So today, I thought I had the day from hell today: 1. Lost $30 metrocard 2. Got a shitty schedule 3. Worked for 10 hours in the federal building with no access to internet 4. I couldn't RP
I got home and find out that LJ might close, except not. I'll be here until LJ is, but in case you want to find me elsewhere Titti at IJ, Titti at JF, Titti at CJ and Titti at Inksome. I also have a MySpace, Facebook, and Vox, oh and one of those Twitter thingise, but they have never been used. Finally you can put all of your links at The Directorium
Then I thought about things that happen the world: 1. People are dying in Gaza 2. I've seen about 10 people detained by immigration today, including one of my clients, a woman with 2 US children and a husband, because she had tried to enter in the US back in 1997. 3. People are losing their jobs
Suddenly my problems don't seem so bad

GOVERNMENT TO OFFER TRAINING TO HELP LONG-TERM EMPLOYED BACK ON THE DOLE The government has today launched its new Train in Vain programme, an ambitious project to move millions of long-term employed Britons onto the dole.
Work and Pensions Secretary James Purnell said: 'High numbers of the UK workforce haven't set foot in a jobcentre in over a decade, and many of the forms are now a completely different colour.'
The move is expected to save the jobs of up to 3000 Jobcentreplus workers, who had been hit hard by several years of unrelenting prosperity.
Wendy Cross, Operations Director of Jobcentreplus said:
'This is a real shot in the arm for Britain's minor functionaries. Nothing was getting people in the door - we tried coffee bars, soft furnishings and even just giving the money to anyone who turned up with their arm in a cast. The new programme means we can look in detail at the career aspirations of people who have recently been in work, then offer them the first thing that comes along, because otherwise we stop their money. We're going to get the country moving.'
The government has also promised to tackle barriers to unemployment by ensuring the widest range of people are out of work.
'For many years the system has favoured the workshy, the low skilled and lone parents,' argues Cross, 'but finally we have opened up the benefits network to investment bankers, airline pilots and lawyers. If the government continues to steer the same economic course then I think it's safe to say that Britain will end up with one of the most highly skilled unemployed workforces in Europe, if not the world.'
Good news for benefit claimants
In a shock move designed to alleviate some of the worry that these uncertain times provoke, the government has announced that anyone losing their job due to the current financial crisis can take part in a new scheme. Any newly unemployed person who can find a Jobcentre that is open, and manages to make an appointment to see somebody will be entered into a free draw for the chance of their claim being looked at within 8 weeks. Terms and conditions will apply, and these will be announced at a later date.
Swap-around benefit reforms 'will halve claims'
The government has also announced changes to the benefit system which will halve the number of claims and double the efficiency of the system, a DWP spokesperson announced today.
"Basically, what we are proposing is that claimants come into the Jobcentreplus office, undergo a Work Focused Interview, and then swap round to the other side of the desk. The newly unemployed jobcentreplus staff-member will then come in and undergo a Work Focused Interview. They then swap round to the other side, and so on, until someone has to go home and feed the kids."

| Subject: | So Transfan, I Herd U Liek Pedo Bear? |
| Security: | Public |
Transformers comic book fandom wank.. Early this morning, it was about pedophilia.
My doppelgänger from the IDW fan forum Skwege learned that he had been accused of having sex with children by the IDW forum fantards on Transfans.net. Sprunkner is a real internet tough guy. Unfortunately, he made it quite easy to find his dox.
Skwege was not happy to find he'd been slandered as a pedo. So he calls (yes, as in calls Sprunkner's landline) to tell him to take it down. No yelling, just something along the lines of "call me whatever you want but accusing me of child fucking is not cool."
What does Spencer (Sprunkner's IRL name) do? He freaks out and hangs up!
That's right-he's a coward. So Skwege leaves him a voicemail:
"Hi Spencer :
You like to make libelous accusations about people having sex with kids? That is really grown up of you. Oh wow, you live in Washington State as well? What a coincidence! Bellingham is only an hour from here.
It's not funny! I know little punks like you think they can run around all anonymous on the internet and think nothing can bite them in their ass. However let me tell you little man, you are going to retract your statement, and then apologize. Talking shit about someone is one thing, but making a disgusting and FOUL comment like that is libelous. I have the time, money, resources, and most importantly the fucking patience to see this through so don't toy with me little man."
Then Sprunkner has his wife (yes, someone actually agreed to marry him) respond. He doesn't have the balls to answer Skwege himself-he makes his wife call him back and tell him not to call. Unfortunately, Spencer posted her phone number and email as his contact information.
Some PMs get exchanged on the IDW forum and Sprunkner accuses Skwege of threatening him (although I doubt the police consider being asked to take down a post or telling someone you're suing them for slander are violations of any particular laws). He makes an announcement on Transfans.net, crying that Skwege is harassing his family and that he called the po-po on him.
Sprunkner did call the police and they in turn contact Skwege.
The result? The police are highly pissed off-at Sprunkner. Because this is much ado about comic books.
All this name calling and wank is over whether or not the comic book series All Hail Megatron is in continuity.
The police were not too happy about being called to mediate a dispute over Starscream's alt mode.
They lecture Sprunkner and felt Skwege was somewhat justified. Skwege apologizes for dragging the wife into the mess because being accused of fucking children is serious business that involves the IRL banhammer.
The wank continues on Tranfan.net where Sprunkner whines some more (I guess his wife made him sleep on the couch) and Skwege threatens to post a scan of the police report.
These fine examples of male adulthood continue to fight about giant robots. I believe Sprunkner's wife summed it up succinctly in an email to Skwege: "This is a fight over made up robots-let it go."
Unfortunately, everyone ignores her.
Edit: I accept this is total fail. Need more recipes and fail macros, please.

I just found out that one of my childhood friends was murdered two days ago. He and his older brother moved away when we were still just kids, but our families kept in touch. His brother was just in town this summer, visiting for a few days. I found out from my mom that the neighborhood association where he lived had turned off the streetlights and let go the guard who used to patrol the neighborhood at night because people were not paying their association dues. Since then, several cars have been broken into, and now this. They took his laptop and cell phone; he had nothing else.

4 strips thick-cut bacon, trimmed of excess fat 1/2 head cabbage, rough-chopped salt and fresh-ground pepper to taste
Chop the trimmed bacon and separate into pieces. In large sautee pan or wok, heat bacon until grease from bacon coats pan. Add rough-chopped cabbage, sautee, stirring frequently, until bacon done and cabbage just going soft. Add salt and fresh-ground pepper to taste, stir in, turn off heat and serve. Can be served as is, or over rice (basmati is best). Enjoy!

I'm not going to finish all of Out Of Bounds today.
Most of it.
But not all of it.
I have roughly six scenes (with ongoing expansions....) left to write. Vacation's over tomorrow, had family stuff last night. Came home exhausted and distracted (that's family for you). Got edits but no core writing done afterward.
Looks like I'll be working on the last of Out Of Bounds through this coming week.
For those who are curious... ( the names and standings of John's competitors at Nationals, because, yes, I am that anal. )

| Subject: | HP rec: Until We Meet Again, by Hollycomb (Harry/Teddy) |
| Security: | Public |
Until We Meet Again: part 1, part 2, by Hollycomb ## Harry/Teddy, NC-17, novella. Summary: Harry Potter, now considered a dangerous loner by Wizarding society, has financially provided for Teddy Lupin for the boy's entire life. Emotionally, however, he has been completely unavailable, until the summer before Teddy's final year at Hogwarts, when Teddy finally connects with his remote benefactor. Warnings: EWE.
This is my absolutely favourite next gen fic now. Yes, I do realise that this is not the first time I said it. I know I said something like this two times about another fic of Hollycomb's, too. And it will happen again in the future. But for now, this is how much in love I am with this story. Terribly in love. This is, like, my ideal next gen crossgen fic. Right after finishing it, I thought that I wished I had read it in the fest while it had been anon and become all excited about an unknown new author. But then I thought, no way I wouldn't recognise Hollycomb's writing. Nobody writes post-war and next gen fics as she does. In one word... well, I nearly said 'unhappy' but that's not true. I can't find a one-word definition. I think I can't find a three-word one either. Hollycomb's future is usually less than happy, or not ideal. Or not as ideal or fictionalised as we are used to seeing in HP fics featuring epilogue generation. Her characters are a bit (or not a bit) broken, a bit (or a lot) fucked-up, and that and the tone of her writing made the stories sound very real. But that doesn't make them unhappy.
Harry lives in a large mansion in Northumberland. Alone. With only Kreacher for assistance. Well, basically, Teddy lives there too, only he's in Hogwarts all year long and when he isn't, Harry is barely ever home, travelling on some mysterious and vaguely sinister business of his. They aren't family. They aren't even close because Harry doesn't let anyone close to himself. And it's not that Teddy minds. Only then he does, sort of. I loved how Harry always seemed larger than life to Teddy and how the author underlines it with his physical description: how large his hands or his clothes are for Teddy. I also absolutely loved details. This is what always works best for me. My mind needs something to catch, to visualise and remember: what Teddy picks off Harry's plate and how he does it (and that scene at all), the owl that delivers Harry's last letter and how it's introduced, how Teddy tries to envision his domestic future, and many more. I would love to say more but I'm still pretty overwhelmed and very, very happy that I've read this story. Run, don't walk!

Okay. I've got everything written except the skating scenes themselves.
Of course, those are the hard parts. Including John's long program.
Oh, God.
Whatever possessed me to suggest dinner with WG's niece tonight? Oh well. It's been slated since before Christmas.

The Beat That My Heart Skipped (Sounded Like This), by Livia # Dorian/Klaus, PG-13, 4600 words. "You'd think a queer like you wouldn't care to use blackmail as much as you do," Klaus remarked.
I had to go and look what other Eroica fics this author wrote after this year Ylutide's one (see rec here). How did I miss the last year's? This story was harsher than most Eroica fics I've read and I liked it, especially that Livia didn't make it in any way melodramatic or even pointlessly dramatic. It explores a what if: what if Klaus really secretly wanted Eroica but couldn't cave in to his advances because of Eroica's own nature that makes him a pretty ruthless individual for whom nothing is too low if it makes him closer to his goals? The story is very vivid. I enjoyed it a lot.

This year I have stuff to do. And I hope to be able to do them.
Among the bloggy things ... 'm here to read, and comment, neither of which is an obligation. I'm also not very inclined to keep a daily diary, and I don't do so. Also, I prefer to avoid pandering to egos, which means I shall try to be regular in updating my filters so that I, according to my choice, read those which remain connected (my two way filter). I shall also check the one way filter I have (containing those I still have friended) and throw out that I consider trash as I don't pander to egos. I've always thought (and still think) it tacky to have a 'friending policy' hanging up there somewhere or posting like wannabe prima donnas made of fail - 'those who want to stay on, comment here', but the basic fact is, I don't disconnect first. Once I'm disconnected with, though, what I do with the connection from my end is entirely my affair, and that's for eternity.
Events have happened since I came into blogs which have too often hindered me commenting as often as I would like. However, I don't read the blogs I connect to only as reading material. I do not choose to connect to those I am not favourably impressed by. These are people writing the stuff, and there are times when what I read makes me feel things which stop me from commenting because it would be impossible to convey in mere words what I feel in response.
I realise that the people who have friended me know precious little about that which is real-life-me, and should any one wish to know more than I feel like posting in public fora such as blogs, just ask. I say this because sometimes I get terribly curious about the people I am reading about and talking to and feel like asking. Sometimes I even give in to temptation and ask, and am answered - which gives me a guilty twinge everytime I do not say things.
I have also, inspite of reading fanficcie stuffs, written next to nothing much in the fanficcie ways ... And I'm not too good with requests and all. Another source of guilty twinges there. Could be that attention deficit thingy. Not sure, though. However, I had started writing a DW fanfic, with Vetinari, of course ... I wonder if anyone would like to read that sort of stuff should I finish and post it. If anyone would, then I shall put in an open post.
Apart from that, there's cricket, of course. An occasionally pleasant distraction from the mess that is everything ... But then there are so many messes in it too ... Oh well, looking forward to the next lot of matches, then.
Also, Virender Sehwag ROX. About this I shall yield to no one and nothing ! Ever !!
And while Graeme Smith is a stuffy annoying twit, I must admit he's the best comic relief (for me) I've seen in cricket since David Gower. The big difference is, David's extremely intelligent and does it all deliberately and with malice aforethought Naughty Naughty ! Graeme Smith, however, does it effortlessly and without the application of any sort of thought process whatsoever. Bravo, Graeme ! Only thing is, this is really not a good time to run home, is it now ? I just hope no one ever cottons on to his silly childish little games XD
PotC, of course, raises it's head again, what with TV runs going on at these year-end-times ... the films are fine. Great, actually. Oddly though, I like Matt Damon films better. Depp stuff is too sweet. I'd also love to see more Salma Hayek stuff. Let's see if I ever get round to it.
And Finally, Alan Rickman is GOD ! Any issues with that, God ? ... ... Hmm, I thought not :)
