[FIC] Digital Devil Saga
Title: N/A
Fandom: Digital Devil Saga
Pairing: Gale/Cielo (Vayu/Cielo)
Rating: R
Word Count: 712 words

It happened to all of them occasionally. Not often enough that it was worth worrying about, but often enough that they all knew the signs. Because it was easy to slip too far into the demon, to let that little growling voice in the back of your head take charge instead of playing nice and sharing. Cielo understood that--hell, he was guilty of it himself sometimes, and he'd admit it. He just wasn't used to it happening to Gale.

"Shit!" he yelped, rolling to the side just in time to avoid being gutted by one bladed foot. "Not cool, man! Not cool at all!"

Serph and Argilla had already transformed again, but even Varna's warning roar didn't do anything to stop the rampaging demon. Vayu just snarled back, twisting out of Prithivi's grasp and leaping out of the way. Serph looked frustrated, or at least more frustrated than Varna usually did. Which was saying a lot. Scrambling back to his feet, Cielo brushed his braids out of his eyes and sized up the situation. They weren't getting anywhere, and at this rate, Gale was just going to hurt himself. Which was gonna be a pain later, because then he'd apologize for slowing them down, not that he wasn't gonna be apologizing for this anyway and--"Whoa!"

He almost didn't notice Vayu's kick until it was too late, barely managing to jump over it. Twisting in midair, he focused on the clear blue sky whistling wind feeling of Dyaus in his head and suddenly felt the air catch under his wings. It wasn't a full transformation--just enough to give him the chance to glide to his destination: Vayu's head.

"Gotcha!" he crowed, landing heavily on the demon's thick shoulders. He slid his legs around his neck from behind, well out of reach of the deadly feet below. "C'mon, brother! Get a hold of yourself!"

Vayu's mouth opened in a shriek of rage, but Cielo just placed one hand on each side of his jaws to keep them from opening far enough to throw him off. "Shhh," he whispered, stroking the leathery, indented skin. "S'okay, Gale. Battle's over, ja? Just your comrades here."

The frenzied attempts to dislodge him were slowing. So he decided--what the hell--he'd do what he always wanted to do to distract Gale, and took the chance to kiss him. Vayu's skin was cool under his lips and tasted sort of green, like he imagined grass might. And that seemed to be working, because Vayu wasn't struggling at all anymore, so he pressed closer and licked his way over the whole length of the demon's jaw that he could reach, skin and closed teeth feeling weird but not bad under his tongue. And when he came to the top of his head and could see the hint of a long tongue protruding, he didn't hesitate to take it between his lips and suck. On his thigh, Dyaus' mark was burning and wow that felt weird, like and electric shock when Vayu shuddered under him and brushed against it. Distantly, he heard a sort of strangled whimper--it took him a moment to realize that he was the one making it.

"Uh, Cielo?" Argilla's voice snapped him out of his daze, and apparently it had the same effect on Gale. Because there was the sensation of change under him and then he was falling to the floor, landing half on top of Gale with a thud. Gale made a noise like "oof" and Cielo realized that he'd kneed the poor guy in the back.

"Oops," he managed, getting back to his feet from the floor for the second time in less than five minutes. Argilla and Serph had shed their demon forms and were staring at him like they couldn't decide whether to be amused or... something else. "Well, it worked, ja?" he muttered, brushing himself off and offering Gale a hand up. Gale stared at the hand for a long moment before taking it and stumbling upright. When their eyes met, the look he gave Cielo was a stunned one, and he seemed strangely hesitant to let go of his hand.
