I don't do these very often (I'm lazy and spend too much time at YouTube or reading slash fic, lol), but I was tagged by shoebox_addict, so here goes, lol!
Rules: Once you’ve been tagged, you are supposed to write a note with 16 random things, facts, habits, or goals about you. At the end, choose 16 people to be tagged.
( 16 Random Things )
I tag abarero, breespearls, da_angel729, danabird11, darth_krayt, gypsy_girl090, its_citrine, kate_scarlet, lunalovepotter, redmonster, reverdybrune, rhrsoulmates, starcrossed, stellar_dust, stormyskies, and thenarnianqueen
On a completely unrelated note, it's a new year so I think I'm gonna spend some time getting new icons, lol.
Oh and as we all know they've named the Eleventh Doctor. My jury is still out on him (I don't even think they've filmed anything with him yet!), but man is there some wank over this or what?! Some fandom needs to chill and give the guy a chance, ya know? (Though then again I'm still upset DT is leaving, but that's a whole other can of worms and wankery in and of itself....)Current Mood: bored Current Music: "Pride and Joy" by Marvin Gaye

Happy New Year's everyone! :D I hope everyone had a great time ringing in the new year! (On a side note, I can't remember which broadcast it was I was watching, but before the ball dropped they played 'Imagine' by John Lennon, and even though it isn't necessarily my favorite Lennon song, I couldn't help feeling all "aww...." and sweet about it, lol, it was really cool.)
Ok, well so here's a sum up of what I've been up to since I last posted.

So I'm off and running for the new year it seems, lol. I've got a little under two weeks left of break and as stupid as this is going to sound (b/c I've already admitted to my laziness when it comes to this room cleaning activity of mine, lol), I really want to get this cleaning stuff done with asap so I can chill for these last few days. I want to have this cleaning done by tomorrow or Monday so I can commit myself fully to reading, writing, and watching movies, lol. Crazy talk! LOL! Oh well, that's about as exciting as my life gets (or well 'fun' really, all sorts of exciting things have happened to me, just unexpected things, and some weren't real fun, lol, but my type of fun is having a nice clean room to read my Beatles books in these days, lol).Current Mood: silly Current Music: "Let 'Em In" by Paul McCartney/Wings

My Last Post in 2008!

Well, this is my last post on LJ for this year. Tomorrow and New Year's Day, Sci Fi is running a 48 hour Twilight Zone marathon and I intend to devote my time to watching and recording what I can of it. Then Friday I finally get to go to town and check out any potential sales they might have, hopefully I'll find the firewire cable I've been looking for, a good digital camera, and all-in-one printer at some reasonable prices. :) After that, I plan to clean out my closet this weekend, and that is going to be a CHORE of craziness, lol (I have a LOT of junk/crap/random things in there because I am a pack rat, but I'm going to try to change that with the New Year, lol).
So this is definitely my last post in 2008. :D Hopefully if do get a good digital camera I can post some pics of my room cleaning progress, lol. Not to be tooting my own horn here, but I am rather proud of my little Beatles shelf, and I'm a bit happy that I was able to rearrange everything to the point that I now have a room that looks like I have some actual space, lol. Organization ftw! :D

I hope 2008 has been good to everyone, and regardless of whether or not it has, I hope and pray 2009 will be better and great for us all! So here's a raised glass to the coming New Year! My eye is still swollen today, but it has vastly improved since I posted yesterday. It still hurts, but nowhere near as bad as before. So yeah on that count!
I am supposed to find out what I made on that bio final this week. A bit nervous about it, but oh well. I can only wait (which is annoying in and of itself!). *hopes for the best*
Well, I've moved on to watching my 'Batman: The Animated Series' dvds today, lol. I also plan to kick back with Star Wars tonight after the Heroes finale. A finale which leaves me with mixed feelings. I actually didn't hate it last week (it was mildly better than the episodes before it), but I don't want to get my hopes up for tonight's episode.
Speaking of finales...you know who had an awesome finale (well not really a finale, just the last episode before January)? Frakin' Gossip Girl!! Oh Chuck/Blair!! How I adore thee! Soapy goodness all around, lol.
( Meme time! )
Well as Paul McCartney sings, I hope everyone is 'simply, having, a wonderful Christmastime!'

!!!!!!!!!! *wink wink nudge nudge to all the Buffy fans who got that subject line!*
Just called my teacher and she informed me that I PASSED three of my four finals!!!!! *does the dance of joy* Not sure about yesterday's Biology final, which was my hardest one yet because it was all labeling pictures and I had been studying things like 'the function of the organs' and not where they all were...but OH WELL!!! Because I at least passed 3/4 of my classes (and all A's no less! Which is fantastic news for my GPA)!!!! I'm soooooo happy/excited/euphoric/gleeful/amazed/stunned/psyched-out/happy that I don't know what to do with myself, lol. :D :D :D :D
I want to thank each everyone of you on my flist for being so supportive and kind in your thoughts and comments on my recent posts of spazing over all of this. I tend to get excitable over anything that has to do with school and I easily freak out over the least little thing, so thank you everyone for putting up with my crazy postings on all of this! My future posts this coming break will be more cheerful I assure you, lol!
The Office Christmas episode comes on tonight, I plan to clean and reorganize my room this week, and I'm going to chill tomorrow with my recently bought Dark Knight dvd since the weather is calling for snow! :D SO...happy days are here again!!
Oh and in the coming days I hope to make a tribute post to John Lennon, the anniversary of his assassination was this past Monday (Dec 8, 1980) and I wanted to mark it in some fashion since he and The Beatles in general have been one of the most important things in my life. Not sure when I'll have the time to get around to this, but I WILL do it eventually this month, lol. It might really be more of a tribute to their music and the joy it has brought and continues to bring to my life, but whatever...it'll be a labor of love I intend to share on here one of these days, lol.

» Some Brief Thoughts...
( My thoughts on 'The Tales of Beedle the Bard' )
After seeing both Sir David Frost and Ron Howard on the Daily Show recently, I am now really, really, really wanting to see the original Frost/Nixon interviews as well as the new movie. (The website for the original Frost/Nixon interviews (aptly named frostnixon.com) has the simultaneously greatest, most dramatic, and yet cheesiest trailer for the interviews every, lol, it's a beautiful thing.)
The Dark Knight comes out on dvd this coming Tuesday. And even though I'm a bit pissed at all the awesome special features being on frakin' blue-ray (who the fuck as the income to upgrade to blue-ray during our troubling economic times?! I mean for realz ppl!), I am sooo excited to finally get it! I plan to watch this thing so much that I'll get sick of it and start love/hate it like Star Trek and Star Wars or something, lol. I plan on having a dramatic love affair on my own personal time with this thing (something that couldn't be done in a crowded movie theater, lol).
And finally, I'm considering trying out NetFlix when it comes to movie rentals. I use to go to Blockbuster for these things, until my local Blockbuster and I had a falling out two summers ago (they didn't stock every Ewen McGregor movie that I believed they should, something which I complained about and only got blank stares in return over). So since that dark time I've been relying on friends, my cable's crappy On Demand service, the actual movie theater which is expensive as crap, and used book stores trading policy (where I'll buy a movie, then sell it back after watching) to get my "I want to see this movie but not have to buy it for keeps" fix. So does anyone have any experience with NetFlix? Is it the bees knees like "they" say it is? I only know one person who has ever used them in real life, but she hasn't used them in a while and wasn't real helpful on the matter. So if anyone has any 'NetFlix experiences' please share!

...was Stephen Colbert's Christmas Special that aired this past Sunday! It was cute/funny/awesome/fantastic/terrific and all that other good gooey stuff. I was really amused at their parodying of the generalized cheesy Christmas specials of yore ("Late night cable show host Jon Stewart!") and the tongue-in-cheek manner in which they did it. Also? The Jon/Stephen slash was soooo worth it, lmao! :D

Ok, tomorrow I gotta test (yeah, I know, the day before frakin' Thanksgiving and everything) and a pie buying task (we have come to conclusion that we all suck at cooking pies in this family and since I'm not friends with Ned from Pushing Daisies, the store is our only hope and it's my mission to get said pies).

Gaaah!!! *cries like a baby* I looooved (and still love, mind you!) Pushing Daisies!!! This...this is just a tragedy.
Then again though, I shouldn't be surprised. I did see this coming. Quality tv just rarely sells for some reason.
My only consolation is that Bryan Fuller might return to Heroes, and if that happens and that show is improved and saved in turn, than I might be able to find a small twinge of forgiveness in my heart for this debacle of ABC's.
"Might", being the operative word here.

» Blogging Beyond LJ?!
Well I am doing loads better today! Not completely over this sickness yet (I blame the cold weather for this, if it was summer I'd have been cured by now!), but I feel so much better than yesterday or this past weekend. Hopefully I'll be fully over this in time for this weekend. *crosses fingers*
Ok, so during the LJ downtime today I got to thinking: should I join Twitter? It looks cool/fun, but would I end up getting annoyed with it or bored or what? Does anyone here twit (lol at Stephen Colbert on that one)? If so, do ya'll like it?
And on a random note, I talked to a friend yesterday and she has become the latest person from my real life to join Facebook. Like, for real. Everyone I know in real life is all over this Myspace and Facebook stuff, but not LJ? Not that I'm complaining, because frankly some of my real life associates are people who I'd rather not have to put up with in internet world (because it's bad enough I know them in real life, don't need to drag them to my comfort zone of fandomness), but it did get me thinking. I use to have a Myspace (back in like 2006 or something) and I quickly lost interest in it. I don't know, it just lacked...fandom fun? LOL, and yeah all my Myspace friends? They were friends and pretend friends from real life (because somehow people you hate in real life like to suddenly pretend they don't hate you once they realize you have a Myspace it seems). SO...anyways, during the trial and tribulations of today's LJ server move I did briefly entertain the idea of joining Facebook, but then I remembered Myspace and so yeah. Didn't happen.
Does anyone else have these similar random thoughts about journaling/blogging services that aren't LJ related (I'd lump Insane Journal and Journal Fen in with LJ since a lot of it is the same people, and yes I do have a Journal Fen)?

My PSA of the Day (lol): Tomorrow is THE day people! Get out there and vote for your candidate (and just so you know there are more than two candidates on the ballot)! If lines are too long and you have to wait, don't leave, even if polls are closed if you are still in line, most states will still allow you to vote. If you're afraid of getting bored in the long lines take a friend, book, magazine, anything you need to keep from getting bored or something (I know it can get boring, I've been there), just don't get frustrated and leave. Rain, snow, sunshine, whatever the weather just stay in line and VOTE! It's your civic duty and not everyone around the world can say that they are able to participate in any sort of fair elections, so don't waste your time, get out there and vote! If, like me, you've already early voted: awesome! And if you are voting tomorrow: awesome! So be awesome and vote!! :D

It's All Hallow's Even people! Which means that I'm gonna kick back with some Edgar Allan Poe stories and the classic horror movie marathon on TCM today. LOL, pathetic right? Well I originally had other plans (relating to an awesome Rocky Horror Picture Show showing at a local theater, but I think that they'll be doing this next year so I'll just go then, lol), but I've just been so stressed out these last couple of weeks that I really, really, really need me some solitude, lol!
But I do love this holiday, especially when it falls on Friday! And so the wind is crispy, the hot chocolate will be awesome, the candy will help forward that "rotting my teeth out before I'm 30" dental plan that I seem to have every year around this time, I will have some spooky ghost/horror stories lined up to read, and I'll be happily looking forward to falling asleep to whatever TCM has in store for me tonight, so yeah I'm in a great mood!!
I hope everyone else has a fantastic holiday!!! :D

» My Goings On This Week...
Fall Break was yesterday and today (that's right folks, I only get two lousy days! Evil !@#$ school!), thus giving me essentially four days to do nothing. And I think I did a rather good job of it too. I had a swell time sitting around watching/taping movies (Sunday they had a Paul Newman marathon on TCM and I bonded with my dvd recorder!), reading some books I recently checked out from the library (and are getting returned tomorrow), and ruminating over my lack of a longer break and how I could better manage my time. Did I get anything accomplished? Nope. Did I have plans to accomplish things? Yes. Am I disappointed in myself? Eh...I guess I wish I had studied more (tomorrow I visit a hospital pharmacy for the day, Thursday I am going to try to go early voting, and I have an exam and a quiz this Friday and I'm not sure, but I think I might be failing my biology class so I probably should have at least studied it this weekend...hmm...), but seriously I have been doing NOTHING but studying since August it seems!! (Ok, probably not, but it sure feels like it, dammit!) *whew* Um...so I think spending four days doing absolutely nothing was nice (while it lasted, because I don't get another break until Thanksgiving in November and even that's only for two days as well!)
Sorry everyone, just had to rant there for a bit. I really do wish my fall break was a whole week. The local high school/middle school is out for the week, as is a larger university nearby (I go to community college, apparently they think we need more school days than the kids who go to four year schools, I think that's bunk, lol, we all deserve a week off!) *over dramatic sigh*

Well they finally ran out gas here in town! (Gas had been running out in various towns and communities near me, but not in my particular town yet. But I should've seen this coming since I live in between Nashville, Chattanooga, and Atlanta all of which are having shortages at the moment.) I have half a tank left and I filled up TWO DAYS AGO!!! *angrily hits something* I used up half a tank driving an hour to school (and an hour back, so that's two hours total per day!) Thursday and Friday. I have to drive Monday (no longer carpooling on that day, but thank God no school on Tuesday and as far as I know still carpooling Wednesday), Thursday, and Friday (won't carpool on this day only because my nursing friend has to attend a thing in another town, but after that back to carpooling on Friday's). If we don't get in gas soon I have no idea what I'm going to do. :(
This day is just turning out to be the suck. (I mean the gas thing really bums me out, but I'm still upset over Paul Newman so I'm taking a stab at this just being a suck day all around.)
