Subject: I'm always late to the game
Security: Public

I've been testing Semagic as a multi-journal posting tool essentially a week after everyone else. The benefit of this is that all the new tutorials are up! :D

It works fine for basic posts, but I haven't tried anything more elaborate. And I haven't transfered over icons so I can't test that out either. I also find it interesting that when I deleted the test posts (this is actually the third, and it's more substantive than those were), they deleted from LJ and IJ fine, but they were still at JF and GJ. Dunno why.

This is just a test of inserting pics from urls. Er, sorry for the randomness of it all. Here, have something prettier.

You knew that was coming, right? It had to happen.

And, to test every single one of my picture options.... This one is actually kind of stupid. I can't figure out if there's a way to post images *already* in one's Scrapbook to the journal(s) via Semagic. I found the upload and post option easily enough, but not the other. That could be lack of sleep talking, however.

I wonder if there will be any issue for people to see the Scrapbook images elsewhere. I think it has to do with the security settings of one's journal, but I know people have trouble viewing Scrapbook images if they aren't logged on. Which makes it interesting trying to post them elsewhere. Hm. And then there's the fact that Scrapbook's interface sucks to begin with. *sigh* I should just stick with Photobucket.

I also was looking around for tools and found this tutorial on using OpenID, which allows you to use your journal identity from one supporting site to another supporting site. So, for instance, you can use your LJ identity to leave comments in people's IJ posts and vice versa. And apparently one can set it up like a sort of semi-account where you can input an email address for comment notifications and even load up icons and set up a flist. You can even add OpenID people to your filters. Very interesting I think in these scattered times for people who don't want to maintain more than one journal, even as a reading journal.

Next thing I need to look into are migration tools for tranferring icons and perhaps back entries. I've been referring to this post for resources, incidentally. It's very useful.

ETA: Sorry, image was too big and I don't know how to get it not to wrap. Need to poke around some more. And apparently editing only works for the LJ, not for all of them. Unless there's something I'm missing, which is more than likely.
