For the record, I didn't reply to ashenmote's post because you'd already banned me--otherwise I would have pointed out that his implication that posts on other journal systems will be considered grounds for banning from FW is, in fact, setting FW up as the fandom police.

It's your comm. Do what you like. However, based on what I've seen on both fandom_discuss and bad_penny, you're being way too free with the banhammer, and it's looking like you've let it go to your head.

And if you can't take people telling you that you're being an idiot, then you shouldn't be on FW or any of its affiliated communities.

I was pointing out that jumping around like a kangaroo on crack to CYA is a waste of time. The plagiarism exposes are no longer simply a post on BP where people point and laugh: it's being discussed outside of JF, and outside of HP fandom, and it's stupid to think that you can control anyone's behavior outside of the community--which is what saying that people will be banned from fandom_discuss for things said on bad_penny sounds like. And the people hate every community on JF? Will still hate us, no matter how many people you ban. So deal with the fact that modding that comm is going to piss people off and stop trying to cover your ass.

Even though I disagreed with you, your comments seemed very appropriate as a response to a mod post. Squashing reasonable dissent makes bad_penny seem, uh, a lot like feminist_rage. :(

I really did not want to spend another moment embroiled in wank, especially because I made the meme to begin with to de-stress FROM wank. The bottom line is that people were getting continuously hurt and upset by the meme, and people I respect were losing respect for me. Like I said on the post, the argument of whether or not anonymity = hate is not one it is possible to win. So I'm just not going to do them anymore.

I'm sorry. I really did have a great time, especially on the second meme. Pandas forever. ♥

But I don't regret deleting them.

You don't have to do anon memes anymore, but you could have simply frozen the threads and said 'guys, save what you want because it's going down in a week' or something. Hell, if I'd known, I'd have shelled out some cash for a jf account and moved the comments over, just like freethemarquee did.

There were email addresses from people who'd wanted to meet up, and threads filled with kindness and wonderful advice and craziness. I would have loved to have those. Yeah, it's your jf and we can't stop you from doing what you want. It's also just the internet and not the end of the world. But it's also extremely wanky.
