Currently playing the undubbed version of Suikoden: Tierkreis, and I'm having so much fun with it it's ridiculous. I don't think there ever was a game wherein I actively like 90% of the characters and are okay on the rest. Aand, Paku Romi!

Also, I'm developing a weakness for male tsundere types. :/ Where did that come from.

I wonder if that'd make me like the game. I haven't picked it up since I last played it with have no desire to do so and I think a lot of it IS cause the dubbing quality (as in sound) is really poor and for some reason, a lot of the VAs SPEAKREALLYFAST which is even more annoying than actual bad acting.

The Japanese dubbing is pretty good, imo (Paku Romi! Suzuken! Sakamoto Maaya!). I have no idea about the English dubbing, but I heard it sucked from several people. :/

But I think the characters make up for it? Mostly? I'm shallow and I crack up at the first sign of unintentional (or intentional) gay undertones, so I guess it depends on the person playing. Also, watching the characters interact is pretty amusing.

Well, I couldn't even get into the charas (in how far I've gotten) cause I kept frantically pounding the "next" key on the dialogue cause the VAing was just really ... awful. And there was NO WAY TO TURN IT OFF.

An undubbed one wouldn't do me any good cause my frustration over not being able to understand the game would overcome any need to actually like it. =(

lol wut

It's a hack, yeah. But you need a flash card to play it.

That... would require me to upgrade from the very old 1st model DS I currently own, wouldn't it? ^^;;;

(Although I've been thinking about getting a new DS cause OMG BRIGHTER SCREEN. Just not sure if I should go DSi or DSLite...)

No? R4's run on DS and DSlites, and there are newer versions for the DSi. If you're interested in finishing Suikoden though, I have a painfully biased, somewhat spoilery, fujoshi-tastic review.

IT DEPENDS? DSi has a camera and a bigger screen, but no GBA slot, but if you have a gba it shouldn't be a problem. Also the battery life is shorter, apparently. But you get to download a lot of stuff on it through the Nintendo site. A DSlite's a bit cheaper, but it really depends. :'D I'm still waiting for SHINY NEW COLORS! for the DSi (even if my DSlite has seen better days, sob, it looks like I've already stomped on it several times).

... oh, do those go into the DS game slot instead of the game???

I still have my (non-bright screen orz) GBA and will probably still keep my original DS (also with no bright screen orz)...

Downloading... isn't really a possibility for me... I do like the DSi cause it's a bit smaller and lighter as my biggest problem with the original DS isn't so much the screen but that it's so big and heavy and that really screws up my screwed up wrists. =(

LOL, I think they're releasing a purple one! At least that's what I saw at the Nintendo conference. WITH HANNAH MONTANA!!!

Yes! It's like a game cartridge, except there's a slot where you put a microSD card for the games.

Oh :< if you can, you should try though! Free purikura programs and drawing programs and all that. And it can play music, iirc.

LOL it's not like I have access to it though :'D *lives far, far away from the US* I'll wait until they get a green one. or something.
