How strange it is, to be sitting here, only a few hours (ok, eight hours, but still), until the end of year? This year has gone by wickedly fast - though, perhaps it's a blessing, since it hasn't been that great of a year for myself or for others.
Here's to 2009 being better - or at least half way decent!

Got the news tonight that Target isn't keeping any of the Christmas help they hired. So, I'm terminated as of my last punch out next Saturday.
On one hand it sucks because a) I really like the job, b) I am trying to dig my way out of credit card hell, and c) I don't know if I'll still be at my main job after Jan 5th because we're no longer BCN employees but BCBS employess come Jan 1st - and that means we all loose our union seniority, so the layoffs BCBS has planned for Jan will basically mean we BCN employees will get the boot.
On the other hand it means I'll have time again - though I'll probably end up frittering that away working daycare which pays practically nothing.
*sighs*
When I'm in Las Vegas next month, I'm bringing my resume and I think I'm going to throw some out to some businesses if they catch my eye.
I have a huge knot of nausea clogged in my throat - I hate feeling like I'm on the cusp of bad and falling into worse.
Guess I can always claim bankruptcy, let the house go into foreclosure, and move in with my Mom if things get that bad.

I'm feeling much better today, I've slept so much I swear I shan't be able to sleep for days (or at least not without another dose of NightQuil - which I'll be taking shortly). I'm going into work tomorrow though, I need to get out of the house and away from the funky sick house feeling I've been in. I shouldn't infect anyone since the only place I'm scheduled to work at is BCN and I've been by myself in the load dock for weeks.
One thing I hate about being sick is the need to call in. I feel as if I've left someone down when I call in - and I called in to Target on Sunday night, BCN and the daycare on Monday and BCN again today - I've a doctor's note saying I should be on bed rest til the 17th, but still... I had to call in. I don't normally do that. But as the daycare is being around kids, I kinda had to for that one.
On an unrelated note, I think I've written myself into a wall. I might need to procure a pre-beta again for the HP/Doctor Who story I've been working on. Or maybe my sick brain has just blocked me and I'm not sure where to go. *shrugs* Who knows. Maybe the Doctor Who Christmas Special will help get me out of my funk.

I've hit 14K in words for the unnamed Doctor Who/Harry Potter crossover I've been working on (for forever it seems). The plot seems to be moving slow to me, but I'll see what a beta says once I rope someone into reading this (once it's finished of course).
Loads of lovely stuff to read all over the board with lots of Christmas exchanges going on, and soon the sshg_exchange will be posting too! Can't hardly wait.
Other than that, bratlet and I are good. I've been working so much, I feel old but at least I'm working. Hope everyone else is doing well.

I was able to breed Cuimhne and Gwalhaved today, which resulted in the lovely grey egg at the very top of the egg list. Orghlaith and Taranutios decided it wasn't time to have sproglets, so nothing happened there. I'm hoping I get a bit more male dragons, since most of mine are precious girls.

I just saw this on one of my writerly blogs and thought I'd pimp this over here, cause I know there are some authors (looks at ubiquirk, firefly_124, ginny_weasley31, and southernwitch69) who could punch this out in this limited time frame. It's a paid market, and a way to get your name out there!

Story Word Count and Parameters
Content: Speculative fiction, fantasy (urban, dark and gothic), horror and steampunk. Should be erotic or sensual in nature. Story can be any rating, including NC-17 but must contain a plot. No porn without plot. Remember, Three Crow Press is het, gay, supernatural and alien friendly. Any form of erotica will be considered on the merit of writing, not orientation of subjects.
Fiction: Between 500 and 3,000 words.
Settings: Any part of the world, mythology or culture.
Timeline: We will consider any story set at any time in the past, present or future as long as the story is within the specified genres.
Payment: One cent a word (USD) upon acceptance and return of contract.
Rating
Please be advised that some content will contain mature circumstances and sexual situations. All NC-17 submissions that are acceptable will be marked so to alert our readers of these situations.

I was bad yesterday.
I got, in my paycheck and small bonus (yeah, BCN!), and instead of taking that small bit and paying off a bill, or saving it (as would've been smart), I spent it all, and a bit more besides.
I was able to find airline tickets to Las Vegas for $200 round trip, so I spoke with the bratlet, and we're taking a bit of the Christmas money and my bonus and we're going to see my Mom next month. We're going to be gone from Jan 21st (late evening so brat doesn't miss school) until the 26th. Yes, it's a Wednesday through Monday deal, but bratlet doesn't have school on the 22nd or 23rd because those are administrative work days, so he'll only have to miss the 26th.
This, on top of having to spend 3 days in Grand Rapids in April for the State Bowling Tournament and 3 days in Mobile Alabama for my uncles 50-odd year retirement/family reunion thingy-ma-jig at the end of May, pretty much means Alcatraz is out. The Grand Rapids thing I've got money squirreled away for and the Family thing I'm driving and sharing rooms with family so it should be semi affordable, but to add the HP convention in San Fran on top of all this would be overkill.
Bratlet and I are, however, still planning on doing the Universal Studios HP convention in 2010, and we've got $100 already saved for it (we're using our movie money jar).
So... pretty much, that's it.
pern_dragon, dragonaries, and I know there's more HP fen in Vegas but I'm forgetting who... if you want to get together one of the nights I'm in Vegas to be all geekish and drink, let me know!

It's December! Fuck yeah! That means it's time for ![[info]](http://www.journalfen.net/img/community.gif) smutty_claus and that the sshg_exchange will be starting soon (I just turned mine in finally)!
This week I've a light week, so I'm going to do some Sycophant Hex related stuff. First on my list is creating visual tutorials on how to work things in the new e-fiction 3. Yeah, we're trying to get some of the old bells and whistles from e-fiction 1 back, but it'll be nice to have visuals on how to do things.
Also, Illusions is closing. I honestly don't have much more information than that.
However, a nifty thing about e-fiction 3 is the fact that you can upload artwork right to the archive, whereas E-1 you couldn't, you had to use uberly confusing copper whatever that no one on SH's staff understands. So maybe we can kind of incorporate illusions back into the archives. It's still all up in the air.

sshg_exchange project is now officially done. Or rather got done the other day, but I've been working so much this weekend, that this is the first chance I've had to post. Though... mmm I'm kinda worried that I've not heard back from my main beta S yet. Normally she's really, really good at getting things back to me within a few days, even when it is over 13K in words. I'll not panic until next week though.
I've got another long 7 hour shift a Target tomorrow, and then I don't work for them again until next Saturday (for 8 hours). That means only 20 hours at BCN and 15 hours at the daycare. I might actually be able to finish all the stuff I need to do for Sycophant Hex this week!
Crap, it's 2am almost. I gotta head to bed. I work at noon.
I hope everyone is doing well, and that all the people in the states had a great holiday. Everyone else, try to have a lovely weekend (or what's left of it)!

Sorry I’ve not been a chatty natty lately. Twitter no longer works at main job, and I’ve no access to a computer at the daycare or Target. Bleh, I’m glad I have Thursday off this week, from all my jobs, cause I’ve been working close to 60 hours the last two weeks.
I feel bad cause I’m still not done with my exchange project. I’m shooting for being complete and betaed by Saturday. *fingers crossed*
I hope everything is going well for everyone else.
And mariannelee is a life saver! I’m having one right now, and it’s making all the aches and pains from being on my feet for the last seven hours go away!
