Last September 26, typhoon Ondoy (international codename: Ketsana) ravaged the Philippines, more specifically the central area near the capital Metro Manila.

Personally I haven't been affected because I live pretty much on top of a hill and nearly isolated, but several people I know got their houses flooded in and destroyed and several hundred thousand people are stranded.
