Ben had been up when Cillian left because…well, Ben tends to be up before Cillian anyway, it’s a habit he’s yet to break even now. He could have let his boy sleep a bit longer, but he had wanted to give him a proper send off and a few things to think about while he was on set. He smirks a bit thinking of that.

Cillian sits in the back of the car driving him home, enjoying (not for the first time) the luxury of not having to worry about traffic, about remembering to stay on the right side of the road and really, not having to concentrate on a thing. He's had a hard day on set, takes not going as well as he likes...and not just him, but the whole set seemed out of sorts all day. Playing with the screen of his phone, Cillian hesitates on calling Ben. He wants, aches, to hear his husband's voice, but he's not heard from him since their call a week prior and Cillian's innate stubbornness is keeping him from reaching out for the support he needs and wants.
( And why is that? You thought I would simply stay away when you wouldn't answer a question I asked truthfully? )

The collection of gifts are fitting and appreciated. I have already used the stick and journal, though I've not encountered a bear or a shark to test my knives on. It might be time to learn how to really whittle from Da.

Ben tipped the driver as he got out of the car in front of the home he shared with Cillian, thanking him as he hefted his bag up and started for the steps – grinning with the thought of finally seeing his husband again. This job had taken longer than expected and he had been out of contact, so he was more than ready to spend some time with Cillian. Unlocking the door, he moved inside and called out – but was greeted by neither Cillian nor Connall.

Cillian stretches in bed, opening his eyes and sighing happily. He's lightly sore all over from a wonderful weekend. Though it's not their official anniversary, he and Ben consider Halloween at Sarlat to mark the beginning of their lives together and every year is a new adventure. Hardly able to believe that this weekend marks four years of life together, Cillian smiles and then pushes up from the bed with a soft groan. Ben's not in bed, so he's likely gone for a morning walk to allow Cillian a chance to rest up and recover from their weekend. He picks up the phone and calls in a room service order, humming once he's hung up the phone. Ben'll be pleased when he returns and Cillian just might be able to lure him back to bed with food (and his body) for another day of celebrating.

Cillian laughs while lacing up his final skate. It's been years since he's been out on the ice, but the option is just too good to pass up and he was thrilled when Ben confirmed that he could skate. Rubbing his gloved hands together, Cillian grins at Ben and almost bounces in his seat. "You almost ready?"
Ben wonders if he's going to regret this, it had been many many years since he had been in skates, but Cillian had been so excited well.... he couldn't have said no. He grins a bit, tying off the last lace. "Ready," he confirms.

Cillian smiles as he climbs out of their car. Ben has surprised him with a getaway to New Zealand and his excitement was brimming to the surface now that they were at the hotel. Turning to his husband, he looks up and bats his eyelashes at him. "This was probably the best idea you've had...well, aside from marrying me that is."
"That was a pretty damned good idea, wasn't it?" Ben replies, grinning and oh my god glad to be in a hemisphere not in the throes of summer. He kisses the younger man's lips, nipping lightly before hoisting their luggage.

Cillian stretches in the warm sunshine on the couch. Though it's not warm outside, he has the heat up a bit and is sunning himself in their sunroom. His pups is grown, huge and harder than ever for him to control, but also still his little puppy, curling up near him at all times. Though, especially so with Ben out of the house. With a sigh, he closes his eyes and curls his fingers against Connall's neck.

Ben is wearing a silly grin as he gets everything set up inside of the hedge-maze, awaiting Cillian's arrival. After all, the first time they had met had been a random encounter, Ben found something romantic about meeting for the picnic instead of going there together. He lays the blanket out, opening the basket and taking out various picnic type implements--wine, little finger foods...bread, cheese, fruit... just a light fare they could snack on while enjoying one another. Standing back, he looks over his handiwork, satisfied, and waits on his husband.

Cillian reaches up and straightens his tie, brushes out the fine wrinkles of his suit and turns to look himself over in the mirror. He looks good, as he was well aware he would, but today it matters for the first time. Today is the day he and Ben are going to pledge themselves to each other - as partners and as Sir and boy. It is not the happiest day of his life or the most important, but it certainly ranks right up there for him. With a smile, he makes his way out of his room in the suite and heads over to knock on Ben's door.

Cillian laughs at Ben's joke, leaning in against him slightly at the crowded bar. They are waiting for another round of drinks and just getting out to enjoy themselves alone -or at least without the family- after another wonderfully hectic holiday. His eyes sparkle at his lover, the knowledge that Ben's family love him and include him making this holiday so much more relaxed than some of the previous ones.

Looking over the list of things yet to be done, all the changes that have come through for their wedding, Cillian tosses the stack of papers back on the desk and settles back in his chair. "It's just not going to happen," he murmurs out loud. "I have to face that we can't possibly do this by May. The flowers were just the start." Another sigh and he closes his eyes, pinches the bridge of his nose and tilts his head back against the chair. Cillian breathes in and out a few times as he tries to dream up a way it will work.

Ben had gotten done with the appointment he had earlier than he thought, so he'd headed on to Citadel to just hang out for a bit while Cillian finished up ...whatever part of the wedding planning he was handling. He'd gotten a beer and moved over to play a bit of pool. A handsome young man had partnered him, sub if Ben was still any judge of such things. There had been a touch of flirting, but nothing real...hell, there's no one else Ben even has an interest in, but it was a good way to pass the time.

He'd been so caught up in work and the engagement that he's realized that he's neglected his friend and that just won't do. With a glance around, he takes in the very interesting things going on and just shakes his head, wondering if Chris will be happier moving somewhere else. The bar's in full swing as he moves to the bar and orders them up a couple of beers and settles himself on a stool to watch the door.

Cillian nearly crawls from the back seat of the car. It's an extravagance to be sure, but one he gladly pays in order to make it home from the theatre as quickly as possible. And, as much of a joy as getting back to work has been, he's finding himself missing Ben, Connall, the house and the rather idyllic little world they've created. As he lets himself into the house, Cillian's thoughts wander to the idea of giving up acting for a bit. "I'm home," he calls hope, hoping Ben's not asleep already.
