We just had 3 big jolts in the space of minutes. :( Posting while I still can since I suspect power may go out. I'm guessing no sleep for me tonight. Anyone wanna come and get me? |

+ Still having aftershocks about every half hour to an hour, although they're not as strong as yesterdays which were around the 4 to 5 mark. Having said that, they're warning for a big one at some point. + We're still all okay. Mum is scared but coping. I'm feeling particularly emotional, especially looking through the photos of my city in ruins. We're still not allowed in the CBD and have a 7pm to 7am curfew. + Gracie still hasn't come home. :( + We're having gale force winds today which could pull more buildings down. + The quake was roughly the same size as the one that hit Haiti. We have better buildings though and we were lucky that while it was central business district that was hit the hardest, it happened at 4.30am when the area was less populated. If it had hit during the working day I don't know how many people would've been killed. A major department store collapsed in on itself. During the day that building alone would've had hundreds of people in it. + One of my favourite historical places exists only in photos now. :( |

Just letting people know I'm okay, although a little in shock. I obviously have power for the time being, no water, and I'm just waiting to hear from other family members and friends. Mum is fine but scared because she couldn't get out of bed when it happened. We're still having pretty strong aftershocks but it doesn't seem as though my house is damaged too much. Mum's house is far worse off than mine, she's lost a lot of things and her chimney may come down if there's a big aftershock. Jack and Gizmo are fine. Gracie missing atm. City centre is cordoned off and state of emergency declared so I'm just gonna pack a few things in case I have to leave in a hurry. Thanks to everyone for the good thoughts and vibes. I've been random the past week or so and likely to be for the next couple of days until Christmas is over with. I just want to say to everyone on my flist and everyone I've written with in the past year, Happy Holidays. I hope you all have a great time no matter what you're doing. My Christmas will be fairly quiet, and hopefully not too hot. Lunch at Mum's and then I plan on coming home and chilling out with some music and/or a book and maybe a bit of chocolate. :) *loves* |
