I never have a problem with people adding me to their friends lists. It threw me once, the first time someone I didn't recognize friended me, but I've gotten more used to it. I don't always add people back, though if your journal looks interesting or you say interesting things on other journals I read, I'll probably go ahead and friend you. I don't always have time to read all the journals on my FList in detail, though, so don't take it personally if I tend to comment in periodic bursts.
