You scored as Violet
She's quiet, reserved, and insecure, Violet is definitely out of place amongst her super powered family. However, much like you, she just needs to step out of herself and trust that she's a truly awesome person, and that people really do like her!
[One Piece] Home

Pairing:none
Rating: G
Word Count: 97
Date Finished: 3/15/08
Disclaimer: One Piece is not mine. Possible spoilers for Alabasta, so I'm tossing it behind a cut as a just in case.
Notes: Yeah, I dunno where this came from. It's been running around in my head for a couple weeks though, so I figure it's time to get it out so I can work on other things.

It felt like Alabasta once the Going Merry had sailed into the island's climate zone, warm and dry but with the sea lending a moisture to the air that it hadn't had inland for several years. And it looked like Alabasta once she could actually see the island itself. The buildings looked similar to those she had seen as a child, and the desert backdrop beyond was certainly familiar enough. But for Vivi, Alabasta didn't really become her home again until the rain fell from the sky and the rebellion ended more suddenly than it had begun.
I've discovered that episode 6 (the one with the reporter lady) of Akihabara@DEEP is my least favorite episode of the show, because I started rewatching the series months ago and got stopped there. I just...don't want to watch that episode, and only that episode. I blame the fact that I don't like the way the reporter lady portrays Page and Box and the rest (...okay, mostly Page and Box) in her report on them. I...it just hurts me to watch it. I tell myself to skip the episode and go on to the next one (not like there's plot development in that one anyway), but then I haven't really rewatched the whole thing. And that I like the idea of even less. So Akihabara@DEEP keeps sitting on my external hard drive, because I don't want to burn it off until I finish rewatching it.

So recently the main zipper on my purse decided that it had had enough of me and somehow managed to get one set of teeth out of the pull thing. Which made my purse effectively useless at keeping my wallet/checkbooks concealed. I'd mentioned this in my LJ before, but that was a month ago and nobody probably remembers. Anyway, after a few trips to department stores (bear in mind, by recently I mean, like, a month ago, 'cause part of my birthday was an IOU note from my parents regarding a new purse), some poking of appropriate websites, and one more trip to a department store by my mother, I now have a new purse. I just need to remove all the rest of the paper that's filling it and move stuff over from my old purse. I've been using a tote bag in the meantime, though, and I'm inclined to keep using it for the sake of work (I can haz novel to edit in the tote bag!).

I've been watching a lot of sentai recently, having caught up to the last batch torrent from my preferred subbers when it comes to One Piece. This means I'm going back and watching sentai series that I've seen glimpses of footage from thanks to Power Rangers. I'd finished Magiranger toward the end of last year, and now I'm swapping around between Abaranger (although this one has subtitles of dubious quality), Timeranger, and Dekaranger (depending on which one has completed downloading episodes). Also, I've spent much of today listening to music from sentai, and I'm thinking that's going to be the music I listen to while driving for a while. Because nothing else I can think of right now kicks my brain into "I can do it" mode like sentai. Or possibly One Piece music, which was the music du jour a week or so ago.

If someone can explain to me what it is with Blacksburg and hanging shoes over power lines, I'd be very grateful. Because I keep driving past a pair of aforementioned shoes (and have seen them off and on over the past several years or so) and can never figure out WHY they're up there.

I've got a few other things running around in my head right now regarding my life right now, but I need to get a few things straightened out/planned before I feel ready to post about those. Also, I'm not inclined to put them in a public post.

This has been bugging me about the Skypiea arc (the later Upper Yard bits, at any rate). Even Nami, who has had Mantra explained-only-not to her, constantly forgets that Enel & co. have the ability. Hence Nami's thought that Enel's not noticed her in the final count for his "game". The thing is, she's been hanging around with Aisa, who is known to also have the ability, and yet even having had it previously pointed out to her she forgets Enel has the Mantra ability (whatever the hell it is...). At least Sanji remembers the whole Mantra thing later...

Also, I don't particularly feel like manga-diving again for this bit of the Skypiea arc just now, but that bit where Zoro catches Robin and then goes to attack Enel? Seems strange somehow. I mean, under normal circumstances I'd write it off as another instance of "YOU HURT MY NAKAMA I KICK YOUR ASS" (Luffy's particularly fond of this...), but he makes this comment ("She's a woman!" ) and gets this look on his face that certainly suggests the you-hurt-my-nakama thing. I mean, since when has Zoro cared about that, particularly since I think he's still suspicious over Robin at this point. This is something I'd expect SANJI to react with, not Zoro. But, once I did manga-dive for it...it still makes no sense to me, although at least I know it's not an anime-only thing. I don't know, maybe it's just me missing something earlier in the arc...

An opinion I doubt I am the only one to have: Enel is a crazy bastard. I can't for the life of me figure out why he's decided that he's a god and that he should be the only one to be in the sky or whatever, but holy crap, he's crazy.

...Someone needs to stop me from thinking too hard about my anime. This isn't meta or anything, but somehow I feel like I'm thinking too hard about anime.

I kinda want a One Piece mood theme to go with the fact that I'm plowing through it as fast as I can download it.

MEME TIME!

Maybe a post concerning real life later. Meme now.

Pick a fictional character from a fandom I know and I'll answer the following questions to the best of my abilities.

1) What is your opinion of this character? If you like, explain why you like him/her. Likewise if you dislike the character.

2) Is he/she important to the general plot?

3) Can you relate to this character at all? Do they grip you emotionally?

4) How much do you like the fandom that this character comes from?

5) Do you ship this character with any other character? Or, are you particularly intrigued by their relationship with any other character(s)? (romance-wise or platonic)

6) Is there anything about the character you would change?

7) If you were in the fandom with this character or knew this character in real life, how do you see yourself interacting with him/her? (Would you get along well? Fall in love with? Dislike? Friendly rivalry? etc etc)

8) Does this character make the cut as one of your all time favorites (if you like) or least favorites?

9) Would you hype up this character (if you like) or warn about (if you dislike) to someone whose new to the fandom?

10) Is this character popular with the fanbase?
I have a warm chai tea latte from work (employee discount yay!) and have completed my first day of actual work (Christiansburg's Panera Bread is now open for business). And Mythbusters is on, and I get to watch it while in bed. Life is, for the moment, good. I'll worry about getting on with grad school applying tomorrow. Same with finishing the Christmas shopping.

As of yesterday around noon-ish, I became an official NaNoWriMo winner. I'm only a little over 50K, but the story's not finished (nor likely to be until I wander off somewhere and do some research). I'm probably going to toss another couple paragraphs in to fill in some gaps I left, but I think I'm mostly done for the month. There's going to be a lot of cleaning up to do when I get around to editing it, but that's for another time. After all, I need to select a lengthy passage of polished novel from the thesis in order to submit it to grad schools, and I have to do that before the end of December.

There's one thing I definitely don't love about this time of year: the way my hands are always very cold after I wash dishes. Stupid water...

It's meme time again! Because I'm starting to get ahead of where I need to be on my NaNo novel again.

Today's meme snagged from nanthimus (even if I didn't respond to the meme):
Leave a name of a series or fandom in a comment and I'll tell you my three favorite characters and my three least favorite characters, and I might provide reasons why. If I don't know the fandom, I'll look up wikipedia or some other side and look at the character profiles and pick my favorite three based on those.

I am feeling particularly uninterested in PoT's latest chapters. I mean, I read the summaries, and that's about it. Nationals is just feeling so lackluster these days (I think it's the fact that it is full of the wrong sort of crack). Inui Juice? That's what I consider the good kind of crack (although I still did not need to see Inui's naked ass on either occasion, kthanx). I'm glad they're finally trying to do something about the amnesia, but I can't help not really caring that much. I dunno, Nationals is just boring me and I'm very tempted to wander back to the crackier portions of the anime because THEY are still entertaining. But, uh, I'm thinking I may be series-wandering pretty soon.

On Avatar episodes...well, thanks to a user error involving the VCR, I have not seen last week's episode. I read spoilers, though, so I am at least caught up. And I'll catch it eventually, even if eventually ends up equalling when the inevitable boxset for the third season comes out and I get my hands on that. I'm being good about the next episodes, despite my impatience and sadness over them not airing until the 30th, and not downloading them. After all, what's two weeks after how many months spent waiting for season three to start?

So "just bears" are uncommon, but sheep seem to be, judging by the number of them in the field. That is, if they are just sheep and not some sort of combination. Which, it seems, they are, as they looked like they had koala ears.

Oh, panicky Aang. You're so cute.

Aang, what's with the crazy attire in your dream? I like the air shield you pulled out of nowhere. Did you really need to check that you were wearing pants, though? I mean, couldn't you have felt that?

Zuko: stopped every two seconds while on his way out in the morning. Also, when he said that thing about a prince's place and walking, I couldn't help think of the fact that Zuko must have walked practically everywhere for the entire time he was banished.

LOL at Toph popping out from behind Katara facing the wrong direction.

There seems to be a lot fewer sheep in the field the second night.

MATH TEST? OMGWTF?!

Zuko has bad memories of the war room. We all know it. Mai really should have known that.

Um...crap I got distracted and forgot what I was going to say here. Oh wait, now I remember. Flying cow that breathes fire? I really should be used to strange things like this from Avatar by now...

Sokka, why do you have a beard again? You look just fine without one.

"I don't." Yes, you do. You wouldn't be making a big deal about it if you didn't. And it probably didn't help that Mai brought up last time in the war room. Mai, your method of making Zuko feel better works no better than anything Aang's group tried. Maybe y'all should switch patients? Or just let the patients have it out between them. That would probably make them feel better. Oh wait, I know what would help Zuko: another chat with Iroh!

Aang, you're so cheesy in your daydream.

You know, I'm still suspicious of Zuko not being told about the war meeting until the last minute. But that's my paranoia, and Zuko is, at times, not paranoid in the right ways.

Aang, get some sleep. This is just getting silly. And my typing's even reflecting how much you need sleep, because I just typed sleepy instead of silly.

One question: if the invasion's tomorrow, why haven't we seen any random allies turning up? Because surely Aang and company aren't the only ones who can get somewhere early.
There's a pantry with emergency backup caffeinated beverages. You also have some breakfast cereals in there, but you haven't had breakfast since last Spring. Your master bedroom is decorated to look like the treetop village of the Galadhrim. Your study has every fantasy novel ever written, including multiple editions of the Silmarillion and advance copies of Dungeons and Dragons Fifth Edition. One of your garages holds your collection of ferraris, and is measured in acreage.

Your home also includes a roost for griffons. You've never actually seen a griffon, but you keep the roost ready anyway. Your guests enjoy your home theater with hi-def plasma screen TV, and the thrones you watch it from. Outside is the moat that protects your home from goblin invaders and extended family.

And, you have a pet -- a unicorn named "Shadowhooves".

Below is a snippet of the blueprints:

Find YOUR Dream House!

But how did it know I don't eat breakfast, like, ever?

Am I the only one who wonders what everyone else is doing while Sokka's stealing the spotlight this episode? < /random>

Yes, yes, hiding in plain sight...WAIT! Is there going to be White Lotus action in this episode?

"You've seen nothin' once, you've seen it a thousand times." Oh Toph, I heart you. But, uh, subtle you guys are not, what with the floating bubble of water.

The problem with "stay clear" orders is you need to point out just where "clear" is.

Uncle Iroh is a cunning bastard, guard. He WANTS you to think he's just a silent old man who's lost...well, I want to say pride and dignity, but that doesn't sound quite right.

...Sokka has bending envy?

*facepalms at Sokka's foolery and Aang's crazy armor* Question! Is the group moneyless again? Because they were clearly just eating in a restaurant.

*wonders just what Uncle Iroh's up to with the sit-ups*

I think we've seen a bit of that sword form before. On Kyoshi, except with fans.

...So the rest of Aang's group is having a day off, complete with lame jokes.

So Iroh keeps doing exercises, and yet I still HAVE NO CLUE AS TO WHAT HE MIGHT BE DOING.

*facepalms over Katara's bad joke* Katara, honey, that joke is old. As in I remember it in a children's show from before I was in elementary school and I'm in my twenties. Funny it is not, especially as there's shipping suggestiveness in it.

Wait, Sokka gets to make his own sword? That's kinda COOL.

I should have guessed he was going to go get the meteor thingy...although Toph's blush when Sokka came back? Cute.

Dude, Uncle got in shape!

What?! The sword guy knew Aang

"You need a better cover name. Try Li." I die. I die laughing SO HARD, because that's already been used as a cover name.

White Lotus tile? OSHIT, NOW THEY HAVE SOMETHING THAT UNCLE WILL PAY ATTENTION TO.

So next episode is Fire Nation fanservice time?

EDIT: As much as I love tags, I am saddened that this means I know have two journaling sites where I have to manually tag things because Semagic does not love their ability to tag (but it does love LJ's ability to do so)...

Another week, another cup of tea, another new episode...

Well, we knew Sokka's better at fishing than Zuko...

Oh, hey, here we have a lovely episode dealing with industrialization causing environmental problems. Also, the episode in which Katara needing to help EVERYONE EVER causes problems. *sighs* She needs to learn that she can't help everyone, even though she wants to.

So this season's crazy old guy: Dock/Shu/Bushi.

*has a brief moment of science geekery when Sokka brings up the 8 minute eclipse thing*

Random observation: the figure of the Painted Lady has a yellow crescent moon on her forehead. On a different note, for a moment I entertained the idea of Katara being the Painted Lady when we heard the bit about bringing the village food, especially since she said she wished she could do more. Then I decided no, that was too obvious. Then they mentioned the healing of the sick people, and I reevaluated the idea, because then it was SO Katara. Even before we saw her putting on the makeup.

Katara did totally miss Sokka's point about how if the Painted Lady leaves, the village would go right back to how it was. Because if she hadn't gone after the factory, it would have, because the pollution would have kept killing the fish and sickening the people.

"I know Hei-Bai. We're close personal friends." Cute, Aang.

*giggles over Toph's purple tongue*

See, backlash-ness. I sense there being an accidental appearance by the Avatar. Aang is being MIGHTY sneaky, though.

Oh hey, there's a random chick in the army.

Random question: why isn't Katara waterbending? Oh, what, brief anti-waterbender backlash? Not impressed.

*giggles over Toph randomly popping out of the crowd.

Summary of what I think the Fire Nation lot were doing this episode: Iroh sitting around in jail, Zuko hanging out with Mai while Azula keeps popping in at inopportune moments, and Ty Lee...continuing to be MIA.

Because I'm that lame, I turned my TV to Nickelodeon, like, 2 hours or more before the episode aired. Not that there was anything else I wanted to watch, or anything. I did save myself from listening to it, thanks to the mute button, and offered my own personal listening pleasure instead of things like Spongebob. Being an Avatar fan, I did feel the need to hook myself up with a cup of hot tea prior to the episode. <s>Iroh ftw (even if he's not in the episode)!</s>

Okay, from a thought based on the commercial I caught just before the show: Aang's whole "I must redeem my honor"...well, hello Zuko parallel. I mean seriously, he's already starting to adopt Zuko's old sorta-buzzed hair. Now he's adopting the "honor" business.

Yeah, if I were Aang I wouldn't want to wake up on what looks like a Fire Nation ship either.

"Uh oh, somebody catch him, he's gonna--" A little delayed statement, there...

...The hell? Mai, you weird me out when you're not being all bored.

Azula's got some good propaganda machine. Also, I think I don't like Zuko's topnight look.

OMG! They marched past the tea shop and the couple that was helped through the Serpent's Pass!

I hope Earth King turns up again later. He's too amusing to not turn up.

Katara has issues with her dad. Also, Aang clearly does not like the whole subterfuge angle.

...Did Azula change the pronunciation of Mai's name? I loved how the turtle ducks swam away when Azula turned up, but Zuko took up the old habit of feeding turtle ducks.

*watches Aang headdesk against his staff* Yeah, he's getting frustrated with the subterfuge bit.

Sokka, this is why you never say it couldn't get much worse. Although "thank you, the universe" was pretty amusing.

*tries not to find symbolism in Aang pulling the Fire Nation symbol off the wall*

*facepalms* OMG, Katara. You had to have realized he would leave like that.

Oh hey, it's Ozai's face. I must admit, I didn't expect that he'd make the "you've redeemed yourself" statement. Not that I trust anything he says yet.

For being upset and on the verge of tears, Katara's more coherent than I would be. Her voice is also rather clear for the emotion she

...Azula's set Zuko up AGAIN. The minute Aang's revealed to be alive, Zuko'll get disgraced again. I do like that eyebrow raise he did when his father mentioned it. ldsjflskjflsjflkj USE YOUR BRAIN, Zuko! "You're lying". No shit, Zuko. *flails* She just told you the reason outright (both the real one and the possibly-sham one).

Y halo thar, Yue. We haven't seen you in a while.

Katara's white sash has a bit of damage. /random

*twitches* ZUKO is behind the new enemy with the crazy tattoo? *did not see that coming* Also, Fire Nation firebending school is SO not going to work out.

And yay for Bending Battle! Although I'm not so enthused about "the universe" (by which I mean all the benders that aren't Iroh) giving Sokka more bad luck.

Given this episode is mostly let's get things going again, I don't really have much to say. So no theories/opinions at the moment.

Just about the only thing I can think of is this: WTF are you doing, Inui? Although, someone please tell me that I'm not thinking in the wrong direction when I suspect Kaidou's got his own version of Kirihara's red eye mode and we're only just now seeing he has it (there was that skin tone shift...and his eyes seemed strange around that point too).

You know what this match has distracted me from? Ryoma's amnesia. I think my current pet theory about that is that amnesia happens when you go through all three of the doors, or whatever. I suspect it would fit in with the way Ryoma always has to be the best without losing, at least in the manga.

And, uh, since I didn't post about the previous chapter: I knew that conversation/match/whatever with Yagyuu was important. I was just picking the wrong reason it was important.

I was gonna hold this post until I had other things to toss with it, but, uh...I don't think that's happening.

*snickers* Much love for the dating sim-esque opening.

The guys are so goofy...and they're such fanboys. I'm vaguely amused by the somewhat sketchy sound effect everytime the reporter crosses her legs. Oh, but Taiko tried so HARD not to freeze. *laughs as they fight over the handshake*

...Reporter lady is not as nice as she appeared. And it's sad that I can think of easy ways that the footage can be made unflattering.

*sighs* As I figured. And, uh, wasn't it just the one time Box changed his gloves during the interview? I am not okay with the way they got presented. I think it's the otaku in me speaking, but STILL!

*snickers* I saw this coming, that the @DEEP people would have to help the reporter that effectively just badmouthed them. None of @DEEP going to enjoy this, I suspect. And the threat's from that guy who seems to be the creepy stalker, yes?

Dramatic statement complete with dramatic eating!

Pretty girl distraction courtesy of the Akane-chin girls! I'm amused...

Er, no. Otaku aren't naturally violent. Otaku that get insulted might tend to act that way, but then so might anyone else.

GAH, the news people are ALL assholes...

Now that I think about it, creepy stalker guy was a bit too obvious. And now they've got the wrong guy, but if they hadn't manage to irritate the @DEEP members, they might have better luck. Or rather, the whole mess might be cleared up already.

*snickers over the dramatic appearance*

The reporters are so awkward as they "immerse themselves in Akihabara".

How does Yui's site know which of them is typing when they switch abruptly like that? I keep wondering about that.

Picking up on the thought of "why don't we ever make any money", now they have money issues. I assume wherever they were living before, they're not (at least, five of them aren't anyway, 'cause there's that many sleeping spaces that I've seen) and the money they used to use for living expenses went into paying for the office space.

...That drink looks about as suspicious as any Inui Juice. And apparently doesn't taste any better. *notices Page hanging onto a trash can*

Akira's cosplay: Tokyo Mew Mew.

..Interesting idea, Box and Taiko. But, uh, how many female otaku have we seen at this point in the series?

??? This is the Otaku zombie bit, isn't it? Poor Box, opting to be the closest to zombie!Daruma. Whose little cubby thing did they board him up in, anyway? Not Page, Box, or Taiko, nor Daruma's...so which of the girls opted for what seems to be flowers?

I'm feeling Shaun of the Dead vibes here, but you know, I can't help wonder if there's some ploy behind this, that it's some elaborate hoax.

In other words, play dead? While standing and not thinking of anything and, in Page's case, making a silly face.

Izm: more effective at playing dead than Box, Page, and Akira.

I love that nobody notices Taiko-zombie until Box gets bitten, and then there's nothing to warn the others...

Zombies all around! And it was just a movie thing after all. Although...didn't that just increase the debt? Hmm, guess not, thanks to sketchy president. That should cover the money issue for a while.

Wait, what? Are they giving the money back? *is confused* Didn't they need money to pay the bills? So, uh, have they fixed the fact that they have no water?

Stationary from the frog anime, not that I remember the name of it or anything...

I see they went with the health drink option.

*snickers* Way to fail at sneaking out, guys. Also, your support of Akane-chin is not believable when you're all busily looking at the flyer for the other place.

...What is the program doing? And why do I think it was a bad idea to input the name of the sketchy president?

The dolphin=the image the AI uses to represent itself?

Well, I'm tired of the sound effect used to indicate cleavage/boobs now. I'm, uh, not surprised about Box needing to leave that place.

Flee! Flee the ero-maids!

Rainbow panties="legendary maid" status? Why do I find that incredibily easy to fake?

Akane-chin doesn't seem to change its costumes as much anymore. And the girls that abandon it all wear their new uniforms without showing that much cleavage. But at least they have second thoughts.

Nagomi uses underhanded tactics. Also, Daruma has, like, never left that place. But, what on earth is the connection between Nagomi and the creepy president? If I didn't know better, I'd swear he's using Nagomi as bait for @DEEP.

General agreement seems to be that Page needs to put the "planning time" phrase into his computer so there's no more stammmering over it, since he says it a lot.

...That is not okay, ero-maids. Really not okay.

The owner of Akane-chin is the real second legendary maid, isn't she? EDIT: Okay, I was close. And I was right about Nagomi's ones being fake.

There's a bunch of maids on the sidelines. I guess they're from other shops?

People have a habit of leaving abruptly around @DEEP.

...Possibly the most interesting opening image yet.

*snickers* Way to avoid the question, Taiko.

Page's hair is going crazy...

There's something I find eerie with the flashback Nakagomi: with the glasses, the hair, and the way he dresses, there's a bit of visual similarity to Page.

Daruma darumas. Oh, the punnish-ness of it.

This is clearly Box avoiding the issue.

Izm is only awake when most of the boys are gone, or brief flashes of frustration over the AI's actions.

Tousaka's current work worries me...and crap, yeah, that's what I was worried about. Definitely a bad idea for Nakagomi to know about Yui's AI.

...Why were we watching the guys in caps playing "first thing you think of" game?

It's not gonna be the motorcycle guy. They are, after all, making a guess just on the fact that he's got the figure and is "wild".

OMG WTF Mikiko? Now I'm confused...and now I'm not. The whole "stalker" thing was a setup, wasn't it? She didn't have any trouble at all to begin with, I'm betting.

You know, I was just guessing earlier that the bomb was in one of the darumas, but imagine my surprise when that's what actually happened.

...? So the revenge guy is all about the appearance of revenge, in this case.

I love how all the interactions with the AI turn into everyone wanting their own turn to type.

*is still puzzled by the fact that there seems to be one less space to sleep than there are @DEEP members*

What Daruma's thinking after hanging up on Nakagomi: Oh crap, the guy we were warned about's coming. Or, maybe "oh crap" in general, as most of @DEEP seems to have forgotten the warning message they got.

...Is his stuff better because he has more Gundam things? He did make the comment while looking at a Gundam model, after all.

Good for Page, who pretty much says exactly what I was hoping one of them would say.

Silly Shimoyanagi, acting like one of those game show folks and showing off the prices.

*snickers as Nakagomi ganks a snack before starting to leave* *snickers more at the DigiCap folks at Akanechin, simply because most of them look out of place* *stares in silence as Nakagomi drinks Akira's drink* That was kinda...impressive, actually.

Daruma's version of what happened is just a LITTLE off from the truth.

I dunno, I wouldn't want to have someone hear what my instructions were if there's a chance they could let their friends know...

Holy crap, convenient Ajita! But bad, no looting the @DEEP office! See how that just gets you into trouble?

Excellent spit take, Page...

Nakagomi's an ass. I keep asking myself if there's no way Izm's friend could have studied Yui's program over at the @DEEP office, but clearly Nakagomi wanted the program all to himself because of his unresolved Yui issues.

Page's rather quiet breakdown as Daruma starts to wake up just hits me so hard. I get the feeling he's been trying to hold himself together for the others a bit (given three of them either yelled at him or started crying with him around).

Oh Page...

To be honest, I really can't see the break up lasting that long. They're just linked too stronglu, I suspect. And heck, the melancholy reminescing music just digs the point in. Besides, Nakagomi's got Yui, and there's no way any of them are really going to let that lie.

I stand by my assessment of Nakagomi being creepy. Because now I have even more proof.

You know, I was thinking there would be sneaking in hijinks, in which various members of @DEEP came up with different plans to get in without consulting each other and then they ran into each other in the process. Not that I'm ruling it out yet, or anything...

What the hell is this "evolved otaku" business? Really, I think he means he's an otaku that's gone off the deep end. Because that's sure what he seems like to me.

*snickers over all three of the boys bringing the same thing when they go to visit Daruma*

*facepalms* Of all the bad luck...

You can't control a person, Nakagomi, even if the person is an AI. There's just something NOT RIGHT about it.

I recognize that ringtone from DDR, but I can't remember what the name of it is. Which is really frustrating, because I know I've DDRed to it and I have the mp3.

"He was the most susceptible." In other words, he was the one that was easy to hypnotize?

If they were anywhere else, the @DEEP members running through the street would be drawing a lot of attention.

And, uh, I do believe Daruma has dirt on DigiCap's new president. *chuckles* I do wonder how that little bit of arresting got managed, though.

*shakes head* This is a definite example of boys and their toys, with the glee over electric gloves.

This frontal attack thing is so not playing to their strengths.

A thought on the style similarity between Page and Nakagomi of the past: Page and Nakagomi are the two diverging paths. Nakagomi couldn't ever let Yui go and seeks to control her despite her wishes; Page can, ultimately, let Yui go because of her wish to be set free from Nakagomi. Hence Page getting the final blow in the confrontation with Nakagomi.

*smiles* And now we're following up on the "take your gloves off" line from Mikiko. Yay for Box!

...I agree with @DEEP and go WHAT!!!! over the capped guys really being police.

*likes their site design*

Suikoden IV ate my Sunday. Seriously, I'm, like, 14+ hours in and my party that I actually use is (full of ninjas!) somewhere around level 36. Main character's at level 38, and the ninjas aren't that far behind. The other parties are about at level 33, and I've got a number of folks that are below that, but they'll be easy enough to level later, when I'm not running into things like metal crabs that half-kick my ass. And someone stop me, I'm toying with the idea of cosplaying the main character. No more than one cosplay project in planning at a time right now, thanks.

Also, I should mention I wrote that last bit on Sunday night, and I'm somewhere around 24 hours and level 50 for the four characters I've been mainly using after playing all morning and afternoon. GRE studying isn't getting very far...

Things I've Learned by Reading Tenipuri: You can never, ever have too many spare pairs of glasses.

Things I Learned from the Lastest Tenipuri Chapter: Oshitari's glasses just don't suit Inui.

I've made a plan to go hunting for cosplay fabric on Wednesday, but we'll see how that goes when it actually happens.

...Well, that came out of nowhere...

The AI is clearly shiny and nifty, if it apparently faked them out in the past.

Oh, hey, I actually recognize Daruma's cosplay, as I noted last set of episodes.

Box, why are you covering your face? The room is neither scary or creepy. It's...never mind. It is now slightly creepy.

Box and Page are so amusing when they're running around doing things together...

*snickers* The subordinate's so gonna get his ass kicked...well, I was going to say later, but I think now's more appropriate.

Box, ya'll are still gonna strike out on this, I think. Also, while I'm thinking about it, Page does an interesting thing with his hands when he's talking on occasion.

Cosplays I spot in the cosplay even (aside from the @DEEP members)t: something from Gundam Seed, Sailor Saturn (?), Ohtori and Shishido, Gravitation, Full Metal Alchemist, Jiraiya (?). Songstress Yuna, Lust, Envy, Asuka (?)

It's totally the fellow cosplayer, isn't it? And I should have see the photo op moment of with Lum!Akira and Kasumi!Satsuki coming when Akira caught her when she tried to run away.

I love that no one bothered to change out of their costume when they were sitting around.

That phone call getting lost is probably for the best.

That doorbell is like, the most awesome thing ever.

These are creepy creepy girls...And yeah, I'm not very enthused about their song either.

*snickers over the boys fretting and worrying while Izm takes the straightforward approach*

*sputters* What the heck is with the Campbell's soup can?

Company president sure likes the original Gundam series...

This episode is full of three day time jumps...

Now that it's revealed that they're acting, Akada's stuff really does look like he's just acting. And the bit with the knife and the fake blood...surely SOMEONE in the audience would have seen that.

That looked like Yui's program/site on the computer screen at the very beginning, and that makes me curious. Except it's not, because the look seems off somehow. Or, if nothing else, the text is a new color, and I doubt Izm would have made that change. Unless the text for Yui's responses can be set by the user, which doesn't seem right.

I see Chrno Crusade in the background behind Izm.

Rui: always at the center of Akane-chin antics.

*chuckles* Of course once something gets brought up, you can't let it go.

OMG, this group is weird and creepy. And I think they totally missed Yui's point. That, or they never had contact with the real Yui. Because they certainly don't seem to know that Yui was encouraging folks to keep living as a means of helping them, instead of picking folks to die one by one.

Page is amusingly spazzy at times.

Box is never going guess Daruma's costume right, is he?

I knew that something was up with the chick at the register, but I didn't suspect her to pull out a metal bat. I swear, she's lost it. Also, what the heck, Taiko and Box? You gave reasons for not stepping in when the chick was armed, but then didn't hesitate to join Akira in facing her once she was disarmed.

...Don't they have multiple computers? Couldn't they, I dunno, have separate conversations instead of fighting over one screen?

WTF? The president guy just gets creepier and creepier...

And this is where this round of post stops for today, because I hafta wait for the next three episodes to download, and of course episode 8 is looking to be done before 6 and 7. FIGURES.

I need me some akihabara@DEEP icons...

It's been a bit since I've done this with anything I've been watching for the first time (read: since the last time I watched an episode of Avatar when it first aired, and we don't count the season finale for that...), so I figure I'm just gonna kinda react at things as I watch Akihabara@DEEP because sometimes I notice things while I'm watching stuff and I like writing it down somewhere.

I like the quasi-cell phone of the music at the beginning (and that keeps turning up off and on through the episode). I know I know what that piece is, too, but I can't think of the title off the top of my head.

Daruma's cosplay in the introduction: Cyborg 009. I think...

Maybe it's just me, but I'm amazed Akira put up with the babbling boys as much as she did. Admittedly, I don't know much about her character yet, but she did seem like she wouldn't have put up with that stuff much.

*snickers at Box's role in the chase scene, or rather the amusing ways he runs*

...Flailing your hands will not prevent panty shots from being taken. Good try, though...

I'm only 13 minutes into the episode, and already I think Page is utterly adorable. The glasses, and the way Page perpetually ducks his head and the "flail flail typing into the voice program*...utterly adorable. Using his computer to speak makes sense given his stutter.

Yui interests me because I'm not sure if there's a person behind the site or if I think there's an AI...Ah well, holding off judging until I get further into the series. *keeps watching* Okay, so there is a person...not that I really know what she's up to or anything.

*snickers* I love how the boys are so uncertain of what to do when Akira leaves the restaurant once China calls.

The brief moment of AWKWARD following the gleeful celebration once they scare the gang off amuses me.

The vaguely creepy president behind the otaku hunts? Seems to have a bit of an oral fixation, what with all the lollipops. And he even uses a big one to beat up his subordinate...Also, what the heck is with his laugh?

Ooo, yay for voice program upgrade (even if it doesn't get used in the episode itself for a bit)!

I get the feeling the boys don't want to get their asses kicked by Akira. Hence the fleeing from the mop when she's cleaning up.

...Box, Taiko? What the heck are you doing? And, really, the guys fail at hiding. Oh, and hey, random Star Wars poster in the background.

Taiko: freezing at random points for humor value?

...I am mightily impressed with how fast folks found the website. There must have been lead-up links or something, in order for the counter to start rising that fast. Maybe some conveniently timed Google searches?

*joins Box in not recognizing the cosplay to the point that she asked the question right before he did*

The capped fanboys: now serving as useful plot devices.

I'm still not recognizing most of Daruma's costumes, but I'm pretty sure Akira was dressed as Bridget from Guilty Gear for a bit there.

So the sorta creepy vice president is as much an otaku as the members of Akihabara@DEEP members. He's just got the lollipops and his collection of large models (I know I spotted some sort of Gundam thing, and then Kaneda's bike...).

Now, maybe I'm already not remembering properly, but I have a feeling creepy president has an idea that Akihabara@DEEP interfered with his little gang operation. And if he doesn't, then he's going to be keeping an eye out for them from now on.

Clearly Izm and Yui-san are just too quiet to be noticed by the somewhat rambunctious members of Akihabara@DEEP. And, uh, while I was getting some odd Yukimura-vibes off Yui-san before she actually met the group, the whole fainting thing IS NOT HELPING.

I'm enjoying watching it, so this gives me something fun and new to watch. Also, I have a habit of liking nerd types, and this show is just hitting that so nicely.

So I flipped past dub Naruto episode 101, and the "Ahou bird" is totally still there.

I've been doing lots of random things that aren't job hunting this weekend. Today's random project: rehemming my Seigaku shirt so that it stops turning itself so that you can see the fabric meant to be held by the hem. Haven't made much progress yet, but what I have gotten done looks good, so this should turn out nicely.

I'm thinking about visiting Hollins next weekend, and if I do, I might decide to bring cookies. Because I can, and I like baking things. I just need to get my hands on some of those plastic plates that you can make into a closed container...

I feel it appropriate to use my only Rikkai-related icon to post about the latest PoT chapter.

So before I started reading this chapter, I was thinking "Okay, Rikkai was winning last chapter. This is the part where we start pulling out new moves and things and the matches turns around, like, five times before someone actually wins." And then I read the chapter.

First thought: sldkjfdslkjflkdsjflsjfls

Second thought: Oshit, Rikkai is still winning. There was no new move and turn around...

I haven't actually read manga Rikkai arc from Regionals, so I'm not sure on some of what went on there (I do know some details because they're notable like the Switch or because of Rikkaimyu, so yeah...). Anyway, Kirihara's red eyes mode still is kinda scary, and oh, do I want to see Inui and Kaidou make at least a slight comeback.

I'm also hoping that Inui has a spare set of glasses, because I'm thinking the pair he was wearing is not going to be wearable for the rest of the match. What with being stepped on and all.

A thought I keep having, but I'm not to sure on 'cause I am much less familiar with manga canon and thus I'm working from the Nationals OVA: Didn't Yagyuu make a comment to Kaidou about Kaidou's special moves before Nationals (hence the Higa match without the special shots)? I keep remembering that, and wondering if Yagyuu knew something about Kirihara's training and what not, because Kirihara definitely hit one of Kaidou's shots last chapter and now another one isn't effective. I mean, if he did drop a hint...I'm not sure what to make of it. Largely because I don't have a firm idea of what I think Yagyuu's character is like, but also...I dunno. On a side note, did anyone else notice that Yagyuu is MIA? Sanada just played, Yukimura's probably still on bench, Renji and Kirihara are playing, and Niou/Marui/Jackal are all on the sidelines. Where's Yagyuu?

Echizen=still amnesiac. I can't help thinking that Seigaku might be either hoping he gets his memory back really really soon (preferably before he actually has to play) or trying to figure some way to win before Ryoma has to play. Unless memory loss=suddenly extra kickass at tennis because it's the key to going through all the doors or whatever.

...I really really hope it's not that last thought. Please don't let me be right about that.
LJ, please to be not disrupting my internet every time I refresh my friends page/navigate one page away from my friends page. Reconnecting is an irritating thing when done 5+ times a day. And, uh, it's especially irritating that you only do it to my laptop, and never to any of the other computers in the house.

Continuing in my attempts to learn to make nothing but desserts, today I made white cake (from a cake mix) and iced it with lemon icing (also bought). It is TASTY. I'm thinking, though, that I should try to make a cake/icing from scratch at some point and I conveniently have access to a cookbook that might help in this plan. I should look and see what kind of icings it has in there and then pick a cake type. Or something...*looks in the cookbook* Oh, hey, there's even recipes that lead to nifty things that could be done with cake mixes. Hm...maybe I'll do one of those instead. Even though, ya know, I really should be learning to make something that is NOT dessert.

*suddenly loses part of her ability to spell*

*keysmashes over own post-eating idiocy*

Anyway, the pudding pie thing I mentioned in my last, non-bloggish entry is mighty tasty. Mom says it's "refreshing", which is a term that always confuses me when it's applied to food. But anyway, it has this nice blend of chocolate and mint flavor. I'm thinking I might want this again eventually, so I might just need to acquire me some more of that pudding...especially as last I saw, there was only one slice of the pie left, and I don't think it's going to be there in the morning.

Incidentally, that last bit was better before I had my moment of post-eating idiocy. Shame, that.

How INSaNe are you?

31%

Quirky - You are only insane very rarely and when you do go insane it is hilarious.

'How Insane are You?' at QuizGalaxy.com

It occurs to me that I need to check the time on my alarm clock. By which I mean the one that actually works, instead of the now unplugged one that has no sound anymore. The time is out of sync with the change in TV programs, my computer, and my watch. This suggests to me that the time is not correct over on that alarm clock. *goes over and fixes it* There. Now it's not fast anymore...

*sporfles and dies over the latest PoT chapter* The only thing I've to say about it is I keep thinking of that Futurama episode in which almost the entire cast of All My Circuits has amnesia.

I don't think I'm gonna come up with anything else that should go in this post, except it was mildly disconcerting to wake up to the sound of dub Naruto this morning.

In my ongoing quest to learn to make desserts and nothing else, I made a pudding pie. I've no idea how it tastes, but it's chocolate fudge pudding with "cool mint" chips in it. I'm hoping for tasty goodness.

On the writing end of things, I temporarily overcame my inability to find words, only to get pounced by ideas that I think belong to what I might write for NaNoWriMo. So I've made notes, because as tempting as it is to start it now, if I start it now I'll have nothing I really want to play with for NaNo and then I won't end up doing it. So no writing THAT particular original fantasy thing right now. I'm attempting to steer my brain to other writer-y things that I want to do or feel a need to work on, but I'm not having much luck. On that note, I discovered I have 4000+ words of random pieces of things for Mahou no Oujisama, but none of which is complete enough to post. *facepalms* Mahou no Oujisama is starting to turn into my default "I feel like writing" thing to play with, but unfortunately I'm not really getting anywhere. Ah well. At least I'm trying.

There was one job I thought about applying for, but then this whole required retail/customer service experience thing got in my way. Curse my lack of both! And I'm effectively giving up on Volume II Bookstore, since they haven't gotten back to me...*checks e-mail* yep, haven't gotten back to me and I'm pretty sure it's been about a week. *checks date* Yeah, closing in on a week. So it's back to hunting for other options. And, push come to shove, there's always the local temp agencies. *sighs* Me no likely this whole job hunting thing.

Back to reading, I suppose. Never hurts, after all, to read and potentially pick up writer tricks or inspiration for writing...

Watching the first two TMNT movies makes me want to rewatch that anime TMNT thing. Not any of the recent TV series that were on Fox or anything, but that crack-tastic anime thing. Anyway, given the general crackiness of that anime TMNT thing, I'm thinking this is not a good thing. And for good measure, this is not a request for anyone to hook me up with it. I have enough things to be doing <s>and anime to be watching</s> without picking up those two cracky episodes...

A typo in typing in a URL led me to LJ hilarity of a non-wanky sort. And, uh, feel free to click multiple times, because it'll say different things.

I keep trying to write on things (mostly fanfic in nature), except my words keep failing me and I end up staring at the Word document of the thing I'm working on knowing the sort of thing I want to write but not being able to put it into words. It is SO frustrating!

Starting Friday morning, Cartoon Network is airing the first 100 episodes of dub Naruto all weekend. While (I think I remember this correctly) episode 101 might be mighty entertaining to see in dub form, I just don't have any interest in watching dub Naruto. Maybe 'cause I got series burnout on it and haven't gotten the will to return to it. *has it on mute at the moment as Orochimaru shows up for the first time, complete with creepy tongue thing but before he looks creepy*

Bed now. And maybe sleep.
