Every last sexist fiend

Is it just me, or is it implied every time someone says something like, JKR has grown too big for her boots, that she has no right because she's a woman?

EtA: the subtext/vibe I'm getting it that she's 'getting uppity', and that that is just not on because she's 'only' a woman like the rest of us.

And that, friends, pisses me off beyond all reason.

I don't know if every time it's sexist, but there's definitely an undercurrent. I doubt if Stephen King were to be doing any of this - prosecuting his own SVA or giving lots of extra info on one of his books - there'd be half so much drama over it.
PS, can you LL to where [info]allthat_jas says it? I wanna see but don't wanna sift through the whole post. :(
So you make me sift through the whole post? You billain! >:(

Er...no. She's welcome to defend her copyright when it's about intellectual property.

But ... but ... isn't that what she's doing?
Nah. She's depriving ickle Stevie of his rightful fanboy dues.
God, I know. Poor Steve is really just getting shit on! lol karma
Hey, I figured you'd know where it was!
NO!

Also, she's a woman and therefore mommy to everyone else, and shouldn't be picking on her kids like that. LOVE US JKR! DOANT BEE A BAD MOMM!!!
Heh. I got that vibe, too, and I think I actually sniped to that effect.

Sexist jackasstors make me wanna backhand someone.
You and me both. I find the repeated use of the term "bitch" flung around by her detractors (mostly bloody women, who should be ashamed) particularly odious. I get the subtext that women do not deserve to be successful and/or must have cheated in some way to get it.

Given some of the mysogyny in fanfiction, esp. in HP, there's clearly this view that women are only nice if wives and mummies who stay at home and bake cakes and shit. Hence the frequent dumbing down of Potter characters like Hermione - in so many fanfics, she's a robot with umpteen kids*.

*As a working parent, it's not the kids, per se, I object to, it's the 'I must abandon my career aspirations to be a stay at home mum'.
there's clearly this view that women are only nice if wives and mummies who stay at home and bake cakes and shit.

But at the same time, any woman who DOES stay at home and bake cakes (let alone shitting) is clearly unfeministical and bad, and a good way of calling a pairing bad is to say that they'll have tons of kids, those breeders.
There's also the "she said 'yes' once, she can't say 'no' now!" undertone that's a favorite of rapist apologists, too.
No, I get that impression, too. Sometimes it's really blatant, as when some bitterfen refer to JKR as "that Rowling woman." And I don't believe anyone would feel so free to say of a male author, "Why can't he keep his mouth shut?" or "When is he finally going to shut up?" each time he gives an interview.
Given the attitude that lots of people in fandom seem to have re: covering up plagiarism and sockpuppeting and the implication that it's all about preserving appearances and not letting anyone think they're omg meen girls, that makes sense. It's all very "women should know their place and keep it."
