help please? [14 Jan 2008|09:21am]
[ mood | Useless ]

How the hell do I post to JF and make my img src tags show up as images and not raw html?  Likewise LJ-cut.  I've tried the rich text option and the html option on the post an entry page but both give me the same thing--raw links instead of a proper cut and images.

I really hate feeling this stupid.

ETA: apparently the lj-cut generator thingie did work after all.  It just looked like it didn't.  But still no images. :(

my thoughts on lolmeme, let me show you them [31 Aug 2007|08:02am]
[ mood | *thud* ]
[ music | Daly City Train - Rancid ]

Not that I think it matters much or that anyone cares, but I am not, in fact, on the meme. I only mention it now because following links yesterday I ended up at the lol_meme wiki (which I looked at with some interest because it was finally a chance to find out what the hell people are talking about) and saw my name listed there as well.

I don't actually care one way or the other about the meme itself or the people on it. I don't have time to read it even if I wanted to, but if other people are having fun then okay.

I did post here about being tickled by the panda porn on Aja's memes, so I guess that's where someone got the idea that I followed the whole thing to lol_meme. But again, not so much.

I have nothing to say about the current kerfuffle. Which is just as well because as usual I'd be about a week late jumping on that bandwagon.

So in an effort to make up for being so very boring here's some pictures of pretty people )

THE RULES:
1. Leave me a comment saying anything random, like your favourite lyric to your current favourite song. Or your favourite kind of sandwich. Or your favourite breed of tropical fish/kind of bug/breed of dog. Something random. Whatever you like.
2. I respond by asking you five personal questions so I can get to know you better.
3. Update your JF with the answers to the questions.
4. Include this explanation and offer to ask someone else in the post.
5. When others comment asking to be asked, you will ask them five questions

[ mood | mildly regretful ]

Catching up on the 8 or 9 pages of anonmeme that happened while I was sleeping. I am so sad that I missed this Gilmore Girls thread. I think this poster is a person after my own heart, except that I hated Jess.

ETA: And in an effort to be more outgoing, I commented on fandom_discuss for the first time. Naturally, it would be a porny subject that makes me speak up. *rolls eyes at self*

ETA2: Nooooo! I also missed Stargate: Pandalantis. Whoever wrote that is my new personal hero.

i need help... [18 Aug 2006|08:51am]
[ mood | confused ]

I knew I hadn't updated in a long time but I didn't realize it had been more than a year. Wow. I should probably try to update more often. I think I worried about boring people or something. Which, you know, sucks but whatever dude.

The real reason I'm here is that there was some trouble with the system a couple years ago that required me to change the layout of my journal if I wanted to be able to access it. Now, I want to change it again--nothing fancy, just basic generator or something--but I can't figure out how to do it. Modify Journal gives me nothing but an option to pick a moodtheme and a link to creating a style. I've tried using the create/modify style pages but I'm pretty much instantly confused since it's all way over my head. I just want to be able to check a box and change the style without knowing what all the coding is for.

Can someone take this dumb girl by the hand and lead me to where I need to be to accomplish this should-be-ridiculously-simple task?

why are we here [21 Jan 2005|08:44am]
[ mood | amused ]
[ music | Meaning of Life - Monty Python ]

I lurk no-mail on some mailing lists just so I can pop in occasionally to see what the idiots are up to and go back and revisit particularly amusing WTF/wanky behavior. So I was doing that this morning when I came across something that never fails to crack me up. In the middle of a discussion that may or may not be a bit heated, somebody comes along and posts their opinion--the mildest doesn't-really-disagree-with-anyone nothing-to-get-offended-over opinion you can possibly imagine--and then signs off with some statement about how they desperately hope they haven't pissed everybody off and they'll just go back to their corner like a good little whipped puppy.

The fuck is that about? It's both amusing and baffling. An opinion is just an opinion. If somebody disagrees with it, well...so? They have a different opinion. You can decide theirs is a stupid opinion and they're just an asshat, and you could be right. But then they could say the same about you and also be right, from their perspective. But if you're going to acknowledge/assume that your opinion is in some way controversial, at least, you know, make it so.

Yeah, sometimes I really sort of hate people, but mostly it's like this and I just find them awfully damned amusing.

Also, this icon is somewhat ironic because I really don't piss people off (that I know of, anyway. maybe people hate me in secret yet never find the anonymemes to say so. if so, they're selfish bastards, I tell you what.). Well, there was that one chick in a mostly former fandom but she was pretty unbalanced anyway. I'd be willing to if I wanted to, it just very seldom comes up. heh.

who needs frackin' LJ anyway [15 Jan 2005|04:05pm]
[ mood | Caffeinated ]
[ music | gunfire from Halo on the TV ]

It's been two months since I posted here and it took LJ dying to get me to do it? Lame. I should use this journal more often.

So, last night was the premiere of Battlestar Galactica for those of us in the US, who didn't download it off the internet. I don't know why I didn't since I've been downloading Stargate Atlantis like a crazy obsessed thing and OMGNEWEPISODEONMONDAYSQUEE. Well, I do know why. It's because it takes me so long to download anything. I start downloading SGA on Monday night as soon as the torrent goes up and I get to watch it on Wednesday morning. One of these days they'll either offer DSL out here (or whatever the fastest shiny new thing is) or we'll get a cable modem, and my head will explode from the excitement of being able to download stuff so quickly.

Part of that above paragraph sums up my fannish existence lately. It all comes back to Atlantis.

Anyway. BSG in point form:
--I like it better as a series than I did as a miniseries, if that makes sense.
--I hope Callum Keith Rennie shows up again.
--I really dig Starbuck as a girl.
--I will really hate it when they "show her softer side" as they promised in the Lowdown. I want her to be tough and butch and all that stuff. It's cool.
--Archie Kennedy Jamie Bamber. umm...I got nothing to say except yes please. Give me some of that.
--And anything else I might say would be spoilery so I'll stop there so I don't have to cut away.

I should go upload some more icons over here. If I'm going to use it more often, I need all my John Sheppard icons, not just a handful. heh.

Uh-oh.
You are Snacky! You are obsessed with high calorie,
low health food that make everyone who loves
you fat and ugly. You do this on purpose so you
won't stand out. You made up some
"law" a while back that gets quoted
now and then, and the fame has gone to your
head. You are just nice to people's faces and
rip them to shreds behind their backs, though
your razor wit has grown dull from overuse.

new story [26 Oct 2004|01:47pm]
[ mood | Caffeinated ]

Title: Permeation
Fandom: Yu Yu Hakusho
Pairing: Kurama/Hiei
Rating: NC-17
genre: sort of hurt/comfort
disclaimer/notes: Not my characters, no profit made. I haven't actually read and retained enough YYH fic to know if this is completely cliche-ridden, but then I don't care much either. This is what happens when I write "totally for myself". heh. Takes place during The Dark Tournament after Hiei unleashed the Dragon of Darkness Flame and during the team's break. Make sense? Yeah, I'd look up episode numbers and titles, but I don't have that season on DVD and I'm lazy and many other perfectly lame excuses.
Thanks to lj user= mer1973 for beta. Comments welcome as always.

Anybody know of any other good bit torrent sites besides suprnova.org? I'm looking specifically for somewhere to download some eps of Century City, Without a Trace, Birds of Prey, and more CSI: Miami* than suprnova has.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

*Not that I actually like CSI: Miami. I just want one episode, in which I hope I can ignore Caruso.

[ mood | busy ]

I put up some black and white icon bases here and here in my livejournal for anyone who wants them. The first batch is all actors and the second batch is mostly actors with a few nonactors thrown in just because the original pics appealed to me.

Since they are just bases, I don't require credit and you are welcome to add whatever you want to them. A comment would be nice though. :-)

Rating: NC-17 (or P for Porn ;-)
Disclaimer: They are so not mine, and that's okay.
Notes: Thanks to lj user chrismm for looking over this for me. Don't look for a plot here. This piece exists solely because my other Tremors fic was all completely NP (No Porn) and lj user alexandriabrown and I had fun discussions about Burt and his possible proclivities. heh.
Comments are welcome, as always.

Tyler ran his hand over the old iron bedstead, the white paint cool and smooth under his fingers. The puffy comforter--and where had Burt found one in desert camouflage? )

not wank but on crack [01 Sep 2004|07:09am]
[ music | The Loved Ones - Elvis Costello ]

I think the LupinXSnape relationship could very well be true.

umm... yeah. I love the pairing but I don't see it ever happening in canon unless JKR dies (or has a psychotic episode) tomorrow and a fan takes over finishing the series (which would never happen in a million years anyway). And my luck, it'd be a Snape/Harry or Snape/Hermione shipper instead. *snerk.

My favorite of her "compelling arguments" may be: When it comes to homosexuality in Harry Potter, it actually wouldn't be that farfetched. I mean, the book is already Satan's Bible, and over the last issues it has become somewhat more abrasive and adult-oriented, and homosexuality is becoming quite open socially these days.

Satan's Bible? WTF, dude?

And then she whips out the immortal and ever delightful: Personally, I don't see how anyone could be stupid enough not to see it.

ahhahahahahahahaha! I can't wait for someone to take offense to that one. Could be some fun reading ahead.
