Title: Light A Roman Candle Author: Calysta Rose Fandom: Covert Affairs Wordcount: 1039 Rating: PG-13 Characters: Annie Walker, Vivian Long Pairing(s): Annie Walker/Vivian Long Genre: Pre-Slash Warning(s): No Beta Notes: Title from " Light A Roman Candle With Me" by fun. I don't even know people, I wrote all this in about 40 minutes. I don't know if there is anyone else on the planet that is even interested in this show or (especially) this pairing. But I had to write it. It felt good. There may be more coming. Disclaimer: I do not own these characters or the world they inhabit. Best I can tell they are owned by these companies. Summary: Annie wasn't sure what she was doing, just that she wanted to do it bad enough that it felt like need. ( Read here... )Or Read on AO3Current Mood: accomplished

July 10th, 201004:51 pm: Happy (almost) B-day to De!
So, I wroted. It's very, very little. I hand wrote it. It's two little somethings that aren't necessarily connected. They have not been read over, even by me, just typed in. I will return to this though. ( Veritas: The Quest - Nikko/Calvin - morning after - PG )And not actually intended to be related to the above, written after it in fact, but hey it could totally be related: ( Veritas: The Quest - Nikko/Cal - R - first time )Yeah, I'm a cock-tease, sue me. :D With luck there will be more of this or better or something. I'm feeling inspired. Posted from DreamWidth. comments there. You can comment there with OpenID or a DWth account.Current Mood: creative

July 5th, 201001:52 pm: 13 Days of The Fool - Day Five
Today brings Daylight Breaks. One of Cassidy's more beautiful songs. This song was also on his EP, but again he's changed it up for the album. Cassidy also made a music video for the EP version, and it's exquisite. He's so amazingly creative. ( Day Five: Daylight Breaks )Cassidy says that this is a slightly more acoustic version of the song. He also changes some of the pacing. Now normally I'm not a big fan of that, I get set in my ways, but it does work here. The song itself is so beautiful and moving that the changes merely add nuances. I look forward to listening to it many times and comparing it with the EP version. Cassidy's The Fool , comes out July 13th. The first single, Spindle , is available for purchase now. He also has an EP out, Little Boys and Dinosaurs, which you can buy on iTunes and preview on his site. Posted from DreamWidth. comments there. 09:43 am: 13 Days of The Fool - Day Four
Whiskey in Churches is the first Cassidy Haley song that xof1013 shared with me. She sent me to the video and once I cooled back off enough to respond, I naturally asked for more. :D Today Cassidy presents the album version of this song. ( Day Four - Whiskey in Churches )Shallow Moment: I appreciate what (little) he had on while introducing this video. *grin* He's a beautiful man and I am happy that he's into sharing that with us. Anyways, this wasn't my favorite song off the EP (though I did like it quite a bit), and I'm intrigued by the way he's reworked it here. I can't say I have a preference between the two versions, I've had lots more time with the EP version. I can say that I appreciate the juxtaposition of 'profane' and 'sacred'. And really, do yourself a favor, click the link above for the original music video. Cassidy's The Fool , comes out July 13th. The first single, Spindle , is available for purchase now. 02:29 am: My country tis of thee...
When I was little, I believed in the Bill of Rights. I did. I actually thought that that's what this country was about. The Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. I thought that everyone here in the United States considered these documents to be the blueprint for our country and how we treat each other. I mean, it bothered me that they said "all men" are created equal, but I figured they meant "all people" but since they were from olden days they used archaic expressions like referring to the general human species as "men". You make allowances for olden days, you know. So, obviously, I'm white. I am not patriotic and chest-beating patriotism makes me ill. I find nationalism, of any sort, to be unappealing in general. Which is not to say I don't believe in trying to improve my country (politics, military, environment, social issues). I just don't believe in sitting around patting myself on the back for what an AWESOME COUNTRY DUDE that I live in. Because I don't live in an awesome country. I live in a country that is in some key ways better than many countries, but not better than all other countries. I am grateful that we have no legal slavery here, anymore. I am grateful that legally women are equal, though not in practice most of the time. I am grateful that technically there is no state sponsored religion, though it's hard to tell that when living in the south. I am grateful that I have freedom of speech, for now, sort of. I am so grateful that queer issues are becoming increasingly spoken about and more and more public figures are coming out, making it slightly more likely that queer teenagers won't suicide or be killed for existing. So I'm not proud to be an American. Because I have some freedoms, but not enough, and most of the people in the US don't even have those. But I still hope. And I still believe in the Declaration and the Constitution and the Bill of Rights though. I believe in the Ideal form, not the actual words they are written in. You know, and with modifications. Basically I believe in what they could've been, what they should've been. Ooh, I know! I'm proud to be an American because Adam Lambert is from America! ;) (Everything comes back around to Adam for me these days. \o/)Posted from DreamWidth. comments there.
