I just don't know how to feel about this: I chose Kristen Stewart as a little-known celebrity PB for a Firefly RPG back in the day, and now she wouldn't be accepted thanks to Twilight.

It just kinda boggles the mind.

omfg fanfic [22 Apr 2008|02:12am]
[ mood | *sporfle!* ]

I've been perusing my old archives and found something that amused and didn't totally embarrass me.

FYI, I used my RL name in this, but I've replaced it with Chai for the Internets. :P

Once Upon a Time
Author: [info]chaimonkey
Written: 1/11/2005

Genre: Self-insertion, crack
Rating: PG
Warnings: None

Once upon a time, in the ancient city of Kyoto, there lived the beautiful princess Chai.

Chai: *preens*

Her lips were ruby red, and her voice was as sweet as the nightingale’s song. Long, ebony tresses brushed her face, which was like the full-blossomed moon. All the men in the land longed for Chai’s graceful hand in marriage.

Chai: Hubba hubba!

postponed due to midget hanging [15 Apr 2008|06:56pm]

The JKR Pwnage Pie (or tart, rather) has been postponed until Thursday due to the local grocery store having absolutely NO berries.

I mean, WTF?

Alright, after his return to the show tonight, there seriously better be some Saul Williams John Legend / Stephen Colbert popping up out there!

EDIT I always get those two mixed up, which is crazy because they're total opposites. I mean, all black men look the same!

thrifty! [14 Apr 2008|07:49pm]
[ mood | Tantalized ]

Inspired by the pwnage chart from the RDR vs. JKR shennanigans, I've decided that on my off day tomorrow, I shall make a JKR Pwnage Pie! (but for visual purposes, it shall be a fruit pizza / tart of sorts. I'm still waiting on a basic recipe from Mum)

Here's my rough plan (Updated with different fruits!):

JKR Pwnage Pie

Strawberries = 91.41% Rowling Material
Blueberries = 3.81% Other Non-Rowling Material
Gooseberries = 0.01% "Flints"
Cherries = 0.68% Facetious Remarks
Blackberries = 1.05% Common Knowledge / Real World Facts
Mangoes = 0.10% Other Unattributed Third-Party Text
Raspberries = 1.20% Etymologies
Kiwis = 0.09% Citations to Third-Party Sources
Plum = 1.65% Citations to Ms. Rowling's Statements

Now all I need to do is decide what to do for the 0.10% of Other Unattributed Third-Party Text and the 0.09% of Citations to Third-Party Sources, as well as convert all those %'s into cooking measurements (i.e. 1% = 1 cup).

ETA: The actual recipe I'm basing this off of...

Fruit Tart Pizza )

So yeah, the idea is to follow this recipe and just adjust the fruits and amounts of fruit, obviously. (My mom notes that the fruit amount in the recipe isn't enough anyhow... or maybe too much, I forget - this is why I don't usually cook btw.)

I, of course, will take pictures.

Any more suggestions? Also: Since I'll be broiling the fruit, does it matter if they're not entirely ripe yet?

And: [info]cleolinda I should definitely try that!

Thanks for all the help folks!

Why do I want to smack the athiests in the Tribune's comments section just as much as I do Rep. Davis?

Seriously folks - pull your heads out of your asses. Until you can scientifically prove to me that God doesn't exist, atheism is a belief. Just like Christianity, etc. is a belief because we cannot scientifically prove that God does exist. Both sides can come up with philosophical arguments, anecdotal evidence, and spew flame out their nostrils an equal amount, but neither can scientifically, empirically prove that God either does or does not exist.

Atheism is a belief. Atheists have faith that God does not exist. Get over it.

And to reiterate a previous rant: Broad-brushing all religious persons as evil, discriminatory monsters while crying persecution just doesn't work, mmkay?

"No, it's not necessary for anyone. Eating is, eating meat is not."

'scuse my while I disagree. No, I don't have a disorder like the examples used further in that thread, but I do border on anemic and I do need those endorphins which the consumption of red meat triggers. If I went veggie, I'd probably waste away.

GIVE ME MEAT OR GIVE ME DEATH, RAR

In other news: The girl I'm subleasing from forgot her blue bucket of cleaning supplies and asked me to put it on the stoop for her. I couldn't help but send her the Lolrus macros.

Noooo mah Bucket!

my thoughts on yaoi bisexuality [31 Dec 2007|12:57am]
Inspired by this comment here, I've decided that there are two types of bisexuality:

1. Those who like people regardless of gender
2. Those who like people BECAUSE OF their gender

I like to call Type 1 "Philosophical Bisexuals," because it's all in the mind; while Type 2's are "Physical Bisexuals," as they put more of an emphasis on the person's gender (one would hope personality is a factor.)

I'm a Type 2: Gender is just as important to me as personality. As I explained to the lesbian club at college, I'm bisexual because both genders turn me on. The End.

One could say I'm Type 2 because I'm slightly shallow, as I will not have sex with someone I'm not attracted to. I define relationships this way:

A) If their personality is attractive, they're a friend
B) If their body is attractive, they're a fuck
C) If both their personality and body are attractive, they're a potential partner

...And that's it, really. Pikmin's kinda killed my attention span. Yay Pikmin!

Re: OMG Dumblydore is still gay! [06 Nov 2007|11:26pm]
[ mood | Bitter ]

These two quotes are great:

Pat: ya know this woman is FINISHED! ! I FOUGHT AWAY PEOPLE ABOUT MY KIDS WATCHING SOMETHING WITH MYSTIC'S IN IT, THEN PUTS SEXUALITY INTO IT,, WHAT DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH CHILDERN ? SHE'S FINISHED IN MY HOME WITH MY CHILDREN AND MYSELF . HOW DARE HER TO PUT THE ISSUE OF SEUALITY IN FRONT OF CHILDREN NEVER AGAIN NOT MY CHILDREN AND NOT IN MY HOME ! FINISHED !!!!BOYCOTT THIS TRASH SHE'S FINISHED ! !

Donna: One question-why is it that gay life styles are pushed in everyone's face? I don't really care what a person does with their personnal life or behind closed doors. Just don't throw it in my face or the faces of the young.

K, so you're just peachy-keen with the extensive Harry/Ginny, Ron/Hermione, Lupin/Tonks, Snape/Lilly, etc. etc. ad nauseum straight relationships and sexualities being "pushed in your face," but G-d forbid she casually mention that Dumbledore is gay. I love how people don't even blink at heterosexual relationships, however explicit they may be (short of porn - sometimes not even then), but if someone is even noted to be gay, suddenly the sexuality of the characters are being shoved in their faces. Because the only sexuality that gets shoved are the gay ones, apparently.

People suck.

my thoughts on "racism is not funny" [01 Nov 2007|10:27am]
[ mood | Brash ]

First off, apologies for bringing the metawank in [info]i_wank. I've bowed out of the comments and am now bitching in an appropriate space: my own.

I get the point of racist wanks being frowned upon: they tend to bring the serious thoughtsTM and my thoughts on racismTM comments. But frankly, it pisses me off that there seems to be a movement to blacklist all racism posts on the basis of them being about racism, even before the failboat has set sail. That's bullshit.

Take for instance, the two recent racism wanks: the Heroes one in [info]clairvoyantwank and the Dog the Bounty Hunter one in [info]i_wank. The former is fail, and the latter actually had potential until it was shot down with "zomg racism isn't funny yannow!"

The Heroes wank wasn't a wank. It was a legitimate topic for the posters to discuss (unlike Harmony Day), and it was a legitimate, well-worded and supported petition. It wasn't batshit, or crazy, or absurd. And it sure as hell wasn't even brewing wank, since it was posted in a community where everyone agreed with the OP. So, fail on the posting.

But the Dog the Bounty Hunter wank was legit. There was wank. There was bitchiness, absured posturing on the point of the wanker, Sukie, and it even had a little Racism Bingo in there. So why the fuck did we feel the need to cut it down in the first comment with "racism isn't funny"? It was at the very least interesting. We're a community of train wreck watchers, that's what we do, and that's what this was. But apparently some train wrecks are too terrible to watch for some people.

And must I remind folks of how vehemently they defended the Harmony Day wank, and the hilarious icons that came out of the Mugglenet Slavery wank? Racism (wanks) can be funny, folks. You just have to let the wank comments develop first rather than nipping all conversation in the bud.

Now, time for work.
