Ignore previous version of this post. I do try very hard not to stir up drama, honestly.
For the record, I screened the only comment that I consider to be truly hurtful, out of all 14,000 comments, the moment I saw it. I also apologize to Maygra and her friends for any hurt they may have received as a result of my meme. I did not know any of the history behind the supernatural meme, and the comment when I read it initially did not strike me as hateful in any way - it struck me as embarrassed. I understand how it was interpreted, though, and I do apologize very sincerely to Maygra.
I also apologize to Esorlehcar for the fact that someone posted one of her filtered posts to the meme.
I meant what I said earlier. This meme will be the last anon meme that I ever do. It is impossible to have an intelligent discussion about the nature of hate. So I am removing myself from the argument. Causing hurt to anyone is the last thing I have ever intended these memes to do, and I have learned the lesson I should have learned six months ago.
ETA, for what it's worth: I was already intending to make the memes private and/or go through and screen out every hurtful thing I could find. I was already planning making some sort of privatization. It was just that this was the last push I needed, along with many private requests from anons on the meme itself, to delete it altogether. Sorry. |

As many of you know I was the one who came forward and provided independent confirmation of the death threats that heidi8 received yesterday which prevented her from being a Guest of Honor at the Phoenix Rising conference.
Heidi was one of the very first people to rec my fanfiction. She was the one who invited me to join Fiction Alley. The very first review for the very first fic I ever posted there was from her. When Warner Brothers came to Fiction Alley and demanded that they delete my fanfic, Love Under Will due to its slash content, Heidi said no, and stood between them and my fic until they backed down. I have been loyal to Fiction Alley and FAP for all these reasons, and because I want to believe the best of people, including Heidi.
I still do, and I still believe that Heidi is capable of following angiej's example and making a full and complete apology, while taking full accountability for herself and her actions - both her past actions and her recent ones.
In the meantime, I am rescinding my confirmation of the death threats that she received. I cannot confirm or deny the existence of death threats against Heidi pertaining to the accusations of plagiarism that have been made against her. I was mistaken, and I did not have all of the facts. I jumped to conclusions and I made a false assumption that I shouldn't have. I apologize greatly for the confusion this has caused.
I am deeply upset by the conflict this will perpetuate, and I assure anyone reading this that I would not be making this post if I thought there were any other way to protect my personal integrity and ensure that members of the fandom do not ask questions that needed to be asked because they are basing their judgments on my word.
I am very sorry about all of this.

Edit: To be explicit, I did talk to the head of the conference yesterday. Amy Tenbrink confirmed that there were death threats, but that that was all that she confirmed. I have since talked to her again and clarified that the threats were not specifically directed at or to any one person. |

... wow.
This looks like some prime wank for anyone with the time and inclination to go through the backstory and figure out just what the dust-up is.
It seems, very predictably, to center around this fic. Which, having read, I feel deserves to be wanked mercilessly for its own sake. If only because if not, then I will probably wind up wanking myself because, wow, a story about gay men and homophobia. Actually, scratch that, I already did, haha.
Of course, for all I know, it already has been, because it sounds like something fandom_wank would have a ball with--I have been so woefully out of touch with this place lately.
