I do not believe that an animal life and a human life are equal. I do, however, believe that animals should not be subject to any unnecessary pain or suffering. Their lives do have value. I am not a vegan, or even a vegetarian. I believe fur is cruel, but arguments could be made in favour of leather. In short, I am a bundle of contradictions all wrapped up in a relatively attractive package.

All of that being said, I believe that kangaroo culling is the right thing to do. There is not enough food for the current population, they will starve to death. It would be cruel to leave them suffer, when an overdose of sedatives and barbiturates would be quick and painless. On a related note, I do not agree with the killing of sharks that attack people. Actually, I'll extend that to any wild animal that attacks a person in the wild. I'm not saying the person deserves, but the animal sure as hell doesn't.
