Wow, insanejournal really got mucked up. I was always suspicious of 1and1, but I didn't think that they were THIS bad. 0_o I just wonder what happened there. Although, I kind of would think that a professional company would get their servers from a more reliable, less weird-European-business-practices company. I mean, from what I see from a webhosting forum I look at from time to time, I got the impression that 1and1 is a massive, massive company who is famous for their poor level of customer service, and there are a lot of complaints about the faxes and cancellation procedures.
I was talking about this with Meril before, and I don't really understand why are the RPers flocked from GJ to IJ. From what I understand, RP became big at GJ in the days where you couldn't get new LJ accounts with a code, but that isn't true anymore. Just like regular LJ now, at IJ if you don't pay, your account displays ads, and even before this latest incident, uptime at IJ was fairly spotty. Possibly objections to LJ policies would explain it, but I don't think most GJ people didn't use LJ because of that, it was because GJ offered an ungodly amount of icons, or usernames that were taken at LJ. |
