Oh, ffs!

So it seems anyone who has any sort of risque content on their LJs could well be suspended. Information is sketchy so far, but here's a breakdown of what I've been able to find. Innocence Jihad has information about recent suspensions and deletions. Ponderosa shares the email she recieved when she was suspended. Things are still as clear as mud in a beer bottle.

I think there's something a lot of the naysayers and don't-carers are forgetting - it's HP now, but HP is huge and has more exposure. So once everyone from HP has moved elsewhere, then the attention will turn to the smaller fandoms/original writers who are, to some extent so far, protected by the eye on HP.

There is a suggestion for mass fannish walkout and an opposing one for mass stick it to the man.

What pisses me off - and I'm not into the Snarry parts of fandom - is that this could very easily be for any sort of artistic creation, fannish or otherwise. I think anyone who writes/creates art has every reason to feel skittish about LJ at this point. I've been backing my shit up left, right and center. There's LJ Book that gives you a nice PDF of your journal with comments, or LJ Archive. LJ Book has the bonus of backing up your journal from most places that use the original Danga Interactive LJ software that Brad created on Open Source. Oh, there's also LJ Sec and a very helpful post this way about transferring journals/backing up/etc.

That being out of the way, I ponder what to do with the rp journals I have over on LJ. Mind you, seems the interest to rp with my pup(s) is wanning, so who the hell knows. Sigh. Headdesk. Sigh. Repeat.

HP Fanzine needing tribbers

FIRST CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS.

BF Press is looking for fic and b/w art submissions for Knocturn Alley, an all Harry Potter adult/slash fanzine. Submission guidelines are as follows:

FIC:

* Any pairing, any rating, must have an adult theme. Slash fic prefered, but adult het fic accepted as well.

* Crossover's accepted.

* No chan. Sorry guys, but that's BF policy.

* Any rating, any content, from pg13 and soft romance to hard NC17 and bdsm. Non-con, incest, hurt/comfort, romance, everything inbetween all acceptable.

* Any length. The longer the better, both for me and for you. Tribbers who write fic of more than 16 pages in length, A4, Times New Roman 11 point, get a free copy. I'd love to give every tribber a freebie, but alas, being a poor university student, I cannot.

* Fic MUST be beta read or at least proof read. Please, please, please make use of your grammar and spell check functions. They are there to help. Listen to the siren song of the grammar and spell check functions. Use the power of these functions. If you're still unsure, Veela Inc has a list of beta readers on their web site, and I can also help out with some beta'ing as well.

ART:

* A4 size largest accepted. Art must be black and white.

* Any pairing, any content for art accepted, though chan not permitted.

* Art must be emailed in jpg or gif format.

DATES:

End of first submission call: 31st October 2004.

If a second submission call is needed, an email will be sent out to those who have tribbed by the 31st October.

OTHER SUNDRIES:

Tribbers agree not to publish their work for one year from the date of publication of the zine. After which time, they can publish their work in other zines, on the net, on mailing lists, etc, to their hearts content.

You must be of legal adult age for your location to contribute to this fanzine. I'm operating on the honour policy here, so please respect that. Thanks.

EMAIL ADDRESS:

For more information, send an email to starkiller [@] thebattlefields.org with the subject "HP ZINE". Thanks.

Starkiller.
