Attention kids coming in from here, JournalFen is for 18 years and older. JournalFen runs the LiveJournal code but is not, in fact, owned/run by LJ. Your login won't work here. And I don't tolerate homophobes. Anonymous comments are screened, and IP addresses are logged.

For my reference mostly. I've got band pictures, who's who, who plays what, pairing trends that I'm aware of, official sites and primer/picspam posts. This is not an exhaustive/definitive post. It's what I know about who I want to know about. I'll be adding more info to this post

PS: LARGE PICTURES (though only one for each band)

The Big Three: Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, Panic At The Disco )

The Two That Go Great With Everyone: Cobra Starship and The Academy Is... )

Three More: The Hush Sound, Empires, The Cab )

Two I'd Like To See More Of: 30 Seconds To Mars and The Bravery )

Family stuff

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
So mom got her test results today, she has lymphoma. They don't have any further details and won't until after she gets in to see an oncologist which will take like 3-4 days to arrange. I don't know if she'll get to see a doctor at that time or if (because she's on the low income thing) they'll just schedule her for some other date in the future.

I'm feeling spectacularly shitty right about now.

Ciao!

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
I'm mostly all packed up, just a few touches here and there, and ready to go. Going to spend the night at the friend's who is going to take me to the airport in the morning.

I am VERY ready to go.

Naturally, I got my period today. Still, that's better than tomorrow since I can get all my cramping done on the ground. :D

I won't be online tonight, but I will be back online Friday evening.

Love to all.

Thanks for putting up with my recent whining.

Yet another revised tv schedule

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
here.

I'm basically down to 8 1/2 planned hours of tv watching. I feel almost bad about that for some reason. Like I'm failing my duty as a media fan. But I just can't be bothered investing my time and energy and emotions into shows that are probably going to be pulled right off the air just as they get interesting. I've been toyed with, by all of the networks, too often.

I've got a high percentage of 'trash' tv shows, ie: reality shows. And this is something I swore I'd never do. But for me it goes back to my complaint above: why get invested in a scripted show that is never going to have a chance to finish telling its story? Top Chef, Project Runway, Models of the Runway (which I admit is my OMFG trainwreck can't look away show) - none of them matter. If they end tomorrow I'll be moderately disappointed but I won't be left wanting, desperate and unhappy at the lack of resolution. I'd list all the shows that this has happened with but I don't think even Dreamwidth allows entries that long. /SO FUCKING BITTER

And I'm tired of the run of the mill procedurals, and I loathe medical dramas, and I have no time for half-assed sci-fi. So, that doesn't leave me with much. Though I admit to slightly enjoying How I Met Your Mother, that I sometimes catch pieces of when Mom is watching it. But come on, it's got Willow and Doogie. ;)

On the upside, I am loving the hell out of my music. :D

Mom: "What are you watching?!"
Me: "The Adventure of Sherlock Holmes' Smarter Brother"

Me: *checks info screen* "Yeah, it's totally ancient. Made in 1975." *glares at mother who is now giggling like a nut*

Premier Thursday v2.a - Fringe

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Fringe airs opposite Supernatural. Which means I have to wait til Fox posts it on their site in order to watch it. I fucking adore Fringe, but Supernatural wins the timeslot war hands down. So I'll talk about that later, whenever I get to see it.

Meanwhile, going to be dropping Vampire Diaries. Well, not dropping exactly. It was on trial and while I'll still flip it on, I'm not going to be paying close attention.

Supernatural continues to impress me, but... )

Project Runway is...eh. The loser tonight was just who I expected it to be, though they did get me on the winner. Models of the Runway, which yes I admit to watching, is like some sort of sociological experiment gone wrong. I swear I wouldn't be surprised if one or more of them went off the deep end and went on a killing spree.

PS: Sorry, again, De. :( One night I'll stay awake and focused again.

I just got asked out to lunch

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
I was sitting outside, having just woken up, barely awake, not washed, not shaved, being my tubby little self. And along comes one of the groundskeepers for the apt complex. We'd spoken once before, just general exchange of pleasantries. And he asked me out today. I don't even know.

So I may or may not go to lunch with him on Saturday. I mean, free food is nice. :D And it's lunch, which is not a "sex is on the menu" meal. Because wow is it not.

Being a virtual shut-in, you'd think my chances for randomly meeting people would be limited. Apparently not.

And as nice as it is for the universe to keep delivering guys while I sit at home, I'd really rather have money. Just putting that out there. Guys are nice and all, but I'd prefer women and money would be more useful than either.

Premier Tuesday v1 - Melrose Place

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Not going to lie, the only reason I am watching is because I've got a tiny girl crush on Ashlee Simpson-Wentz. :D I did watch, for a little bit, the original Melrose Place way back when so I'm marginally familiar with the show.

Updated TV Watching

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
So Leverage is ending this week, and Eureka is ending next week and tons of shit is about to start premiering. Naturally, that meant I needed to go and double-check my listings and stuff. Below the cut is an image of my Tuesday-Friday viewing (excluding Leverage & Eureka) as it stands now for the rest of the calendar year. There is absolutely nothing on any network (that I can tell right now) that I would make a point of watching on Saturday, Sunday or Monday.

behold the (dwindling) power of tv )

Or, you know, you could just click here and view the GoogleDoc created html version. *shrugs*

Signal Boost: Why NOT to take the "Neurobiological" Fandom Survey

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
copy/pasted from [info - livejournal.com] cesperanza's post here.

[info - personal] eruthros talks about why NOT to take the "fanfiction survey" here. Short answer: they don't know enough about what they're talking about or who they're talking to, not to mention that they're starting with some pretty dodgy biological assumptions in the first place.

I had filled in the survey, and after reading [info - personal] eruthros's post I went back and changed all my answers to nonsense and made contradictory choices on the radio button questions. The authors of the survey are morons and I won't have my answers feed into their preconceptions.

How to miss the point of a horror movie:

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Part 1: get annoyed that the villain (Elizabeth Báthory) of the movie (Stay Alive) has her history rewritten just so some stupid American teens can find her home (seriously, a plantation?!) in New Orleans. *rolls eyes*

Part 2: get annoyed when the official state rest stop signage is the wrong color (Rest Stop). Brown is the color for historical markers and state parks, not rest stops!

Dear Content Providers (ie: TV, Movie, etc)

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
I have a request. It's a simple one. It would take very, very, very little for you to comply with but would greatly be appreciated by fans/viewers/CONSUMERS.

On official sites for tv shows and movies it would be super groovy if you'd FUCKING LIST THE SONGS USED IN THE EPISODE/MOVIE!

Let's take tonight's Summer Finale of HawthoRNe for example. Now, I don't actually watch this show. I don't do medical dramas. But my mom? She's a total fan. And at the end of the episode, during a very moving emotional scene, there was a song playing. I googled the ever loving hell out of the lyrics to no avail. I carefully watched the (scrunched to the bottom of the screeen) credits in the vain hope that the song would be listed, any song. Nope. So then I went to the website.

Guess what I didn't find there? That's right. I didn't find one damn bit of info about the music. I get that with music today there are licensing issues that would make the most OCD-ridden eidetic memory having person weep. I do. But surely it's possible to LIST the song Artist and Title without incurring the wrath of RIAA/Soundscan/Whothefuckeverispullingthestringstoday?

Seriously. I have bought songs, that is MONEY IN YOUR POCKET, because I heard them on a tv show. Would it fucking kill you to provide that info on the actual official site? Why should fans have to do all the damn work for you? You already know what song you used, just fucking tell us!!!

In the end I emailed TNT on behalf of my mother. We'll see if they're capable of responding with useful information.

Am I the only one?

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
That can't help googling an old ex, seeing what I can find about them and stuff?

I hate that I do it. I don't do it often, but about once every four to six months. Usually when I'm feeling super depressed, which is then further exacerbated by what I find.

I want to forget this person. Forget they ever existed. Forget how shitty they made me feel. Just forget.

*sigh*
