angsty hot men, dance!" This is all ye need to know.

This icon is art of Bic Runga, used on the poster for her BIRDS album tour. It's like a really bad visual pun. Birds, and heads... aw, fuhgeddaboudit.

It's obviously no secret that I am a big slash fan, and I'm also lucky in that I am very flexible and also normally really like the pairing that a significant proportion of the fandom latches onto - like John/Rodney, or Sam/Dean, or Bruno/Boots. So SG-1 is really kicking my ass, because not only am I apparently a big Sam/Jack fan - what is this thing called het? - but Daniel/Jack... just kind of bores me. I feel like I've read everything there is to read about the pairing already, because the dynamic is so similar to half a dozen other slash pairings I've read.

*glum sigh* Life hard. Rec me some Daniel/Jack and try to convert me, because otherwise I'll go nuts. (Other pairings would be a-OK also!)

God, I have A+ friends. I sent out an SOS recently to my best friend saying, basically: help, I'm watching Stargate: SG1 and the quality is uneven! Send episode and season recs! I like Sam, Jack, Daniel and Vala! And she wrote me back with, like, her favourites, and specific character recs, and all that jazz from all ten freakin' seasons of SG1. ♥ I mean, "rec me!" is one thing for a two- or even a five-season show, but ten? Yeah.

So, uh, speaking of: rec me your favourite SG1 episode. I'm kind of floating through the seasons right now picking ones I'm recced and ones I recognise references to in fic, but I just don't have the marathoning urge for this show - which is v weird for me, because normally I am the person who sits down with DVDs of a show, or hooks themselves up with an ep dl community, and blasts my way through the show in. Well. It depends, really. I did Buffy over about six months with sixth_light, I did Angel by myself watching three or four episodes a night and that took me most of a summer, I did Gilmore Girls... really embarassingly fast, like, a season a week, maybe more quickly. And that's from start to finish, you know, premiere to finale. And I have been known to go a little overboard, like, I think with Supernatural, I watched the whole first season in about two days and didn't sleep much. So it's weird for me to come to an S7 episode and to be like, OK, I recognise Jonas, and I'm way spoiled for Daniel's Ascension/Descension (er, should I cut that? Naw.), and I know a bit about the Asgard from SGA, but who's the dude in the black cloak? And who's Baal? And who the heck are the Tauri, or Tau'ri, or whatever?

I did eventually figure this last bit out, and may I just say: that's totally non-intuitive, who picked that?

Anyway, the point is, there is no point but the gazing at the navel. SG1! Yes!

Icon talk: this is the TUI icon I always wanted to have. Tui is a brand of beer here, like, really cheap crappy beer. The Budweiser equivalent, I guess. I hate beer, which makes the whole thing a kind of bitter irony (pun not intended.) The best thing about it is their ad campaign, which consisted for a long time of a slogan, followed by "Yeah, right." Like, in our rugby-loving nation: "It's only a game." "Yeah, right." Or, um... I can never think of the good ones, but you guys all have brains, so. I have a feeling it will become my "You are full of shit!" icon, although my keywords for it are actually "ad campaign."

point of interest: there are four people interested in YW on JF. nobody is interested in Tom/Carl. I can see this is going to be a new experience for me.

I have all-new icons. I want to show them all off. This is my default icon, and it is the first time I have had an icon of a tui for about... three, four years? Something like that. I like it. Also, I like JF moods, they strike me as hysterical.
