| 12:09 pm | I am a naming genius. There is a cat who hangs around our apartment complex. She is very grey. I call her Grey Cat. Or sometimes GC. Her actual name is apparently Fluffy, according to the women who live upstairs and feed her. This is a name utterly without imagination and romance, so I persist in calling her Grey Cat. She now responds to this name, and will come when I call. There is another cat who sometimes comes by. Its name is Other Cat. And a raccoon who will come by and eat the cats' food. Its name is Bad Raccoon. ( There are pictures of GC and BR below the cut. ) |

| 11:20 am | Insulation! The weekend before last, it got damn cold in our apartment. I came up with an odd insulation solution. It didn't work quite as well as I had hoped, but it amuses me, so I'm not taking it down, even though our heater is now working. ( Picture under the cut ) That's ~3x4.5 feet of VHS videos. The count is somewhere between 250 and 260 (I found a couple more after we took this picture). I need to reorganize it, everything's just kind of higgledy-piggledy at the moment. |

| 12:38 am | Dag, yo. Things are getting a little wanky on my blog, Braisin' Hussy. A few days ago, I found this site, jatbar.com, that reviews Bay Area restaurants. I posted about it because I liked that it was reviewing places that weren't just in San Francisco and Berkeley. My friends check out the site, and have some complaints. A reviewer from the site addresses those complaints. I notice/comment that all the ratings are from five to ten, which seems weird. My friend Zack gets mad about this. Then one of the owners/creators of the site comes by to address his complaints. Eep. Fifteen comments is a lot for my little blog (even with three of them from me, it's still a lot). I was just so excited! |

| 8:41 am | Kitchen Confidential Damn, I was really hoping there was going to be some chef-wank over on the eGullet forums about the premiere of Kitchen Confidential last night. But people are generally pretty calm. Damn it. I hope Bourdain posts that he was horrified by it and everyone starts wanking. Oh, please! I should do a search to see who was horrified at the inclusion of the Patagonian toothfish (more commonly known in its "sexy" renamed form, Chilean sea bass). Shouldn't there be some activists stirred up by that? I thought it was endangered. I remember when there was a big to-do in California about grocery stores and restaurants no longer selling it. Maybe it's made a comeback. I hope it has. That fish is damn tasty. |
