Overwhelmed

pup decisions
Some folks have suggested it's easier to play males than females, which isn't really all that surprising. Besides, I like slash just as much as the next fangirl. And the possible challenge of playing a chick in a male/slash dominated game is certainly no turn off. I'm always up for a good challenge.

But here's what I'm thinking. I'm pretty sure I'm leaning more toward Melissa George or Dane Cook at this point. Sorry, dear Emilie. Maybe some other time. I just have a clearer vision and voice for the other two. But who to choose? Let me ask you all something. Does the pup actually being a member of the Establishment Club make a difference in any way? You've said it's easier to get a male pup off the ground, but what about a pup who's a non-member? Because if I pick Dane, then he'll more than likely start out not knowing about the Est quite yet, and I'd need some help in 'opening his eyes' if you will (anyone interested...?). But if I pick Mel, then I'm pretty sure I'd have her as a member already. GAH! I'm losing my mind. *sobs* This decision should not be this stressful, honestly. I'll probably just end up getting the other in... however many days anyway. Dammit. This is too hard.

Oh and hey, I almost forgot. If I choose Dane, then I'll have no problem with culture/hometown/slang/etc. My dad is from Boston (where Dane is from) and I spent a lot of time visiting family there. Melissa, on the other hand, is from Perth, Australia. And, yeah I know there's always Google and I always do my research, don't get me wrong. But I also think there's a lot more you can learn from talking to people who actually know the area that you'll never learn from some website on it. So any Aussies in game willing to help a poor American girl out? It would be much appreciated. ^_^

I have two pups, a boy (Lukas Rossi) and a girl (Ana Matronic). Lukas came in first and I will say that I've had a bit of an easier time finding him playmates (not that much easier, perhaps, because a good many people don't know who the hell he is :P ). However, Ana's found playmates of her own as well. (and as you said, there's no reason not to bring in pups you want to bring in! The Est needs more girls!)

The club question--it's easy to "have pups meet at the club", so that's something to consider. But the pups can always be brought into the club as well.

Hi! *waves* Here via est_meta (and I adore your layout, btw). I'm Sally, mun to Johnny Depp, Ben McKenzie, Jesse Spencer, and the shiny new Jared Padalecki. I don't have any girls in this game but my boys have played with them, and I run a girl pup in another game.

My thoughts are these:
If you're seriously considering bringing in a female pup, do NOT rule out the possibility of het scenes. As much as this is a slash-centric game, there has been quite a lot of extremely hot het in its history.
Having a pup who is not yet an Est member really doesn't pose as many problems as you might think. All the pups in the game (members or not) are on the journal system, it's just understood that "public to the Establishment" posts can only be read by pups who are Est members, whereas Est members can read everyone's posts (unless they're marked private). So it's still pretty easy to get a great dialogue going with people your pup doesn't know. In addition, so long as your pup knows pretty much a single other pup (who happens to be an Est member), you've got an in: just ping the mun of said pup, and work out a way your pup can somehow express an interest or a need, and their pup can (subtly) clue yours in about the Est. It has to be done right - no shouting from the rooftops *g* - but it can be done pretty easily.
That's my advice, use it as you like or not at all. My recommendation, on the other hand, would be to do both: First, bring in your male pup. Get acclimated. Get involved in the game and comfortable with it. Enjoy yourself. Then, once you yourself feel established ~~lol lame pun ftw~~, bring in your female pup. It'll likely be a rewarding experience either way, but easier if you bring your guy in first.

First of all, thanks for your help and advice. I really appreciate it. As I told

ladywindemere earlier, I kind just like to bounce things off people. Especially when starting a new game with rules and traditions and stuff that I'm not really familiar with yet.

Second, what you said is exactly what I decided to do. I emailed Juwel just a little while ago and hope to be getting Dane's journal soon so I can get started! Then once I get the hang of things and and once the required time is up, I will think about picking up Mel. *G*

Oh, and by the by... please, just don't mind me as I drool over your list of pups. *drooling commences*

	Just here to comment that I totally agree with Sally there above. I started by bringing in Tobey Maguire who was not a member initially, and later due to his background I decided to bring in Sigourney Weaver, my only female (my other pups are Naveen Andrews, Christian Coulson, and Brendan Frasier). 	Est Meta and Meta Spa are great resources. We're creative people. Who says your pup has to meet through the club? There are lots of opportunities out there. Hell, give Dane a blown tire on the freeway and Henry would pick him up.... then again, put Dane in an airport bathroom Henry would pick him up there too. waggles brows (Reply to this)(Thread)
