Except to ask who the fuck is that and why is his face too big for his head?
Anyway, I read New Avengers. I've been avoiding it, because I hate Captain America. No, I really do. He sucks. I really enjoyed it! And Secret Invasion, which I was expecting to hate. Isn't Ms Marvel awesome? I never read anything with her in it before. And Jessica Drew! I hope actual!Jessica gets a spot on an Avengers team now. And Jessica Jones. To tell the truth I only read it for her.

From an article at Portrait magazine about Jensen Ackles:
Jensen himself says "Iām just an old fashioned guy," and admits to being a true gentlemen and opening doors for females when in a restraint. "I still believe in chivalry," he told Bop magazine.
And bondage, apparently. \o/

| Also, happy new year!! |
[02 Jan 2009|12:13am] |
Here's hoping 2009 is better than 2008.
( So here's my plan. )
And I've been forgetting my daily happiness posts! Shame on me.
Daily happiness! Had a terrific New Year's Eve with my beloved Catlyn, though I forgot her present, damn it. We had dinner at The Point, then drinks at a couple of places in Glenwood South (Glenmorangie Nectar d'Or, omfg), then went to a party at The Spot Studio, which is owned by Thomas Sayer and which was really very cool. I've gotta say, if your new year is actually defined by what you're doing at midnight, this is encouraging: I was with a dear friend in a very cool place where I'd never been before, with smart people, having fun.
Of course I got lost coming home, because no matter how easy it is for me to get to a place in downtown, I always, always, always get lost going home. Always.
At least this time I had almost half a tank of gas. :)
Also happiness, ( I has new boots! )
Of the not happy, I woke up this morning at 6:30 with a charley-horse in my shin. Holy fucking crap that shit hurts. I keep being anxious it's going to happen again. Not an irrational fear, given that it keeps twinging. :(
And...that's all I've got.
Oh, except for the kitty tucked up beside me. That's definitely of the happy.

My 2008 fic roundup! WOOO! I have never done one of these before, but this year, largely for my own amusement (and also the omg slow day at work) I give you the zillah_fic roundup for 2008....
Please note this includes only solo fic. Not that there was a lot of the other kind either, but hey.
( drumroll... )
So as I said to havocthecat, I'm hoping to start 2009 with a fic-writing bang. I've signed up for eight prompts for show_goes_on, so if all goes well, by February 6th I'll have posted more stories than I did in all of 2008, and by the 13th I'll have more than doubled the count. Though, not the word count. That's gonna be hard to beat.

| You can help |
[30 Dec 2008|10:33am] |
Ganking from wordweaverlynnShe had a rainbow bumper sticker on her car. So four thugs battered, robbed, and raped her. In the San Francisco Bay Area. Richmond police Lt. Mark Gagan said, "The level of trauma ā physical and emotional ā this victim has suffered is extreme."
Now she, her partner, and their 8-year-old daughter need a car and help to move house. I can completely understand why she would want to move. The rapists have her wallet and address.
You can help. Some good people set up a PayPal fund to help her. The PayPal button is at the top of the right-hand column. You can also make checks payable to "Community Violence Solutions." In the memo portion of the check, please write "Richmond Jane Doe." Mail checks to:
Attention: Ms. Jo Ann Douglas Community Violence Solutions 2101 Van Ness Street San Pablo, CA 94806
Local SF People: The areas they are looking in are El Cerrito, El Sobrante, Hercules, Pinole, and San Pablo, if anyone has a 2 bedroom rental (maximum $1000/ mo) or knows someone who does please leave a comment at this link.
ALSO:
The Richmond Police Department are reporting that according to a witness, there were two cars parked in the area at the time our sister was attacked, the information is as follows:
A Red (or maroon) General Motors (possibly a Buick) Car with 4BBN ??? license plate
A Gray Mazda or Honda Car with 2wd ??? license plate
If you see either of these vehicles, please notify Lt. Mark Gagen at (510) 621-1212 X 7012 or Detective Yesenia Rogers at (510) 672-1718. I'm not going to comment, because anything I could say would either be dishonest or would scare the fuck out of people who know me. I'm just going to click the link to donate, and pray that the woman and her family can somehow recover from this.

* I has port wine, wooo!
* Today was very slow at work, which, okay, yes, twiddling thumbs, but hey, nothing caught on fire while I was gone! There were no emergencies, yay!
* Surround sound is still awesomecakes.
* Nice dinner tonight. I did the thing with spinach and walnuts again, and made whole wheat pasta with pesto, and am feeling very pleased with myself. AND the kitchen is (mostly) clean. The folks get home tonight, so maybe tomorrow I'll try making something nice for them for dinner. :)

I came back to work to a total of 25 emails, most of which had nothing to do with me, and one voice mail.
That's... that's. Unheard of. I was gone a week! A WEEK! I've been out for two days and come back to 120 emails, what's this shit?!
I don't know what to do with myself.
Oh, and I brilliantly had Bojangles for lunch, and now I just want to sleeeeeeeep, omg I can barely keep my eyes open.

* There's a show on National Geographic right now about the rehabilitation of Michael Vick's dogs. So, on the one hand it's not happy because of what was done to these dogs -- and is still being done to so many others. But on the other hand, it's awesome to see how much care these folks are taking to try to rehabilitate the animals. And the dogs themselves are awesome. So lovely, so sweet. It makes me want a dog even more.
* I'm in my pyjamas and my awesome new bathrobe. They were having a sale at Restoration Hardware, and I got a Turkish cotton terrycloth robe in this gorgeous true red. It actually fits. It's the first robe I've owned in years that was neither too big nor too small. **\o/**
* I've written a little more on my Lorne/Teyla -- it's not much, but I feel pretty good about it.
* DOGS!

* I've written 581 words of my first show_goes_on prompt: Teyla/Lorne, lately we've been living here uninjured. Feel like writing some non-McShep SGA? Go here and choose a prompt! Each one can be claimed by as many people who want to claim it, so don't be shy!
* Last night I sauteed spinach with walnuts and a sprinkle of parmesan cheese to go with the leftover chicken, and it was very nice.
Did you get that? I used a skillet! With spinach! Guys, this is actually cooking! *beams*
* I has an SGA/SPN crossover bunneh, but I keep being distracted by the idea of Methos being amused by Dean's cockiness and then finally losing patience and scruffing him and... well.
So it's possible I'll write that at some point, too. :)

So, I've seen so many folks doing this "daily happiness" thing for so long, and I've toyed with the idea of it but I can't really be trusted to post every day. But it still seems like a good idea, and I figure today's as good a day as any to start, especially given all the happy. So I'm going to try.
( Happiness under the cut )
Today I think I'm going to shower and then go to the bank and then Starbucks and then possibly come back here and write. Or make something. Or watch television.
It doesn't matter! I can do what I want, because I am ALONE!! *does the dance of Rachel-time*
