January: GIP. New default. Note: I'm pretty sure that this was kitty!Ed.

February: Okay, so I'm thinking about Kingdom Hearts and the Destiny Islands and am trying to decide what sort of equivalent geographic space I think works for it. Rather, I want to figure out what plants/animals are likely and so I'm tossing this out: I've been working so far on the West Indies as an equivalent area, but does anyone have anywhere they think might be a better equivalent?

March: Watching one of those home de-cluttering shows and the woman says, "If you haven't (read a book) for five years, you aren't going to read it again." My thought in response was, "You, woman, are not a reader." Though I suppose this is a major point for people who try to get rid of clutter but are bibliophiles. I mean, I have books I haven't read for five years that I nonetheless want to keep. Many books.

April: For those who want to know what Axel said in that scene right before the last dungeon. THE SCENE IS SPOILERY, THOUGH THIS BIT ISN'T, REALLY. This is for comparison to the Japanese version. Hightlight here:

( EDIT: And now I'm defying you bastards and your style=mine hearts. Behind the cut. Again, MEG, YOU DON'T WANT TO SPOIL YOURSELF ON THIS, TRUST ME, IT'S WORTH WAITING FOR. )

May: Re: Ouran High Host Club: I have to read the manga, too, but wow, I like the girl two seconds into it. And, uh, I don't know what it is with shows these days, but I'm loving the theme sequences. I admit I'm one of the odd people who will tend to watch them for about half the series, so a good theme sequence means a lot.

YASHA WAS RIGHT. NOKORU GAVE UP DETECTING AND OPENED A HOST CLUB. ...WITH THE WEASLEY TWINS.

...I think perhaps the saddest part is that I could see Nokoru arguing that this made the ladies happy, too. Guh. Though, you know, all explanations aside, putting that vase where it was was just asking for trouble. I mean, at least put a freaking case around it, Tama-chan.

...and, because I'm bored and don't use my icons enough, here's Xemnas for y'all.

June: I'm going to say that it's a bad sign when your nose stuffs up and your eyes itch just from sitting next to a window. -_- Allergies.

July: Holy. That was awesome. GO ITALY. But also, dude, kudos to the German team. Those guys were really amazing and I sort of feel bad that it had to be one or the other of these teams.

(For those of you not following the World Cup, Italy got in two goals within the last two minutes of overtime of the game. Particularly notable because Germany has never won against Italy in a World Cup match and yet Germany had never lost on the Dortland field.)

August: Okay, to explain: Xigbar likes to tell tall tales. The other one, in fact, is about how Xigbar's face got scarred. This one is about how Ienzo was a porn star and is, in fact, <s>a lie</s> not canon to RR, but it demonstrates the style. (Fic follows.)

September: Happy 9/2 everyone! In honor of the death of Bohemia the beginning of September, I am accepting drabble requests, the only specification for which being that

1. You may request only one, and

2. It must involve Demyx.

That said...

When Xigbar and Demyx wanted to be terribly obnoxious, they talked the Superior into poetry recitals. They didn't have contests so much any longer, mostly because the Superior got shirty when people did not appreciate the beauty of epic poetry (though the discovery that Saix had a talent for writing a good villanelle, Xigbar maintained, made it so totally worth it.) Axel had won the dirty sonnet competition, though everyone admitted that Larxene and Xaldin had both come very close, and Xigbar seemed to have a strange sort of affinity for performance poetry. On the balance, recitals tended to go for a couple days, and because by the second day Luxord, a modern Aristophanes, was practicing his limericks in the back of the room, a good time was had by all.

...No, I don't know either.

October: Title: We are out of: Tea and Sympathy (also cake)
Warnings: Spoilers for KH2
Characters: Luxord, Lexaeus
Notes: From the 31_days theme (for yesterday): Coffee and a Kick in the Pants.
Summary: Lexaeus takes Luxord on one of his first training missions; Luxord is not sure he likes this system of testing.
(Fic follows)

November: Oh god, it's here. How will I ever get any work done again?

December: Zuko, you FUCKHEAD. I don't consider that she's writing for other people; if she's not interested in writing something, she doesn't have any obligation to finish it.
Okay, so my recent posts have been boring and this isn't likely to get less so, but on the other hand, people I don't have friended can see this one, so! Uh, yeah, I'm getting into the habit of f-locking things that are non-fandom, so, uh, if you want to see stuff, speak up, etc. Not that I really know who a third or so of the people who have me friended are, but one supposes that that happens.

(I am sort of odd about my friending policy in that if I am interested in you/your fic/if you're Just That Cool I'll probably want to friend you but tend to be lazy about it. Or you're cfud, in which case it's not so much laziness as a disinclination to be inundated.)

I am highly amused that Rui likes Ouran, but I did tell her so. This is mostly because I feel that everyone should like Ouran, because it's striking a really neat balance in terms of the way it does things. I am also highly amused that Atobe and Ryouma from LG-verse are the cutest. Couple. Ever. But in a really weird way. Yes, Genie, Hana, we will be posting when we finish. Rui and I are still sort of boggling and saying, "It works! How does it work? But it does!" Eventually I'm sure Ryouma and Atobe will have a conversation that isn't snarking at each other, but...

In other news, I'm poking at writing-ness again, but not sure what kind.
If it's not "racism" what is it?

Darkrose has an entry here that articulates my feelings on the issue of calling the Death Eaters "racist" perfectly.

Though I would add my fun bit on alleles. Everyone who bothers with my lj will likely have seen this commentary already, but remember how JK Rowling said that the genetic component for wizarding was dominant? If it is, it could work like blood groups. (One will add that there are more, rarer blood types than AB-, and this commentary mostly applies to people who fall into the more common ABO range of blood types. Also, one will condition this with the comment that the "most/least" generalizations given apply better to the US than the world population. And, finally, one will add that while we wish blood groups were this straightforward, they're not, really.)

In many places in the world, though it is particularly prevalent in the Americas, the O blood type has a plurality in the population. However, O is the non-dominant trait. A and B in terms of blood group are dominant - if one recieves A from one parent and O from another, they will have group A blood. If one recieves B from one parent and O from another, they will have group B blood. One only gets O blood in the absence of A and B, and yet in the US it is the most common blood group. Moreover, in the US, the rarest common blood group is AB, which occurs when one has both the alleles for A and for B blood - A and B are referred to as "codominant" which means that they exist simultaneously with neither having dominance over the other.

On the other hand, AB tends to be the rarer kind of blood. Now, it might make sense for A to be the largest group, or B, wouldn't it? But the most common blood group in the US is O, the nondominant allele. Which occurence means that Jo's comments on wizarding being dominant are possibly true, given how genetics works.

Title: Found
Series: D.Gray-man
Rating: All Audiences
Warnings: Nn...probably spoilers, since we don't get a more detailed view of Allen's past until later.
Summary: Cross finds Allen.
Notes: I don't doubt that we'll eventually get to see this meeting in the manga, but.

Allen wanders blindly, wondering where he should go. Where he /can/ go, now that Mana is dead, and he's no longer just deformed, but cursed. Mana told him to fight, didn't he? But right now he's not sure what he fought for. Mana was dead and he'd killed him again, because it was the right thing to do. But his heart doesn't believe that.

Allen presses a hand to his chest - his right hand, his whole hand, the hand that hadn't taken Mana's life the second time. It feels like something is burning in his chest and he thinks it must be his heart, crying on its own, crying about loneliness and wondering where to go.

He's not paying attention when a shadow follows over him, only noticing that he has company when the man with the eccentric hair, the out of place hat, and the disconcerting mask leans down to him. "Hey, kid," the man says. "What are you doing here by yourself?"

Allen looks up at the man wonderingly. He'd thought, the way people passed him by, that he might be as invisible as he'd felt. But here, someone is talking to him and asking him... "My father is dead," he tells the man. "I don't have anyone."

The man lifts his hat a bit, stands up. Looks down the street, puffing thoughtfully. "I probably have room for a companion...if you can help pay our way, of course."

Allen shakes himself to study the man. There's something compelling, something honest and riveting about him. Well, not honest, Allen's busker nature tells him. Not with that set to his face; those people were the ones who walked away without paying. But they clapped the loudest, too.

"You've seen him, haven't you?" the man asks. "The Millenium Earl." He pauses, but Allen remains silent. "I can teach you how to fight him."

A reason...a reason to live, at least, Allen thinks. Something to keep going for. Changing what happened to Mana, to himself, is impossible. And maybe revenge is ignoble, but justice is a reason. "Okay," he says, getting up and dusting himself off.

"Come on, then," the man replies. He starts down the street again. "By the way, do you know how to play poker...?"

The crack pairing is for neko-san, because she apparently likes it best.

No one, not even the Colonel, had asked when Edward and Alphonse stopped staying in the base housing. The Colonel seems to assume that as long as he knows where they were, everything is okay, and he doesn’t question why they’d felt the need to change. Alphonse did, at first, but had merely made an amused sound when he’d realized what was going on. For his part, Ed is just glad that Al hadn’t been upset, since it had been one of his concerns.

Now, every time they come to town, Ed stops to pat the dog on the way inside before calling out to see if it was one of Liza’s rare days off. Al, of course, still called her by her title, but he tended to do so in an amused if not a sardonic tone. If she’s home, they often sit down to dinner at a small table with strong wooden chairs, lit by a yellow lamp. It’s always quiet, hushed, as if speaking too much would disturb the world, and it seems like a strange, relaxed peace exists as forks and knives clink on the plates and glitter in the yellow light.

Al doesn’t ask about the sleeping arrangements, and never did, for which the other occupants of the house are grateful. Going to bed leads to another type of silence, exhausted, breathless, and yet still infused with the same peace that came to the table. Sniping words are left for the world outside, since her specialty seems to be that silent understanding. The only disturbance here is a puppy that doesn’t know yet that he’s grown up to be a dog, but he only melts the silence into laughter.
It's more of a blurb than a fic, but.

Title: Pandora's Box

Author: Crysi

Rating: G

Warnings: SPOILERS - LOTS OF 'EM

Notes: More of a blurb than a fic - a Hao pov, because I got to thinking on
the subject.

***

There is a story, he knows, of something called Pandora's Box. The gods put
all the ills of the world into that box, and gave it to the woman Pandora, telling
her not to open it. When, in her insatiable curiousity she did, she loosed all
the evils upon the world and the golden age of humans ended.

However, one thing remained protected in the box, the most frail, and the one
thing that could yet stand against the evils. And that was hope.

There are moments when he thinks about that and wonders. But that's few and
far between, and even less apt to happen now. Everything is falling into place,
everything according to plan...well, except for the unfortunate incident with
the satellite, but luckily he can move his plans up with little effort. Soon
he'll have his dear one back, and soon he'll possess Her, too. Once he has the
Great Spirit, she won't be able to hide any longer; she won't be inaccessible,
she won't remind him of...

But that's a useless train of thought, he knows. He has the power; she, while
powerful and fascinating, can only do so much. She's not really insignificant
like the rest of them. He's thought to himself that it's dangerous to think
in such ways but...he's sure, from what he's felt from others, that she will
give in. She knows as well as he does the dark side of humanity. She might even
someday come to be enlightened as he.

But there was something...something about there being a bit of hope...He was
sure that if Matamune were around that the cat would have remembered whatever
he had forgotten. Something about his de...something about Yoh. But that wasn't
so important, he thought, because Yoh would come to him in time. Yoh would come
to his arms and see that he was right all along because what was Yoh but a part
of him? But that was...was that something else he'd forgotten?

No. Right now he had to focus on making sure all the X-LAWS were gone. Tsukigumi
were capable of taking care of Sati's team and Hanagumi were well off enough
to destroy the Five Warriors. Once Jeanne was dead all that was left was to
collect Yoh's soul...and to keep Anna from bringing anyone else back, which
would doubtless be a bit of a problem. Thankfully, as long as he had Yoh, she
wouldn't be able to protest too much. Oh, and he might as well let that Asakura
servant girl live as well...and they needed to do laundry soon. He thinks he
should start writing things down so that he can keep track of what needs to
be done.

In any case, victory was at hand, no matter what the humans tried. He just
hoped they wouldn't be annoying and force him to pay attention to them before
the proper time, because that would be vexing, of course. But that was what
he had supporters for, of course.

But that thought was nagging again...But no matter. He would have Yoh soon
and everything would be alright. Everything would be alright.

Still unable to write Loki!Poem. Stupid gods.
